  • wow..seems so simple..having tonsils removed on 2/6/2012 and was a little scared..

  • I have to get surgery on 2/15/12 I'm scared does it hurt it's gonna be my first time having surgery??? :(

  • @SierraBtb143 Don't worry. It's practically painless. I had mine removed when i was 8.

  • @SierraBtb143 I'm gonna get mine out 2/8/12 I'm very scared too. Your not the only one.

  • @SierraBtb143 No, it doesn't really hurt, you may struggle to swallow afterwards for about a day

  • I got my tonsils and adnoids out when I was seven. I had the procedure at like 7:00 AM and went home at like 11:00 AM. I lost 10 pounds cause I didn't want to eat anything :p

  • I got my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was in 6th grade. I got them removed at about 7:30 AM and went home at about 2:30 PM.

  • I had this done when I was six. I remember they offered orange or coca-cola anesthesia. I chose orange, it sucked.

  • someone please reply soon cause when i swollow it hurts on the right side not the left the right its beeen like this for 6 days so is this my toncills or is it just hurting

  • @marcusdarkness92 yeah i had mine removed on January 21st 2010 at 4:18pm and went home at 8:15pm

  • Haha I got mine out Monday. Bitch please nobody wants ice cream after that stuff. Hell you can't even have ice cream the first day! They specifically tell you no dairy products because they may upset your stomach and make you throw up and rip your stitches. Besides ice cream is super thick when you try to swallow. IT SUCKS!

  • after the sugrey comes the ice cream lol!

  • I got my tonsils removed already

  • I only came here to learn how to pronounce tonsillitis lol

  • I'm 13 and I am gonna have my tonsils removed, I think the doctor said I have some type of infection on mine. One tonsil is bigger than the other and it's touching my uvula.

  • I got a tonsillectomy on December 22nd after suffering from acute tonsillitis for several years. My tonsils were absolutely enormous; so much so that there was only about half an inch of space inbetween them. The procedure took 35 min but it took exactly 2 weeks for my throat to heal. If you're thinking of getting a tonsillectomy, prepare yourself for 1-2 weeks of severe pain. I was completely dependent on vicodin. In the end, no longer having to deal w/tonsillitis is worth two weeks of hell.

  • I think I got my tonsilitis from smoking weed too much -.-

  • im getting mine out on the 25th of jan 2012.

im scared can some one talk to me or somethink

  • @TeamAuB

    lol

  • I'm about to get mine out soon. Im 24. Hope it don't hurt that much.

  • i had my tonsils removed last week. i lost much pounds and everything. the pain was hurting at first when i sleep but now it dont. it been 10 days since i took em out.

  • i had mine removed when i was about 20 or 21 and it was the most painful experience of my life. i ended up losing almost 10 pounds in one week, due to not being able to eat or drink, and i was unable to sleep because of the extreme pain i had every time i swallowed my saliva.

to make matters even worse: one of the "scabs" fell off and i had to go to the ER to get it re-cauterized...while i was awake.

  • i had my tonsils removed

  • Poor Brett....

  • also, not drinking enough water can cause problems to be prolonged with tonsils as well. :)

  • sometimes the problem with tonsils can be certain food allergies adding to problems or causing problems, or having "to many" processed, and refined foods.

  • hello all, i just wanted to say that various forms of wheat based foods (cereals, pastas, breads) and gluten irritate the tonsils as well if you are allergic to it. :)

finding out if you are is key.

That stuff prolongs tonsil problems in "some" people and causes it to reoccur. ;)

    Hope info was helpful

    Peace and Love :)

  • I just got mine out this morning im 15 dr says older u are more it hurts mine dont hurt to much

  • I might be getting my Tonsils removed soon. I don't want To.

  • @CmaRiaBieBer101 I know I am recommended that I get mine removed because of recurring tonilitis I dont want to get it dont AT ALL but its for the better, I still wanna avoid it as much as possible. ;''''''''''''[ I am 14 yrs old how old r u?

  • @CmaRiaBieBer101 dont do it. my uvula is so swollen it looks like a boxing glove. whenever you have tonsillitis just dip a q-tip in hydrogen peroxide and gently touch each tonsil about 5 times and rub.

