  • neat but theres an even easier one if you just stay in the same stance not switching... you can catch the kick o the tickest part of your rib cage and take a right step behind his left foot.. either pushing them down or pushing at the same time.. then the leg is stuck either submission or throw it aside and get a better possition or punch the face.

  • because they don't fight people that will make them pay for taking the kick instead of blocking first.

  • @Bigant55 Google Muay Thai Round Kick Catch and Follow Ups youtube

  • @Bigant55 Post your own video and than you can talk.

  • wish i had a teacher like this, he looks like someone id want to learn from, nice music also!!!

  • this is just what i was looking for! except in kyokushin grabbig is not allowed, so i need to find a way that allows me to just redirect the kick then sweep the supporting leg! hmmm..

  • Why is that guy wearing his glasses... omg he can hurt him self

  • If the guys kick is stronger than your ribs, blocking that way might not be so good. Even if you blend in with the kick, a follow through kick like a thai kick could still hurt you very badly.

  • the catch kick is a very common technique in MT. At long as you move away from the impact zone.

  • @zeerebel In most muay thai the power is sweeping through the kick so there is alot broader of an impact zone. I don't care what you say this is not a smart defense against a roundkick against a front kick yes, round kick no.

  • @Bigant55 if that is the case why do you see it in MT matches and taught at different MT clubs ??

  • @deejin25 the idea is that when you grab his leg and roll him down you neutralize the income force by changing his center line.

akido is all about making your opponent off balance and redirrection or force.

another good similar defence would be to catch the leg and simply turn away, he WILL fall. not with the force of a slam but he is going down.

  • In Wing Chun we don`t kick like that...

  • ok.

  • :)

Yeah we just do "straight" kicks against the lower part of the body.. =)

  • But nevertheless its a great technique!

  • MCLUVINNNNN

  • Nice ^^.. Thanks for the video!!~~~

  • i like the masters gi

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Yeah the last song is the Bourne Ultimatum. I went to Karate before this used to be soo cool. But then I found out it was really lame in a real fight.

  • I don't understand what you are trying to say. Are you saying the song is lame, the move is lame, or karate is lame ??

  • If he means a sweep is lame in a real fight, I disagree with that. For self defence purpose it better to do a takedown on someone than to KO them if you want to avoid injuring them too much. In my country using hard techniques, even in self defence, can get you in trouble with the law. So it's better to do a take-down and run away.

  • I agree 100%, if i were in a street situation, id rather wait and react to somones attack, and try and use a sweep or a take down, and run away, but i would make sure i slam them hard, and probally give them a boot or two as a punishment haha!

  • youtube this move. I don't have time to film it.

Step in 45 degrees or v step toward his supporting leg and kick 45 degree upward with the side kick.

Basic Foot sweep in MT and Kyokushin Karate

  • ok thankyou

  • Try stepping in towards your opponent to take the force of the kick away.

  • Great suggestion, also teach that too. I hope to have that up one of these days.

    Mong

  • I practice Northern Shaoling and San Soo Kung Fu, which uses alot of kick defence techniques.

Try San Soo, it's a great compliment to BJJ.

  • thanks for the recommendation

  • This is guy is teaching a very good method of locking and dropping a person and protecting his face as well.

    Very good teacher.

  • thanks

  • nice

  • u probably wanna stop the kick not hug it lol

  • if you watch the video carefully, I teach that you moved about 1 foot with the direction of the kick
