1st. The vidoe where the two officers are killed seems to be in a good quality compared to the one transmited by the tv with the other officers and thier funeral. So i think that this part is played by actors. You can tell that even that right after the 1st cop is killed the second drops the camera and runs but than we see this guy trying to kill the 2nd cop while the camera is moving.

Leatherface Is LOOSELY BASED ON ED GEIN. LOOSELY. Go to wikipedia and look up "Ed Gein" he was, without a doubt, real, I can show you his warrens for his arrests, BUT He is not leatherface. He's kinda like a springboard for Leatherface. Tobe Hooper lived near Gein's murder house and watched it burn to the ground and thats what inspired him to create the FICTIONAL character know only as "Leatherface"
