I like this cover. I like the slight (psychedlic) graini-ness...looks different.
I like where this song goes, so to speak.
Every storyteller would get their own soul into this tune somewhere - It seems like if you had a shot of, say, whiskey it might even be a bit more loose.
Overall, who am I kidding? Sounds great! Good job, dude!
That geetar must be worth quite a bit? is it a resonator? excuse my ignorence I only play them I know fuck all about them, if it holds its tune I like it, simple
yuup its a Gibson "Hound Dog resonator, squareneck ...on the lap only ....fretless and the action is close to an inch from the fingerboard..its all mahogany i gather...rings like a bell! i paid about 650 a few yrs back but check ebay they might be cheaper now
start2caster, man this is awesome. youve got the song down, youve got the right voice, you're playing on a resonator, which makes it even cooler, and gotta love youir shirt. keep it up
Captain Beefheart updated the lyrics and recorded his own version, called "Sure Enough N Yes I Do" -- youtube won't let me link to their own video of it, but it's easy to find.
I love Johnson!!! To praise him the band Dirty Sound Magnet made a video clip about his life and death. I think he would be proud to see the effects of his music almost 100 years after his death. Check it out

You won't be disapointed. True blues rock still exists
u make me want a dobro, i got 5 guitars now and i love it been playing for 10 years or so, but i think i want to challange my pic fingers and the dobro looks very good for that
There weren't any known 12 bar blues songs that were recorded or written down until Charley Patton, and a guy named Henry Sloan who he supposedly may have learned from.
Thanks for the references to Led Zeppelin. I didn't know they paid tribute to Robert Johnson. Another songwriter influenced by Johnson is Stephen Stills. At the beginning of "49 Reasons" Stills quotes the line "Why don't you come into my kitchen, cause it's going to be rain' out there.." A friend of mine took guitar lessons until he could play Keith Richard's version of "Love in Vain." That's my favorite of Johnson's own recordings.
perhaps you like the rattle, but if you dont want so much rattle you know you can lay one of those free fingers on the tuning side of the slide lightly on the strings to mute and it wont rattle as bad. it sounds good anyways though.
this Gibson Hound Hog is about $1600 US right now but i think you can get an Epiphone much cheaper, maybe $200...i had a Johnson for $250 at one time and it was pretty decent
You are so good my bro, i love that kind of blues . when you play the guitar sound like no belong at this time so you play like really players of blues....congratulations!!!
isnt sad that music like this doesnt thrive anymore? everyone's into that self-centered 3 chord new crap...or at least its like that here in vegas haha

hey have you tried open tunings? this song is in open G , you should try it with a slide, its pretty easy once you get past the tuning change, it virtually plays itself . now i use open e and open d too, its actually easier than forming chords...give it a try man!
thanks for the kind comment ! i really like Claptons version of this, indeed he influenced mine... unfortunately Billy has passed on and wont be performing anything
Actually you sound a bit like Howlin Wolf. I know Billy passed on. I just thought the recording I saw was weak and the bass was too busy. Billy wasn't in his moment, if you know what I mean. And Clapton(love his work)seems too introverted and serious. Big mind, big music. Music is love.

very good, but who you trying to kid??? that aint traveling riverside blues.
yoonhapki 2 months ago
@yoonhapki
not trying to kid anyone, its merely my interpretation.
its more closely related to Clapton's version. if you listen to Led Zeppelins version, its a whole 'nother trip.
thanks for your interest,
