@armann500 so true, there is an interview with him where he is playing the intro to "my friend of misery" (i think) where he seem VERY bitter. james and lars where such jerks because they couldn't accept cliffs death and because of that never really gave jason a chance to be the "bass guy" instead of "the new guy" even though he was their bassist for 10-11 years.

i would exchange rob for jason anytime, they were both good, but jason just had stage presence, unlike rob who acts like a monkey

Whether he plays with pick or fingers is irrelevant. He had a better tone with a pick, during the late 90s, than Rob has most of the time with his fingers (though the blame for that could lay with Rubin being a production hack), so I'll take what sounds better over some stupid bias against a pick. He made up for "butchering" Orion with his performance of Ktulu in S&M.

I always despised Jason's effects, especially on songs like For Whom the Bell Tolls. Didn't quite cut it for me (I mean live of course) and you got me on Ktulu. That was GREAT, but I'll take Orion over Ktulu any day

I am in fact a bass player, and I do use a pick (primarily because I started out on guitar, but it also fits the genre that I'm used to playing) It doesn't make you better or worse, but it is much harder to play faster songs like Whiplash and Fight Fire with Fire with your fingers than with a pick. FACT
