  • Happy Birthday Man-Child of Fatima, Mr President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

  • It's time we go green and stop polluting mother earth!

  • It is fueled by natural gas. The only way the flame could go out would be by cutting off the source of natural gas.

  • @UND68 Technically, it can go out, but it is immediately reignited via electronic ignition. The final burner was a specially designed torch created by the Institute of Gas Technology with an electrical ignition which kept the flame lit in wind or rain and which fed the gas oxygen to create the correct color.

  • @Dogheadj Thanks for your input. I was not aware that it could go out.

  • @UND68 Sure. There's a very good article on JFK's original gravesite; the construction of his present gravesite and eternal flame; and his reinterment on Google.

  • How does the flame survive winter?

  • Nice video tour. I've been there before. Arlington National Cemetery is such a beautiful place.
