sapevo che fosse un ottimo Alvaro ma anche in Otello è assai meritevole...e metterei da parte sciocche sentenze 'i tedeschi non sanno cantare l'opera italiana' ...

Précisement... la seul chose appropriée pour les allemands est la cacophonie wagnerienne... dans le meilleur des cas chantée par des chanteurs muets ou, encore mieux, des bergers allemands.

Between 1951 and 1970 he was one of the pillars of the Bayreuth Festival ensemble, singing all Wagner tenor roles. Wieland Wagner called him "my hero", because he was always prepared and available.
Great job,BRAVO Windgassen.Both the powerful and soft notes sound well.Strange to hear this in German though...

I have loved Windgassen's Wagner all along. Now in my old age I find out he was as good as any of the great otellos. What an artist! Cris Sanchez
