@marleysisneros if you listen to many of Thomas Newman scores, they always almost sound simular. i have noticed it allot; from American Beauty, to Finding Nemo..they all have that Newman sound that is his trademark.
Ryan Devlin crawled through 11 pages of shit smelling repetitiveness you can't even imagine, ten pages more than a normal person with something to do would have, just to find the comment by "AforDakadakos" and reply with SO WAS RED
i wish i could tell you that the monopoly guy fought a good fight and that the sisters let him be.... i wish i could tell you that.... but prison is no fairytale ;D
Personally, I find the first 31 seconds to be the most gripping. It manages to sound ominous, solemn, bleak, and unbelievably beautiful all at the same time
@mickb2410 I don't believe he actually gets rapped in the film though. I do remember the first time Boggs tried to rape him("You fight better that way"). But Andy fights so hard he falls to the floor and the Sisters beat him up. Still one of the best films ever made regardless.
@Conkern65 Imagine, "You've got a friend in me" In Shawshank Redmeption. Haha Buzz can be Andy, and Woody can be Red. Andy's Room is Shawshank and Andy is Worden Norton
There's a glaring plot hole in this movie... even though Red is a figment of Tim Robbin's imagination, you can see him directly interacting with other characters throughout the film.
I knew this had to be by: Hans Zimmer, James Newton-Howard, Harry Gregson-Williams, Thomas Newman, John Williams, or Jerry Goldsmith...so it's Newman eh.
Wow!!! I guess you can find mostly anything on youtube. For some reason this theme popped into my head while I was doing laundry and I was trying to find it then.....BAM!!!!!! a little voice said check youtube. Great job for putting this up for some of us nerds....hahahahahaha
It begins with a simple brooding bass progression. Then at 0:10, a chorus of violins, sounding like lamentation, comes in. The bass adds an extra beat at 0:31, as if its heart is fluttering. At 0:43 come the horns, and they exit quickly; they alter the whole tune, which changes back when they go. There is a lull; the violins hold sway, then the bass comes in strong again. A single burst of percussion at 1:25. Then it ends the same way it began, with the bass. And that's the Stoic Theme.
I haven't watched this film before, but alot of my friends recommend it. I'll watch it soon enough. This track alone makes me think of The Green Mile, so if one track can remind me of a film as good as The Green Mile, the whole film must be legendary.
@FalconHDTV dude you HAVE to watch this now..i love the green mile, same director as shawshank, (you probably already knew that) but i have 2 say this movie blows the green mile out of the water...its on netflix instant play if u have that..go watch it now! :)
@flyculture21 Not only in the Top 10 on First Place on Imdb.. go and try to beat the first to parts of the Godfather and Pulp Fuction freaking amazing.. just like the movie it self
and the Quote I thought was best was. "Salvation Lies in within" how it was used twice by the warden and Andy Dufresne
0:52 Andy came to shawshank in early 1947 for murdering his wife and the fella she was banging. On the outside, he was president of a large Portland bank, good work for a man as young as he was...
And so when Andy Dufresne came to me in 1949 and asked if I could smuggle Rita Hayworth into the prison for him, I said it would be no problem at all. And it wasn't.
