  • Great sounding amp.

  • Poetic phrasing. I love Allen hinds.

  • この人が誰か知らないけど、ただ気持ちを込めて弾いているだけの人じゃん。

  • "Scooping" or cutting a little off the mids is pretty common with strats/single coils. Also very amp dependent. His tone here sound very neutral, certainly not scooped. He sounds great here with the Alchemist but you can tell he was feeling out the sound in the beginning and shaped his playing to get what he wanted.

  • :44 to 1:08 is my favourite part. Makes me smile everytime. :)

  • Just a heads up, this amp has great sound but I have been burned by bad reliability right out of the box. Box was not damaged and shipped by a company that deals with electronics, but there was power loss, crackling, etc right out of the box.

  • @rotagen5 ya there are no solder joints in the amp,it's all plugs. if you wanted to gig or tour with it you'd probably have to have all the points soldered. as it is the plugs should be reseated every so often. just a heads up. great tone though.

  • Shiva's dancing along

  • Great amp but i think as Allen Hinds can have this tone with the radio of my grandfather why the sound is producted from his fingers.

  • It's like he couldn't hit a sour note if he even tried.

  • What a freaking epic tone!

  • I love the Dancing Shiva on top of the amp.

  • Met this guy at M.I. I've never seen talent like this before.

  • How have I never come across this guy before? He gives me the chills - goes directly to my top 5 guitarists:-)

  • @Esbenmad Chances are if you've never went to school at Musician's Institute in Hollywood (where he teaches and councils), you'd be hard pressed to know who he is. I've had classes taught by Allen, and he's one of those dudes that EVERYONE shuts up when he teaches or plays. He always used to have his door open in the practice rooms around lunch time, and you'd walk by and hear him doing this type of music. It was perfect for that sunny California vibe.

  • @ShivaTheAuspicious Darn... Musicians institute is pretty far away from Denmark:-)

  • good guitarist......wish i could afford the amp.....

  • What a tone...

  • his guitar is a "exotic guitar" same compagny for the pedal ;)

  • Oh I see, instead of falling down, he's falling up. Such a clever title.

  • dude he has that thing set like a metal player. what's the word they use....scooped??? treble and bass up and mids down below the middle......i think that's why he was obviously (from his own reaction and movement) confused by the tone at the beginning......i'd love to hear another take with different E.Q. too bad.

  • @funkymonkey6string It's not scooped. O_o Making the mids SLIGHTLY less than the others isn't scooping. It's more like a soft dip. It's not like he Dimebag'd it.

  • @funkymonkey6string That's weird, because Allen hates scooped tone. I'm not really hearing a scoop either... If anything, he prefers boosted mids. I've jammed with him multiple times and he's never had "scooped" tone ever.

  • Allen was one of my instructors @ GIT and his playing is stellar: highly tasteful, elegant and - yes - perfect. And not just to me.

  • can you tell what guitar he is using?

  • @lionPGF Xottic

  • Allen's tones is his finger

  • Effortless...well done.

  • YouTube is swarming with electric guitarists playing arpeggios and heavy riffs at lightning speed. That gets boring real quick!

VERY refreshing to hear really tasty, melodic playing like that of Allen Hinds, Eric Johnson, Andy Timmons, Carl Verheyen, and a handful of others.

  • yawnnnnn thanks for putting me to sleep with this rad elevater muzak!! zzzzzz

  • @STORYTASTIC

Guitar noobs are Wowed by their heroes. Their heroes admire guys like this. That is all that need be said here.

  • @Mebibit admire an awful elevator player I doubt it..I admire a passionate exciting player like real heroes such as Django...Stern....Beck not this guy..good luck to you...

  • @STORYTASTIC heyhey now, don't confuse the (as usual with many guitarists) elevator backing track with the passionate playing that's done on top of it :-)

  • @STORYTASTIC id pay to listen to this in an elevator...music isnt all about excitement you know, that would just get boring

  • @mymothersanelk okay youre right....just never did dig fake elevator pop easy listening Dumble jazz..happy new year

  • @STORYTASTIC That was a very arrogant statement. Open your ears. There's plenty of emotion in this song, believe it or not.

  • Allen is the SHIT !!! Beautiful tone & playing !!!!!!! Thank you :)

  • its a strat, but not fender, why not

  • @TheMetalFloyd666 Existen más marcas =)

  • @OpuestoPolo srry, could you say that in english, i don't speak spanish, that was spanish right? if it wasn't, silly....

  • @TheMetalFloyd666

There is a big and better world outside of Fender. Companies like Suhr, Tom Anderson, Tyler, Nash and several more make instruments that are far superior to anything coming out of the Fender factory.

Allen is using an Xotic Classic.

  • @ThieleM i know, im not dumb ( i hope : / ) but still, i find fenders sound really good at this music

  • @TheMetalFloyd666

If the person wants to use a Fender great. But there are still much higher end makers than Fender. Why not use a Fender? can be answered with "why use a Fender when there are so many superior makers out there that turn out a better product?"