  • i had mono 2 times in a row followed by tonsilitis, i never got my tonsils out !! soo not fair

  • I get them removed in about a week. And im scared for the narcosis part thingy... How long does it take you to be awake? And can you talk a little after that? How does it work?

can someone please give me more information about this.

  • @imprezanic0le Don't be scared! The surgery is not bad I got my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was like 7 and was a little scare too about the anesthesia but I didn't feel a thing and in a blink of an eye I was already in the after surgery room. Your throat is gonna hurt a little and it's gonna be a little sore for a while but that's it after that is okay. Oh and also you will have to eat soft food like ice cream, soup and oatmeal stuff like that for a while so you don't hurt your wounds.

  • thx so much. im like 12 and i GOTTA get mine out very soon cause mine r like the size of golf balls and i could end up in the hospital if i dont get them out soon. cause i've been literally takin meds for them for almost 4 years. and im like REALLY nervous. :(

  • Comment removed

  • i have it and its pissing me off

  • I have it right now, i hope it will heal, and i dont have to come to surgery.

  • It's not actually really bad your just going to have a hell of a sore throat for about a week. And do not forget to drink fluids!!! Or you will throw up blood and have to go back to surgery like me!!!

  • @hood325 when i got mine out they said to my parents not to eat anything except liquids. But when it was over the first thing i ate was fried chicken and it didnt hurt at all. also the doctor said i had the most inflamed tonsils he had ever seen!!

  • what are the sideeffects? does my voice change ?

and is it painful after the surgery?

  • Anyone knows if tonsillitis can TRIGGER depression/stress, high body temperature? Every since I had it, i been experiencing these symptoms.

  • @MrAUFANATIC Tonsillitis can be brought on by many viruses, you probably contracted viral meningitis, not much you can do for viruses sadly, but popping a few extra multi-vitamins never hurts.

  • @RedSandDuster Not asking what causes it. Just asked can it trigger those things?

  • @MrAUFANATIC Tonsillitis cannot trigger any mental/emotional feeling, but if you're susceptible to one virus that leads me to believe you've contracted a multitude.

  • I just had the surgery yesterday..They made me stay in the recovery room for the whole night, to observe me -.-

  • jesus 8-10 hours im getting one next week and they said im only gunna be in a recovery room for 1 or 2 hours

  • I had mine taken out about two years ago, they burned mine out with a laser,i missed two and a half weeks of school, and i couldn't eat hardly,or sleep.

  • ice cream!!

  • ive got tonsilitis for the third time this year!

  • umm... do kids get that too??? im 11 and my throath hurts when i swallow....

  • @ellaizajala4ever same here!

  • @ellaizajala4ever yes all people do i have had it since i was 5.

  • i just got mine out they pretty much take you to the pre op and start an IV. Thats doesnt hurt. Then they put in fluids and other meds that help you not throw up. they then put a small pad behind you ear so u dont puke. Then they take you back to the op room. You brethe in oxigen through a mast and insert anistesa through your iv they ask you to count down from 100 then you wake up in the recovery room and it doesnt hurt i just got out of surgery 6 hours ago. im fine i can eat dricnk and swallow

  • I had my tonsils and adenoids removed this morning at 11:00 a.m. and it hurt really bad as soon as the anethesia has worn off.it hurt alot because they used a scalpel but it was removed gently instead of rough and I only bled a little but im still lucky.Im so glad they're gone because I was so tired of dealing with those nasty infections from them.

  • Yeeh I Chronic Tonsillitis.

  • =D i just had mine removed yersterday haha it wasnt so bad it hurts a lttle ot swallow now but ahha its nice seeing how they did it =D

  • ur eyes go crazy when u wake up so keep them closed

  • why does it turn silver?? (im only in 5th grade no judging)

  • so fucking scared to get them taken out..shit looks horrible..

  • Fuuuuck im so retarded.... I had all those symptoms 5 days ago. ANd i told the doctor and my rents that i was deadset serious that I had tonsilitis........

    5 days later....

    FUCKING TONSILITIS :(

  • I got mine done when I was 8, eating only ice-cream sounded really fun! But didn't sound so fun anymore after the surgery because I could barely even it -_- & ugh not brushing was really gross! My older brother & sister made fun of me for that so glad that was 10 years ago!

