  • It sounds like an earler song made by Sonny and Cher, called, Little man. So it's surprising it won the contest.

  • Dear fuckercuntemilyosmen GB was a member of the Eurovision Television Network which was why we took part. Bye

  • how come United Kingdom is Included when we wasn't apart of Europe back then

  • Thanks Phil and Bill!!

  • They didn't half make a balls up of the thing but at least we win it

  • Long Live Gross Britannian !!!!!!!

  • Ti Amo!

  • Ti AmoOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!

  • ザ ベストテン

  • Quaint! Stiff lipped, formal and full of delightful live blunders. Today's outtakes programmes would have had a field day here. Sandie was great though. Very unassuming personality and a great voice. Hey, has anyone seen her recently? She hardly looks any different!

  • Sandie thought Puppet on a String was a silly little song and she didn't want to sing it. She was right but her powerful voice and personality carried it through. Sounds like a German Umpha song

  • A brilliant singer. I remember watching this on t.v at the time..Fab-u-lous

  • Gracious! They were so grave and formal and dramatic in the judging back in the day. You'd think it was the UN Security Council or the Olympics or the Nobel Committee or something important...

  • The fact is sandie won and she deseved it.

  • exactly, is he serious?

  • NO WAY !

  • She is beautiful!

  • Fantastic Sandie and beautiful voice in the world. SANDIE SHAW NUMBER ONE

  • This pissed the French off so much!!

    Swinging Britian!!

  • Sorry azulezos, this is going realy below my level.

You are forgetting that it is a eurovision SONG contest and not a who looks better than... contest......

I tink the song is cure, but .and I repeat- even the writers of this song thought that the song "l'amour est bleu" was better. That was said in an interview in the 90's!!!!

I met Vicky as well.... several times..... so becarefull with what you are saying ;)

  • Sorry for the typo: I meant cuTe and not cuRe!

  • que no ho heu escolteu? spain one point

  • The UK had just been deeply humiliated in Europe as it had had to devalue the £ (pound) and impose price controls to protect against their stronger currencies. Then Sandie Shaw in her BARE FEET stuck it to the Europeans in far away Vienna that Saturday night and we could briefly look the Europeans in the eye again!

She was the talk of the school playground that morning!

  • oh f off.

  • I love Sandie, but this must be the worst dress she ever wore.

  • As I said before, it is a funny and happy song, just not the best.

In a television-interview even the writers of "Puppet on a string" confessed that they thought "l'Amour est Bleu" would be the winning song. And they wished they had written that song!

In the last decade Eurovision winners were all chosen by the (tele)votes of the audience: None of them managed to score a hit with their song and none of those artists were ever heard of ever again.

    Hallelujah for the big majority!!

  • sorry valentinmale, but I think it is 'puppet on a string' which is better:)I think it is just natural for it to win...

  • Sorry, It was a funny song, but certainly not the best.... "l'Amour est bleu" of this contest by Vicky was much better.... Even the writers of "Puppet on a string" thought Vicky would win.

Anyway, Vicky's song was a huge hit in Japan, Canada and -later on- covered by hundreds of artists.... "l'Amour est bleu" (Love is blue) is the best sold Eurovision song ever!

  • Look!! There will always be the minority like you who that don't agree. But thank heaven for the majority who clearly have the ability to recognize talent when they see it!!!!!

  • In the last decade Eurovision winners were all chosen by the (tele)votes of the audience: None of them managed to score a hit with their song and none of those artists were ever heard of ever again.

    Hallelujah for the big majority!!

  • white women are skanks???? Defend yourself, please

  • She is so godd buy i've never heard of her and i'm 40 years old. It was only by accident i found her when i was searching for "those were the days" and i liked her version as much as the original. She also sings in foreign languages and here she is clearly singing without lip sinking. It's too bad that class is not a prerequisite in today's age. white women today are skanks.

  • bella voce straordinaria

  • Very sexy lady.

  • Live she was even better than on a record !!!

  • This was 40 years ago, in another 40 years Europe will be Islamic and the white people will be the minority.

  • Yes, this contest has changed so much and you could have the best song in the world and it wouldnt win coz now its all politics, Greece give Cyprus their 12 points and vice-versa, the Scandinavian Countries all give each other points, its turned into a comedy as you can predict who will give who their 12 points!!!

  • This year Malta gave Great Britain 12 points in protest against the Eastern countries.

  • Such sweet memories. Love this lady. Find her new version of Puppet on her website.

  • Everyone was so polite. The best eurovision there has been for me.

  • vay anasına harbiden güzelmiş.

  • Wasn't the audience posh, with their suits and dickie bows, nobody waving a flag here. Isn't it sad that the land of Pop music (Britain) can't find a decent song to enter, this year's winner is a George Michael look alike.

  • Vote for RUSSIA in Eurovision 2007. Go Serebro!!!

    NEW VIDEO on my channal.

    THANKS A LOT!!!

  • Boy, the voting process took forever (It's probably instantaneous electronics now) and the song is chi-z, but yep, she sure sports a great voice here. And you can tell she's not just lip-synching, but having the time of her life.

  • Hilarious! Sandie has great voice here though

  • wow lol technology! poor guy had move that score bored what good job he did ! chessy song but sandie u sing it soo well

  • What a wonderful nostalgic clip!

  • You gotta love the end when she's desperate to unload the flowers and get the mike.

  • Does anyone have footage of the 1968 Eurovision scoring? That was a classic, with UK pipped to the post by Spain by just one vote.

  • Although the scoring system has changed many times since then, and there have been some winning songs with enormous margins as winners, I think I'm correct in saying that this remains the largest ever winning margin in the contest's history, in real terms, with more than double the runner up's points, and nearly 4 times more points than the song that came third, and then all the rest..

    You Go Girl!

  • What a wonderful clip! This was the night I became obsessed with Eurovision and now, one week short of 40 years on I still am, but it's great to see from all the wonderful Eurovision footage that's on YouTube that I'm not the only one!

Well, there've been some great and some awful songs that've won the Eurovision, but this was one of the really big winners.

  • wow .. what a nostalgic video. Vocally strong and the presentrice did her very very best in professionalty by than ofcource :-)

  • great live vocal..wonderful clip

  • still oner of the better pop eurovision winners. a classic.

  • Wow written by the man who produced United Irelands natinol anthem

  • How come the UK never won before if they had some of the greatest pop singers in world history?

  • Great moment in History. Erica Vaal experienced every Eurovision presenter's nightmare...Skipping a whole jury.
