"The Tortellis" was a spinoff of "Cheers." Nick Tortelli, the main character played by Dan Hedaya, was the ex-husband of Rhea Perlman's Carla.
It looked like CBS was ignored by the viewers on Tuesdays at that time. The most watched program on the grid was "Moonlighting," which was at the height of its popularity.
Please note that FOX inaugurated its prime time programming that very same month.
HSB (Hill Street Blues) was the first sucessful television cop show since Adam-12 in the 1960's. when this show died, producers wanted live action. Hence was born C.O.P.S . Whom everyone has watched and seen in the past 25 years. Live action, take downs. Whoda thought that Cops would lead to reality TV?
And are we still sick of it in 2010, YES!!
Give me back a fantasy Island with a Gilligan.....PLEASE!
Sledge Hammer..never saw it. Moonlighting was intriging, nice score with a long intro. Max Headroom wouldn't become famouse until the first MTV video. (look, you can barely see the 1/10th of a second title of this show. Spies I never saw, given this wannabe takeoff track from Moonlighting, who would? Matlock resurged Columbo, the theme score was right and the show worked. Gimme A Break dealt to much with black issues in 1987. Joey Lawernce was the only one to survive after. The Tortellis, nah..
@SuperRiverratt In regards to GIMME A BREAK, it had been NOT ONLY Joey Lawrence, but ALSO Telma Hopkins AND Rosetta LeNoire going on to have further success(FAMILY MATTERS), by the way...