  • I got mine remove like about 3 years ago and its a really fast surgery. I when in like at 6am and i was out of the hospital like around 12ish. The day before surgery u cant eat or drink anything after 8pm i think Its not painful while you are all drug out but it is really painful once the anesthesia is gone. Your mouth and neck is gonna be really soar you wont be able to eat You also wont be able to wash your mouth for like one week.

  • am getting mine out in 2 weeks, it sounds fucking painful!!!

  • @sophiewilson1990 ITS NOT THAT BAD. I GOT MINES DONE

  • Man I want mine out! I had them drained once last December and now they are swollen and I haven't ate in the last 23 hours I'm 21 and I'm in college I run cross country and I hear the older you are the more it takes to recover. Is that true and will I be able to run my meet this weekend? Anyone please answer me?

  • i didnt get my tonsils removed until i was 10 yrs old.

  • when you get ur tonsils out its fun you can eat for 12 days only ice cream also you cant speak good

  • i still have both my tonsils and my pendix

  • I have a question do you feel anything when you have to surgery?? Or what happens like do uou dreak or watt plz reply thx

  • @carlossavala1 You wont feel a thing ;]

  • @carlossavala1 I had my appendix out almost 1 year ago to the date. It was my first surgery andI have to say the only pain you feel is afterwards when youre awake. They lay you down say this is goin to make you fall asleep. Next thing I knew I was waking up like nothing happened. It felt like I fell asleep and woke up 15 minutes later. Only it was 2 and half hours later. Nothing to worry about. Doctors take good care of you when youre under.

  • I had mine's removed and the doctor say's if i didnt remove them i would get heart problems :O Thank god i got the the fucker's out

  • i have cronic tonsillitis. i went to the doctor a couple of days ago, and he recommended that i did this surgery, and we scheduled it for this monday, tommrow. According to him, it is very recommendable that you remove your tonsils when you have tonsils infeccions for 3 or more times a year. Its a very simple prodedure, almost risk-free, and it really hepls people who constantly have throat infeccions, like me, so im really happy that im getting mine out :) hehe

  • I have a serious question here. OK, I've been tonsillitis since Christmas. Since then I only had a case of strep throat once and in the first week of July I had sore throat (viral pharyngitis). I been looking all over the internet for an answer and haven't found an answer yet. But my question is, are pharyngeal, and palatine tonsils the same thing which are the tonsils that they're taking out in this video? And can swollen tonsils (tonsillitis) for 7 months cause viral pharyngitis. Thanks!

  • I had this done when I was 5 (I'm 19 now), it hurts when you wake up, like a really bad sore throat, but after a day I was eating cereal and drinking carbonated drinks, both of which aren't recommended by the surgeon. I was supposed to eat Yoghurts and soups and other soft foods. It might be worse as an adult though.

  • omg i got this done last year on August 12 2010 and omg i couldnt eat anything for a whole 2 weeks all i could do was drink water and Gatorade it sucked so bad and i couldnt even swallow my own spit i had to carry around i towel to spit in!!!! :(

  • Im getting mine out sooon cause i have HUGE tonsils im just scared about the pain. And how much does your voice change cuz i have very congested soubdibg voice but im also a singer so im rly scared

  • just got mine out yesterday morning and for the first time in my life i can breath a full breth of air and sleep without snoring or struggling..the pain is like a 4 out of 10 but im told it will get worse. i highly reccommend this even tho im not healed yet and havent seen the final results.. also my voice is much different..where it used to be very naisaly it is now normal

  • anyone whos scared of getting them taken out or anything, its not bad at all. it only feels like a sore throat after. i got mine taken out in 2nd grade

  • stfu with that nopain shit the surgery it self d oesnt hurt but the fact that u can barely eat a thing and ur intense hunger is pain enough

  • @boogra1 yup i couldn't even swallow and i lost like 25 pounds!!

  • @sexytiger1498 well damn haha

  • i get mines taken out september 20 and i wish i would have had this done when i was younger. i am 21 now and i am scared as h%*# watching this lol

  • @rmc012690 im 13 just got mine done yesterday and my adnoids dont be scared haha you dont feel a thing its actually kinda fun when there putting you asleep cause there talking to you as your eyes are closing then when I woke up I was like wtf and I tried to get up and they were like NONONO haha it hurts after though but the medicine they give u helps ALOT just drink alot of fluids and it will stop the pain

  • @KoRncoba lol thanks cause i am scared thinking about the pain but i sure will drink plenty of fluids with my medicine.

