  • Sounds a bit farty to me... No mufflers?

  • @madpulsarbroN13 yeah your right, on my way up to the muffler shop to get a muffler system fitted, sounds better now !

  • @ruwithlee1970 Holden are a division of GM, but this was back when they developed their own engines from scratch. They have a few parts in common with Chevy engines, but they are original. This was the biggest 6 cylinder Holden made themselves. There are other sizes based around the same block; 138, 149, 173, 179, 186 and 202 cubic inch engines. In their day, they were beating 351 Cleveland powered Ford Falcons in racing

  • whats up with the exhaust

  • hi, nothing is wrong with the exhaust, just dropped the motor in the day before and just had the extractors on , the day i took the video i was driving it up to the exhaust shop to have the muffler system fitted, now it sounds nice , thanks for looking

  • It look's like it could be a CHEVY is Holden GM offshoot like Olds or Buick ? I wish I could get one of those here in the US as it would be different , but still easy to find parts ! Nice car or / truck would have to fix that Wrong side drive though! Haha!

  • howdy from australia, wish it was a chevy with a 350 in a, but it is a good old HQ 1972 holden ute with a 202 6 cylinder red motor with triple su's, i replaced the running gear with a 5 speed supra gearbox and 10 bolt salisbury diff, and to answer your question about holden, that is the name gm gave there cars in australia, then you have all the car names like belmont, kingswood, commodore, torana, monaro, statesman, and so as 4 wrong side drive, we have stangs over here still with left hand drive

  • Amazing engine bay you have there mate! Very clean!

  • hi, my carbies are triple su's ,not triple webers like your mates torana, just looking at triple webers make you think you should go back to uni to get a degree on tuning carbies , but the triple su's mate once they are tuned you do not have to touch them . before i bought them did some research on them and everyone put them down , always going out of sync , mungrels to tune, unquote secret is getting them all reconditioned , tuning triples su's is a piece of cake , thanks for looking

  • Hey doing the same to my 186 with the triples. love the heat sheild and cold air idea going to use that. also what dizzy are you running? and what brand are those air filters on the carbies??

  • hi mate , just running a normal dizzy, and the brand of air filters are ramflo , thanks for lookin

  • Hey doing the same to my 186 with the triples. love the heat sheild and cold air idea going to use that. also what dizzy are you running?

  • g'day, just runnin a normal dizzy, thanks for havin a peek

  • love the fade from red to yellow

  • thanks for the comment dexter, wanted to do something different !

  • looks great man, love the triples. got a set on my hot 179. once you can tune them your laughing , do you run a fuel regulator ?

  • hi straightsix, thanks for the comment , yeah mate love me old school stuff, people say you have to be a genius to tune them or it must take you hours to tune them , the secret is doing up the 3 carbies so they are all in the same condition, then tuning is a breeze, i did not know how to tune them but the bloke i got to do them up showed me a couple of times now i rechon i could do them myself the hardest part is reconditiong the carbies by the way i do run a fuel regulator which is set at 3psi

  • hi again straightsix, just thought i would let you know she does a 1/4 mile in 16s, but do not know if that is right yet as on the day i was loosing power and did not pick up the accelarator linkage on the round bar slipped about a 1/4 of an inch which was a fair bit and a v8 falcon only beat me by about 6 feet at the finish on a handicap race, so if i would have had full power i would have won!

  • hi again straightsix, just thought i would let you know she does a 1/4 mile in 16s,not bad for a hq but do not know if that is right yet as on the day i was loosing power and did not pick up the accelarator linkage on the round bar slipped about a 1/4 of an inch which was a fair bit and a v8 falcon only beat me by about 6 feet at the finish on a handicap race, so if i would have had full power i would have won!

  • Mad Dude

  • thanks for spendin the time to have a look and makin a comment mr hummer cheers

  • what head is on ya 202 ? my auncle had a bombed 202 with 179 head bomed of its tit 350 4 barrel holly stage 3 race cam 4 sp celica box 3 inch hot dog bord 60thou

  • hi 2553, just got a yella terra head with head work done plus double valve springs, usual stuff, cheers

  • Awesome mate! I've got an HQ Kingswood, worked 202 also with 30/70 cam and X2 setup. Great combo with a YT head and good exhaust. More than enough for fun when you want it, or cruising non-stop.

  • thanks for lookin mcbleh , just an old rev head tryin to keep old school stuff alive so the younger generation can look and admire the good old stuff from the old days, and also i get a buzz at the lights when a hq gives these turbos ago, and they think s*@t whats he got in that !, mind you the five speed supra gearbox helps

  • sick engine, can i ask what size cam you are using, i have had douts with the su's, have heard that they are easily put out of tune by different air pressure, i have a highly worked 202 but am leaning towards triple injected webbers tho i also have su's, sounds like it runs perfect

  • g'day mate, sorry for the late reply been on holidays, the cam from memory is a 30/70, and regarding the su's they are tops in my book, in my view you have got to have an old mechanic who lived and breathed su's in his apprenticeship, and knows how to do them up , as for the different air pressure give that one to the myth busters check out my other video type into youtube 'WORKED 202 RED MOTOR 'and you will see the motor before i put it in regards from an old schooler and thanks for looking

  • Very nice mate. Quick question, which needles are you using in the SU's. I realise every engine is different, but I have a engine that is similarly spec'ed to yours, and I am just about to bolt a set of SU's onto it to replace the Holley. Sounds great by the way, love the orange extractors! Cheers.

  • thanks for looking and the comment oldmate, yeah your right every engine is different and the mechanic who did up my su's, his forgettery is better than is memory, anyhow i asked him and he said there are 5 needles for red motors and he thinks he either used the rh or the rg , but he said he may have used the rg as the old girls like to run that whisker rich as for the orange extractors, vht are mad as i think they don't make orange any more, i had to search all of australia for 2 cans cheers

  • Cheers for that.

Did he mention the OA6 needle by any chance? This is what I am hoping to use in my setup, and by comparing the RG and RH needles to the OA6, it seems the OA6 is slightly leaner than the RH, and a fair bit leaner than the RG. I use a free program called WinSu, its great. Well, we'll see within the next month or so wether I need richer needles. All that searching paid off, they look great!

  • no mate, i did not hear that number mentioned, but he has got everything just right, can just get to a crawl in fourth gear then slowly accelerate and not a hesitation, had my doubts about using su's ,did a bit of research on the net every one hates them but after just a week i am converted, all old school stuff is alright for me ! have a good one

  • Sounds like its spot on then. Ive had some doubts as well, almost everyone Ive talked to about SU's thinks they are junk and that a 4 barrel would shit over them. Im convinced they work, just gotta keep them maintained I'll be putting up a vid of my setup once it's up and running, and a comparison between the 320 Holley and the SU's over the 1/4 - if you're interested, should be done in the next month or so. Not at a real dragstrip, on a back road around here. haha! Cheers for the help mate!

  • hi oldmate ,i think why so many people have trouble with su's they buy them for around 300-400 bucks stick them on and say to someone ,tune them, i can not talk as i did the same thing, but the bloke said to me re kit the whole lot and you won't have any trouble ,it cost me $600 but money well spent, same with tuning i read forums and it got very confusing , i have had 2 lessons and i think i can do it, time will tell LOL
