I assume the accompaniment synth lines are coming from the ER1? I actually rather like them too, as well as the Evolver here. I think you have used them well.
techie stuff aside, that's one of the sickest songs I've heard coming outta two modules. I know the evolver has 4 osc. But are you able to play 4 different sequences on the evolver?
I've been curious, how do you set the er-1 to master midi clock only, so it starts/stops the evolver in time, but doesn't send midi notes? Lovely demo BTW.
Yes. Using MonoEvo and RE-1(connecting MIDI cable to sync) only. Other equipments are not used at all. If you use mono evolver key, you can edit parameters more easily and agressive!
@ghostradioshow (from manual) If you hold the SHIFT button while changing the Program or Bank, the sound will not change until you release the SHIFT button. If you hold the SHIFT button while changing the Program or Bank and the sequencer is running, when the SHIFT button is released the sequence will complete (according to the length of Sequence 1) before synchronously changing to the new program and its sequence.

I didn't know that though, thank you for pointing it out!
Can you switch tracks on the evolver as you do with the ER?

Just watching this makes me want to design a better drum machine to use with the evolver.
No offence re the Korg, it's just not the kind of sound/versatility that I envision.

what about the esx-1 ?
isn't it a sampler, too?
Xetod 3 years ago
I guess... expensive though.
For me anyway :)

the trusty mpc does the trick, you can jam on the mute groups to variate your beats in unique ways on the fly.

Evolver is the product of "Dave smith instruments". He also made SCI Prophet synthsizers.

Thanks. "shift + program change" is one of the unknown function. There is no description on the user's manual.
But it is very necessary function for using Evolver as a groovebox.
ghostradioshow 5 years ago
Is this an Electribe or Evolver function? What does it do?

Great work! Excellent use of Evolver.
By the way, this is the first time I've seen "shift + program change" in a live performance.
