  • HIS FINDING AS PART OF A GROUP OF PEOPLE ALTHOUGH INCREDIBLY PERTINENT TO THE MODERN WORLD ALSO LEAVES ME DISCOURAGED, BECAUSE I FEEL HE IS REVERED TOO MUCH AS SOME SAVIOUR OF THE MODERN SCIENTIFIC WORLD... HE IS NOT THAT, HE DUBIOUSLY DISCOVERED THE STRUCTRUE OF A MOLECULE ***NOTHING MORE*** HE IS NOT A BIOCHEMIST OR CELL BIOLOGIST HE IS A STRUCTURAL CHEMIST AND A LYING ONE PRONE TO GAFFES AT THAT. HE WAS SACKED FROM COLD SPRING HARBOUR FOR A VERY VERY GOOD REASON. STUPID MAN

  • Good news for JKC people

  • Scientific endeavour is the search for truth, it is not about good or evil. He is not a racist, he merely spoke candidly. What if it is true that blacks are genetically destined to be on average less intelligent? What if that it is true? It's not outside of the realm of possibility by any means. We owe it to our intelligence to seek truth, whatever it is, even if it is hard for us to comes to terms with and challenges sociopolitical norms. His work has and will reduce suffering in the world.

  • What happened to the scholarly interview between Dr Watson and Henry Louis Gates jr discussing blacks? Why has it suspiciously disappeared from YouTube?

  • was her name jean gnome ..i called her jeannie .. she could have been attractive but she wouldnt wear lipstick .. call herself a scientist indeed she never understood dna

at all ..and she was difficult to work with .. imean i did all the crystal radiography work mysef but she got all the credit...or was it the other way around ive forgotten

..anyway shes dead now and cant contradict me.

  • Watson is genius !!

  • what? no devils?

  • ¡please! traduction to spanish!. I'am not understand!

Le envìo felicitaciones al Dr. James Watson, hace màs de 20 years yo leì su libro "La doble hèlice" y es un relato encantador de sus dias de juventud y pensamiento abierto a contemplar todas las posibilidades para descubrir el DNA!

    felicidades Dr. Watson!

  • learn english, bitch

  • Who cares if he speaks the truth with regard to fat people, higher IQ's or whatever. God, it's so American to hate great Americans because they speak the uncomfortable truth!

  • I just read this Watson quote on his Wikipedia page. "Whenever you interview fat people, you feel bad, because you know you're not going to hire them." LOL! And there are plenty more narrow minded/thoughtless quotes he has made.

  • Science msut deal with the truth and with facts.

Those who are protesting him just do not want to deal with facts.

  • @Bob2000system

He was sacked primarily because his racist comment actually had no scientific value or merit, not because people are politically correct idiot.

  • @DEFACTO9 Dr Watson's comments about the state of black Africa weren't "racist", but grains of wisdom cultivated by some of the most brilliant scientific minds of the twentieth century. Stop attacking people because your primitive mind is unwilling to acknowledge truth.

  • @strong8action

tell us which brilliant scientific minds? lololol

  • @strong8action And thanks to you and the rest of the trolls, James Watson will always be famous not just for the discovery of the Double-helix (which most of you trolls could really care less about) but also the his racist rhetoric. Most, if not all of you didn't know a single thing about Watson until the controversy. You, and your Stormfront trolls don't care about Science. All you care for agenda affiliation.

  • @NewOrleansboii The man is brilliant. A true scientist, not bound by ideological perscriptions, but on a quest for truth. As for your disgruntled commentary... Actually, I've admired Watson's career for a long time, and though I agree witg the Stormfront website, I am not an ideological troll like you are.

  • @DEFACTO9 It wasn't racist.

  • @SethHesio

It was one of the most racist things I have ever witnessed, get real.

  • @DEFACTO9 If it was true science it wouldn't be racist, but sadly it would appear that James Watson was wrong on this. Pseudo-science is no good. I take back what I said, credit to you.

  • @SethHesio That was very magnanimous of you. You have very special qualities... very rare and I respect that.

  • @DEFACTO9 Why thank you. I just felt it best to admit that I was wrong, be silly to have any pride on something like this. I was paraphrasing Christopher Hitchens with the "pseudo-science" part.

  • @SethHesio

AND THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS, THAT THE ABILITY TO CHANGE COURSE AND ADMIT FAULT, CHANGE COURSE AND SHOW IT ACTUALLY MAKES YOU NOBLE AND RESPECTED AMONGST PEOPLE IN A HEARTBEAT. AMAZING

  • @Bob2000system I agree Bob. It's tragic, there was another scientist conducting similar experiments on the brain and his research was cut off by the PC racial regime. If we could figure why the things are the way they are, we might be able to take steps to improve the problems,

  • watson is so awesome!

  • Thanks to Fencesandwind0ws for pointing out our slip. We've now corrected the title.

    Michael Marshall, online editorial assistant

  • "James Watson - co-discoverer of DNA".

Er... come on New Scientist, you can do better than that. He didn't discover DNA, he helped determine its molecular structure. Schoolboy error.

  • Fascinating, simply fascinating. It's amazing how much one man's work has helped research into disease and origins in more ways than we can begin to comprehend.