  • @rmc012690 ehh the pain isnt TERRIBLE im not saying there is none tho but it does hurt just drink fluids and youll be fine! It swas a great expierence and you get alot of ice cream haha

  • @shant07 how low till the medicine started working... this is my second day and i have fever and my throat hurts horrible?

  • sounds like tonsils arent very good bacteria fighters :P

  • I've Had Tonsilitis Before Once And It Fucking Sucked! It Was Horrible! They Put Me On Antibiotics And They Somewhat Helped! And When I Woke Up This Morning I Took A Drink Of Water And This Shit Is Back! -__- And It Fucking Sucks!

  • Out**

  • I had mines on May 22,2008 and my litt cousin just got tonsils recently on July 22,2011 .

  • is it normal for me that im 19 and i have one tonsil growning on my left but i got the right one removed when i was young?when i was young, the right one was the only one i had.

  • @SkateborderX12 LMAO!!!

  • big help :D answered all my questions on how its done and what the before precedures are :) thanks a ton

  • One of my friends got this done when she was young, and she said it was the worst shit ever. Tons of bleeding and she said the pain was ridiculous. She stayed in bed for like a week. This was also over 15 years ago, so maybe they had shittier techniques back then.

  • Just got mine out.... today. And it sucks when the pain meds where off.

  • oh my god am gtn this done on the 1st of august! im off on longterm sick, barely been at work...ooowwwwww dreading ittttttttt

  • I used to get sore throats all the time and had trouble breathing at night. I finally got my tonsils cut out when I was 27 and I haven't really had any problems since. I was laid up for a week, but it was worth it and it was winter so I didn't miss much.

  • i have had it since i was a child and now i am 18 enough is enough i cant wait to have the surgery

  • I've had this since December....And i just got over viral pharyngitis and ready to get these suckers out

  • will this cure bronchitis?

  • i wanted to keep mine but no they ran away to texas

  • I'm gonna take my own out, Steak knife and Whisky : )

  • My tonsils are cabbages... but seriously they're huge.

  • @shant07 trust me i've had it done the pain hurts a lot when you wake up some of the things i was asked before surgery was what was my faveorite soda and ice cream flavor they do this to ensure pain is minimal (im 15 now had this when i was 5) but i don't think they took my adinoids out though but try to see if getting your tonsil's removed will be good for you

  • i dont have tonsils but im now scared.

  • I've got Tonsillitus at this second, I WANT THEM OUT ITS SO PAINFULLLL!!!!

  • i had mine taken out now im 14 and its been 5 years with them out

i would always wake up with a sore tonsil so my mom got sick of it and i had surgery

  • lol i dont have tonsilitis but my tonsil is torn in half i saw the doctor today she said she has no idea what it is haha thats cool...

  • i want my tonsils out there so annoying but i only had the symptoms once

  • tonsil surgery does not work! trust me i have my tonsils removed already and it only got worser.

  • @girlsgosa2004 Might of affected your brain a little too, because "Worser" is not a word...

By the way, I recommend people that are thinking of this procedure without an infected or problems with the tonsils to NOT do it. Tonsils help germs keep out of the body through the mouth, what I've been told by MANY people.

  • i once almost died from tonsillitis cuz i had a fever which was above 40... glad i'm better now :D

  • D:

  • mines long and can go to my tounge

  • After this I'm scared now D:

  • @shant07 I understand what uour saying. It happens to me too. But tonsils are not useless. because all the germs you get threw your mouth, your tonsils take em and they dont let em go to your body. ss basically, removing tonsils cud give you germs threw out your body.

  • oh good i was scared of this

  • Watch "Before his tonsils and adenoids were removed - Kaeden" on Youtube...do you think his voice will change?

  • Sure makes me feel old thinking to when everyone was getting them out because, as far as anyone knew, they didn't do anything but get infected... O_o

  • i want these things out theyre always getting me sick even though its like once a year it is still annoying my doctor said i can get them out next time i get strep throat

  • @iLuvDinoz you'll get an infection which could permenantly damage your voice and vocal cord its best that if they are bothering you constantly to go to a doctor and get them removed

  • I remimber when i got mine. I was about like 9 or 10 and i feel asleep a couple of minutes early because there was someone ahead of me. Then i woke up with pain in my throat.