  • @ThieleM i can't agree, there is not such a thing as "better than fender", most of fenders products are quality, you can't get better than that, but you can get -what you said- a different sound what is better for, the guitar that allen used, is equal to fender but it's a different sound

  • @TheMetalFloyd666

I have some swamp land for you in New Jersey. Want to buy it and build a castle?

  • @ThieleM what? are you mad cause i don't agree, i don't say that fender is better, but they are top quality, it's just what sound you like, what is best for you. if you can't accept that you can keep your castle and live in your own truth, i won't stop you...

  • @TheMetalFloyd666

What makes you think I am mad? I do have swamp land that you can buy AND if you cant tell that a Tom Anderson or Tyler is better made guitar to than a custom shop Fender, much less a factory floor model, that just means I dont have to wait as long to get one.

  • @ThieleM there are factory fenders but that are not the fenders i am talking about, tyler is shurely top Quality but fender is too, it's just what sound you like, im not trying to win a discussion but it's true what i say (btw i don't have a custom shop, you have these factorymade guiutars of fender bur rhey suck, you were right in that) my strat is handmade

  • @TheMetalFloyd666

Top line Fenders are super nice guitars, but they are not top line guitars. Fender has been elipsed by the boutique makers. I have a nice custom shop relic....cool guitar. It doesnt hold a candle to my Andersons or my Tyler in terms of build quality and hardware. In a way I kind of agree about it being what sound you like but using that you could say that liking a 50 dollar Hondo makes it as good as a high end strat. You just shot a torpedo into your argument.

  • @TheMetalFloyd666

I your strat from the 60's or 50's? If it isnt then that guitar has a neck made on CNC and a body made on CNC. Fender has been handfinishing guitars for decades now....the main work is done on CNC. Nothing wrong with that but if you think ANY Fender you can buy or have bought in the last 30 years is handmade you are crazy.

By the way, I used to work for the Custom Shop. It was a nice place to work and Fender treats people well.

  • @ThieleM I have a custom Suhr, and I can tell you hands down it is better than ANY guitar I've ever played in terms of playability and sound. I've played plenty of high end strats and I'm sorry but there isn't any competition.

  • @nezmaster1

I have 2 suhrs, a Guthrie Govan sig and an HSS Classic.

    I just love em.

  • @nezmaster1

I believe you may be confusing me with ThemetalFloyd666....I am making the same point you are making.

  • @ThieleM I know, I was backing your opinion.

  • @nezmaster1

Thought so...just wanted to be clear.

Nice to meet another Suhr owner

  • @TheMetalFloyd666 I have a custom Suhr, and I can tell you hands down it is better than ANY guitar I've ever played in terms of playability and sound. I've played plenty of high end strats and I'm sorry but there isn't any competition.

  • @nezmaster1 you guys don't understand me, in a certain way i am talking about a factory fender, but i customize the guitar for may self, like: change neck, frets, pickups etc why buy a handmade guitar if you can also make it perfect for your self?

  • @TheMetalFloyd666 I'm assuming you aren't a professional lutheir/tech, so buying a hand made guitar with access to the best tonewoods and materials is a better option than buying necks and other parts. Doing all that would cost you plenty of money and take plenty of time to the point it isn't worth it.

  • @nezmaster1 so why does (for example) david gilmour uses fender? as far as i know he knows a lot about tones, take look at his pedal board or amps... i find david gilmour the best guitarist ever, and not only because of his songs and playing style, he has the most beautifull tone

  • @TheMetalFloyd666 Eric Johnson has the best tone in guitar history. I know he uses Strats, and they have *that* sound, but we wouldn't know if it'd sound better, or he'd play better, with a higher end guitar.

  • @nezmaster1 no no no, eric johnsons carriere was too short too create the best tone, there is lots of time needed, gilmour is definitly the best, but yeah, still, thats my opinion

  • @TheMetalFloyd666 His career was too short...? His career spands as long, if not longer than Gilmour's, Eric Johnson's new album is coming out in a month. you don't know what you're talking about.

  • @nezmaster1 srry i was confusing him with someone else, but still that doesn't change anything

  • Allen teaches at M.I. I would sit for hours just listening to his playing. When you hear it live it's amazing. The melodies and musicality he possesses is mindboggling. He's probably the first guy I've seen that really becomes one with his guitar. Effortless Mastery indeed.

  • Just bought this tune from iTunes. Oh man, there is so much going on and the crystal clear production deserves mention. I can honestly say I've never heard anyone blend southern elements, like the pedal steel, into jazz fusion as well as this cat does.

  • @JonP1961

My bad on the jazz fusion reference. I meant "Onramp"... yeah, bought that one too ;)

  • So great to see how he is feeling and enjoying it! :D

  • Yeah Yeah!The best!

  • The best!

  • Wholly fuck. This guy is like Jeff Beck and Larry Carlton - awesome.

  • i like how he changed his tone in the middle of the tune - can't do that with a rack system! =P

picking with your fingers is a great way to get great true tone and feel out of a guitar!

  • great great player!

  • So nice to hear someone who plays like this, with taste and rstraint, in a day when mindless blowing has become the norm. Great tone.

  • A new favorite of mines :D

  • oooh baby

  • Any amp on this man's hands will sound perfect!! He is a master of feel!!

