Sorry, I meant no offence to young music listeners, and of course you're right generalisations are unfair though I have to say I didn't make one. It's just that the sensitivity and beauty of the vocals and the music on this song is so effective in creating a subtle atmosphere that sadly today no bands see profit in reproducing. To be fair PJ Harvey and others may be the way forward, at least in the non-gun toting parts of England!
Rap music is the pharmacology of testosterone expressed in sound. That doesn't make it music, it just makes it sound. You have to be a musician to make music. Atomic Rooster were, and did.
This song came to mind today from nowhere. I remembered from hearing it once only on a Sunday afternoon on Radio One back in the seventies revising for my o-levels! I guess you could therefore say it has stood the test of time.
Wonderful song, great band! I wonder if the kids today know what they're really missing, THIS is music! Real music by real musicians, motivated by their passions and talent and not money!
There's still talented folk making genuinely accomplished music today, problem is they are far harder to discover probably due to - as you say - money / market forces.
Oh, I know there is fine talent out there but it seems that crap is what the mainstream promotes heavily. I digress, I can be a bit of a snob whem it comes to music!
Why does everyone always generalise kids as always listening to rap and all that other commercial bullshit? I love Atomic Rooster and other bands of that era and im only 14.
Because that is what is usually observed with the younger ones these days. You are very rare among your age group and head of the pack as far as I'm concerned.
I can't blame them. I only got in touch with Atomic Rooster and Robin Trower for example quite recently. I knew them when I was 18 but I am sure I couldnt feel them as I feel now. Stupid me!
@wooooooo9 Its not your fault, man. Most kids are just douche bags, we all were at one time. Some wisen up more than others. Good to see that you did. Keep listening to REAL MUSIC. Regards.
I'm glad you do. Most kids(Hell most adults) are infected by the culture we live in musically. My sons are 14 and 16 and they listen to what they like. ..And even though I hate it that includes some rap/hiphop ,what I consider crap. They do however like a bunch of my old shit Beatles,Hendrix,Gallagher,Grateful Dead<blues...I have yet to get em into Bluegrass But I let em know it's all cool and if you want to play ..get it on! Glad you like this stuff.
@wooooooo9 Because it's current and unless they go actively searching or are educated, unfortunately we're the few who get the pleasure or knowing! :/
I still listen to Atomic Rooster at least 2 or 3 times a week! It just gives me a great feeling knowing that Vincent Crane put everything he had into his music! That was a big part of his death at such an early age. RIP Mr. Crane. We still miss you down here! Thanks for sharing maciekstudio!
This song was written and sung by the heart! IT really is great... I'M lost for words, other than it just sucks you right in with it and allows your mind to paint pics! I always thought Vincent sang this ,but not really sure? Anybody know for sure?