  • so do tonsils cause bad breath or do tonsil stones? plz reply somebody.

  • @lambychop98 i'm pretty sure it's the tonsil stones, maybe both

  • i am gettin mine removed in 2 days, anyone got any heads up in what i can expect after surgery??? thanks

  • @d956impala im getting mine out in 4 days!

  • @SpyOpz94 im geting mine out in 13 days! lol

  • @d956impala pain in your throat and for a while you can only eat foods like ice cream, but the soft served kind hope this helps.

  • @fruitloop33344455555 what about if someone had an heart operation when they were small???

  • hey im 26 i was wondering if i get this surgery done iam i taking a risk with my life?

  • @Loadedmagsny Not a Major risk, But still. Its Minor.

  • wait? i thought the surgery is removing the punching bag muscles thing..

  • my ex-tonsil is just the same size in the video.....big enough even the doctor really ....

  • I went home after my surgery and I was 9!

  • This makes me shiver.......I'm so fortunate I've never got tosillitis b4. But being allowed to eat only ice cream for days sounds brilliant :D

  • @shant07 you should! =) i had it done many years ago and now they never get sore or anything like that. plus you get to eat all the ice cream you want! loll =) i do recommend it

  • my dcotors are crap!! the first one i went to said i had a bad case a glandula fever, n he prescribed me with somethin called trimefroprin i dunno how to spell it, this was the first time i had tonsilitis(i now hav it again, 3rd time in 6 months) n i found out tht trimefroprins for some freakin water infection o.o, iv gone to a better doctor now, i was in there1 min and he said it was bad tonsilitis prescribed me with penicilin for anti-biotics n iv been takin ibuprofen, its helps alot faster.

  • i really want this done on me. i get strep throat often like one every month or two and they get really serious and it gets really annoying. my mom had it done on her when she was young for a similar reason.

  • I'm getting them out tommorrow, thank god, I get it like 7 times a year.

  • i had my tonsils removed when i was 11.and i was awake during the whole procedure.at 1st they gave me regional acupuncture for 2 hours, inserted two needles thru my under jaw directly to tonsils.then a regional sedative was added. After that, they made me sit on a seat, tied my hands and legs,a nurse stood behind my back holding a cloth to blind my eyes.the doctor asked me open the mouth and proceeded.i could feel the scalpel when it cut the tonsils.blood spewed out like stream.

  • @LGPhibi that was like in 1950 lol?

  • @Artegr4 it was no joke. because of that i get scared of hospital & and obsessed with antiseptics' smell. I have not come to hospital since then. When i get ill and need medical care i only see the family doctor, every times i am given injections i almost vomit and get unconscious due to the smell of alcohols.im not scared of being injected, but the smell brings back the worst nightmare of my life...

  • Yesss... I dont have Tonsillitis along with my croup infections.

  • i had my tonsils removed yesterday and today i'm eating bread. i'm really happy that my recovery is going fast. i hope i'll be able to eat my spicy food in about a week and a half :D

  • I 've got cut my tonsils out like 2 days ago. It damn hurts but i hope finally i'll be healthy. Recovery is an individual thing and depends on a person. i barelly swollow my saliva but soll i'll be better. Tonsillectomy ROCKS !! ;D

  • Best part of it all is, you can only eat ice cream and drink only water for about a week after you get them removed.

  • Im getting mine out in 9 days :(

  • i have tonsillitis right now..this is like my 6th time im going to the hospital 1st June to see someone about if i can have them out...i hope i can ive had enough of it!!! i just want the damn things out :(

  • @xlozmannx My tonsils has swollen 5 times in the past few weeks,it happens a lot.Every time,we go to the doctor and he just gives me a prescription. So right now,Im off the prescription, and I been taking 4 pain pills a day 2 in the morning and 2 in the after noon. And they say its ok and that they will go down. But its gotten to the point that I can barely talk when I don't take the pain pills,my throat is sore, and its hard to drink, eat, and swllow. I also say the same thing D:

  • @BRANDIANN14 :( i had quincy once but in 6 days im getting my tonsills removed finally thank god! :) and i hope they let you have your out soon too, no one should go through the pain of tonsillitis :/

  • @xlozmannx I wish you good luck in surgery <3 and thanks, the best part about it is the icecream afterwards xD

  • @Numba14Sushii u need to ask for a doctors opinon first