  • Allen has amazing note choice and an incredible feel!

  • Sort of reminds me of Umphrey's and Holdsworth, good player.

The Alchemist is pretty badass too

  • amazing reallly reallly coool sounding guy

  • What a beautiful touch, it reminds me andy timmons

  • great taste! i love Andy

  • @richardwu0609 Who's Andy?

  • bravissimo sound perfetto veramente bello grazie per questo momento..fantastico giuseppe pippomazzocchio channel

  • larry carlton meets shawn lane on nepal.. hahah

    no seriously, i loved it

  • The amp Isn't technically a hybrid. It is an all tube amp, but the Delay & Reverb are digital. Hell of an amp though; nothing like the fat rich gain you get when the thing is cranked...

  • fantastic

    regards

  • so nice

  • I agree I tried this amp a few times & its whacked!! However Allen Hinds can play his ass off.......

  • Great tone Allen! You got the touch.

  • This is what music is all about.... thousands and thousands worth of musical gear.

  • Comment removed

  • reminds me a little of allan(sp?) holdsworth

  • Such feeling... Really really great

  • What a great player Allen is. Great feel, and his time is always so good!

  • Allen Hinds was born with a guitar.

  • sounds difficult

  • I thought the description said "Allen Hinds rich, soulful playing style is supported in spades by the *expensiveness*, responsiveness and sensitivity of Bogner Alchemist™." LOL. beautiful playing. He really seems to be playing for himself.

  • Nice playing, sounds a lot like Alex Machacek's style....perhaps this guy taught Alex?

  • WOW!!!. What's that between 3:55 and 4:00? Brilliant playing!

  • it's just a trick

play an artificial harmonic.. and bend the note by pushing in the string at the headstock.. in front of the nut

  • Yea I actually find his other stuff that he does far more interesting haha!

  • Unbelievable..

  • Excelent guitar player, amazing...

  • amazing guitar player !

    wonderful music !

  • "Falling up" is one of the best cd I ve listen to the last year!!

    Git old student also..

  • Very nice. Allen and Wayne Krantz move me...

  • i get to play that guitar weekly...its set up so beautiful. low action and no string buzz..... amazing

  • I sat in on Allens open councelings twice a week at G.I.T. for 2 years. He's the most talented guitarist I've ever seen.

  • the first itunes song ive purchased this year...great playing and tone!!

love the chirp at 2:20..sounds like that maple neck is a great match with the darker alchemist lead tone.

was the original recording done with a dumble?

  • Really nice song, and tasty playing!

    Congratulation!

    I love it!

    Greeting from Hungary!!!

  • Can you explain what you mean by hybrid? I just picked one of these up and it's straight ahead tubes in your throat tone. It's not like the line 6 if that's what you comparing it too, check one out

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, but ONLY the effects are digital. everything beyond that is pure tube. It's not a hybrid, check the actual specs on it.

  • I'm gonna venture a guess.. (pure speculation) that Bogner designed the the amp for the most part and Line 6 designed the effects. Line 6 is probably mass producing in their factories with printed circuits and such( vs hand wiring) to keep the cost down. Not a big deal sense Fender and Marshall have been doing this for years. Sounds great and I'd take it over a Spider ANY DAY! :)

  • aww seriously? still nice nevertheless

  • Well, I tried an amp by line 6 and bogner the other day.I tell you, it had nothing to do with the bogner alchemist I had tried previously. The line 6 amp had some awful digital distortion emulators. The alchemist, on the other hand, had just the warmest tone I've ever heard. From clean channel to dirty channel, it was just flawless.I hope I can get one someday, because I think I'm in love haha.

    Cheers!

  • Hey man,

If you get the chance, pick one up.

I got the 112 Alchemist, I traded in a Twin Reverb from the 70's in for it. Best deal i ever made!!!!!

    very versitile amp!

  • Dont care much for any of ur comments sir but its freedom of speech, even if the opnion stinks. Ive owned alot of amps including fender blackface and several mesas, marshalls, line 6and onand on.NONE compare in sound to the(hybrid lol) bogner alchemist, but there again its my opinion(but a damn good one)

  • Beautiful playing and guitar...!

    What about the guitar?

    Very cool

  • He's using Xotic Guitars.

  • beautiful

  • can someone tell what the songtitle is he performs, and maybe on which of his CDs i can find that one...i love this tune....

  • this is "Falling up" from his last cd that has the same name of the song.

  • Super!

  • Fantastic¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Great playing.. nice and musical

  • Simply beautiful and inspiring playing. The phrasing is so damn refreshing. Wow!

  • woww

  • Allen huge, really a great game of touch and sound, great shades! not to mention the amplifier, with the Bogner Alchemist HIS has done a really bargain, a new jewel in the market, can you give us an pensierino seen the price very interesting and saw verstilità! Congratulations!

    Regards.

  • Allens the man! What a crazy album it was!

    what a smooth player!

    so garsedy!

  • Great amp, great tune, great player!

  • Great way for a manufacturer to show off their amps! Allen Hinds is a killer player, so fluid! Was the amp mic'ed?
