It sure is satisfying though. But hey, it's more of a technicality thing. Most people who master Carl are probably adept in a lot of things such as piano and other tasks requiring timing and split-brain.
I just don't see why Arc allows him to have INSTANT midcombo resets and instant crossups that you can't block on reaction. "he is hard to play" bullshit doesn't justify what Carl can do, because in a way anyone is hard to play, the only difference is the amount of reward you get vs the time you put in, is different for each character.
I don't like how there are so many one or two move loops in CS2. Carl has j.B > j.2C, Tao has j.8D~A, Plat has 2C, and Hazama has 6C. Only two of those are practical enough to see regularly, but still, it's incredibly boring to watch.
@Omniofaco two moves? Platinum can use her 2C like 8 times in a combo, it prorates like nothing, also she has Hammer loop which leads to 7k. Jin also has DP loop which leads to 5-6k
@StarofRiley eh, I thought that the plat 2C combo was FC only. What I meant by "two of those are practical" is that carl and tao use their loops in many of their BnB combos.
Jin's DP loop isn't really what I'd call a loop, it's just a combo with a lot of DPs in it.
@jourdal Well I love kune. LOl, I remember in CT everyone thought Carl suck until they found that loop with him. Also about kune, I think they cut the amount of time cruse lasts. I mean if you do that, you won't spend most of the match blocking bug after bug. For Carl..Yeah, it's impossible to make him bad in less you make the doll's moves shitter.
@SlyCopper23 I don't understand all the Kune hate, his precurse game is so shitty and he's only A tier. They did cut curse time by a good amount (it also goes down just as fast if you get combo'd while your opponent is cursed), they cut curse damage by a good amount, they added same-move proration for j.236C, dives, and 6C rekka. What I don't get is that people just see 8k damage combos and declare him cheap and broken, and forget that he can't just do that whenever he wants off any hit.
@towelie893 What I notice is that he isn't as insane as was in CT. I didn't notice the nerfs to his cruse until now. All I seen was getting hit by a random and getting struck into a combo. And to be honest, I find kune the thrid easiest character to use. I don't know what's up with it. His timing for me( I'm a Tager player) isn't as hard as the rest. it seems you have all the time in the world to do his combos.
@towelie893 It's because people can't block, Kune annoys me because I have no pushblock and when he's in curse it's like a Zero in X-Factor+Sougenmu+Sentinel assist, if you have ever played Marvel you'd know how damn confusing that is to block and how everything Zero can do is safe. It's the same deal with Arakune.
@towelie893 its the entire concept of his character that i despise, teleporting safely out of the corner, being air born so long and throwing shit at you..i don't like hit and run character of course the hitting and running stops when you get cursed then you know what comes next
@jourdal True, it'd be nice if they never changed him as drastically as they did from CT to CS1. Obviously he was overpowered in CT, but as a character he was more fun to play as and also much more melee intensive. It's because of the changes to his drive and the fact that his precurse game is now much longer that he has to resort to playing keep away while trying to get a curse so that he can be not the worst character ever for 16 seconds.
@towelie893 actually i liked CS1's concept of hitting him resets curse....i wish they could integrate that with fever time..like..hitting him during curse reduces fever time..idk its tough to make people happy
@elevate07 it doesnt matter how hard you have to work, the reward shouldnt be any better than for a easier character seeing as it was your decision to main them
@jourdal True, at the very top levels of play, you should assume that everyone has hit the top of the learning curve for that character. At this point, being "hard to learn" is irreverent for balance, as everyone has gotten past that point.
I have to say though, "two in one" characters are VERY tricky to balance, as they have very silly things they can do by the sheer fact they can execute two attacks at one. Short of removing Nirvana, Carl will always have silly and tricky stuff he can do.
@jourdal Why's that. If it takes a week to become decent with Carl but an hour to become decent with Ragna then what's the point of taking the extra time with Carl? I'm not saying he should be broken but there should be a bigger reward for the extra work you put in.
@elevate07 i disagree completely...you have varying learning curves but it shouldn't mean "oh this character is hard lets make him strong" thats like "oh this characters was ass last game lets make him broken (like bang)" and the ragna thing is an exaggeration a one hour ragna would get bodied.
@jourdal Well yeah that was an obvious exaggeration. I'm just saying there should be some kind of reward for overcoming a greater difficulty curve, not break them. Bang was, as you said, stupid. Rachel was worse. I guess it's just difference in opinion though.
Is not so simple. Just check Cs1 Carl..If you wanted to be able to connect the strong combos... you really need to put a lot of time, effort and practice.
Carl in Cs1 was one of the most damaging characater. He can easly deal 5.5k without gauge and 6.3k or 7k with 1 gauge. But the problem was the learning curve for that type of combo.
If you compare it to Ragna or Bang, doing 4k or 5k was really really simple...Not like Carl that need j2.c Allecan, volante, 5C and double clap.
@jourdal When Makoto or Noel start moaning like a whore in heat when you hit them I'll believe that they're more "fanservicy" than Litchi.
Regarding Arakune, what I love about people is that they think he's easy because his curse combos are easy, that really gives a good insight about how bad at the game they are lol.
practice that long for one character how retarded
