I am an Agnostic Atheist. I cannot know that there is a god 100%, but I refuse to believe the religious claims until they are proven true. I do not believe in god, and I'm not afraid to say I'm an atheist without the agnostic part....gnosticism pertains to my knowledge whereas a-theism pertains to my disbelief. If you don't believe the religious....You ARE an atheist.
I wish you were an atheist too, as the more people who care about what they believe as true, the better off we are as a society.

Well, that wasn't totally correct. I saw a survey result from the N.A.S of about "one percent believers in God". But those guys are top scientists, and among all scientists in America, not just the top scientists, the percentage of believers is actually 40. Still pretty different than the general public.

Firstly, atheism is the absence of a belief in a god - its not a belief in no gods, necessarily, but the absence of credulity with regards to theistic claims of god.
In terms of the other point you raised, well, does it matter what is actually real and true? If not, then yes, each person can live in their own personal world and believe what they want about the universe...that doesn't necessarily make it so...we could believe in geocentricity as hard as we want, it still won't
make it true....so if we agree that the universe is knowable, to any extent, and that reason can determine how things work, to a certain extent - i'm not arguing for a positivist position here, where science will be able to explain everything...i think there will always be gaps in our knowledge...and 'god' was, in the past, and still today, used to fill those gaps...atheism is more intellectually honest because it can admit what it doesnt know...apologies for the rambling rant..

I can tell you my experience with death. It was coming on from an overdose of robitusin. There are four plateus and after that death. I was falling off the fourth plateu. My past was slipping away from me; names, memories, place etc. All my body wanted to do was lie down and give up. I fought that and made it back home in the middle of the night by myself. Beyond is a void with which the human soul enters into and then proceeds back to this world.

LOL! Dude, you didn't OD. You were on dextromethorphan. What you described is completely typical for a 4th or 5th plateau trip. You were never even close to death. Your brain was just fucked for several hours.
at my weight and the amount i took i should be dead. i think two bottles of robitussin and a couple cigarettes dunked in it and smoked as well as whatever the other guy didn't drink is enough to kill someone at around 140 lbs. also my brain is still fucked 2 years later. i'm not going to recount every experience during that trip it still freaks me out. don't tell me what happened that night.
One bottle of Robitussin Cough contains about 350mg of DXM. Three bottles is about enough to make a 160 lb person stupid, or easily make a 140 lb person really stupid. But it won't kill you.
The more plausible reason you have any long-term physiological or psychological problems is that you and your friend didn't do your homework and got a type of Robitussin that contained other active ingredients in addition to DXM, which CAN be fatal in high doses.
No straight DXM. now 15.0 mg/kg is 4th plateau I weight ~64 kg. so 15.0mg/64kg = 952. now 3 bottles of DXM each containing 350 mg each equals 1050 mg.
Three bottles together contain 1064.6 mg of DXM, more precisely. I did all this math already. The range for the 3rd plateau is from 7.5 to 15.0 mg/kg, which for your weight would be from 476 to 952 mg. A tenth of a gram (1064mg - 952mg = 112mg) over the 4th plateau threshold is nothing.
And I used to read Erowid years ago, and even though I rarely did drugs, it was an interesting read. Erowid even says that 2,500 to 20,000 mg can be fatal. You were well below this range.
Also DXM is a Dissociative Drug. It can harm you. All drugs have negative side effects. No drug is perfect. Also I took that much MY FIRST DXM TRIP so you can see how that could mess someone up.
Yes, I know how one's first DXM trip can mess them up, since I'm almost embarrassed to say I've done it. However, I can't sympathize for you thinking it would be a good idea to swig down 2+ bottles of the shit your first time. I didn't even drink 2 bottles my first and only time, and I'm bigger than you (by weight).
I'm not saying DXM is totally safe. I'm saying you didn't overdose. As in, what you described is normal for the trip itself, not an overdose.
I don't ask for sympathy but here's the thing. I had taken them apart. I took a lower dose initially. About an hour later we weren't really feeling anything, that we noticed, and went and got more. Our trip was coming on and we kept going. I had forgotten dosage and time.
I had to fight to stay conscious and my heartrate was insane and i had trouble breathing. I had several damaging delusions and other complications. I don't like talking about that trip too much.
Ah. I kind of figured. You see, spacing your dosages out over time is exactly how one achieves a 5th plateau trip, also called "Plateau Sigma."

My impression of this video is that you think atheism means a 'dead end' in terms of atheist life and accomplishments. Yet without the thought that we are only here for a short time im not sure I would do anything! If I were to believe in the afterlife, it would be my fuel for extreme procrastination.
As an athiest I will achieve more in my lifetime and become the person that I want to be, rather than lie to myself, and pretend that the person I'd rather be isn't to exist yet?!
I got the impression that the video was a twist on the 'go into the light' when one dies. You know, like in the movie 'Ghost' with Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. At the end of the light there is heaven - oops - nope just a dead end.

Three bottles together contain 1064.6 mg of DXM, more precisely. I did all this math already. The range for the 3rd plateau is from 7.5 to 15.0 mg/kg, which for your weight would be from 476 to 952 mg. A tenth of a gram (1064mg - 952mg = 112mg) over the 4th plateau threshold is nothing.
And I used to read Erowid years ago, and even though I rarely did drugs, it was an interesting read. Erowid even says that 2,500 to 20,000 mg can be fatal. You were well below this range.

Also DXM is a Dissociative Drug. It can harm you. All drugs have negative side effects. No drug is perfect. Also I took that much MY FIRST DXM TRIP so you can see how that could mess someone up.

Yes, I know how one's first DXM trip can mess them up, since I'm almost embarrassed to say I've done it. However, I can't sympathize for you thinking it would be a good idea to swig down 2+ bottles of the shit your first time. I didn't even drink 2 bottles my first and only time, and I'm bigger than you (by weight).
I'm not saying DXM is totally safe. I'm saying you didn't overdose. As in, what you described is normal for the trip itself, not an overdose.

I don't ask for sympathy but here's the thing. I had taken them apart. I took a lower dose initially. About an hour later we weren't really feeling anything, that we noticed, and went and got more. Our trip was coming on and we kept going. I had forgotten dosage and time.
I had to fight to stay conscious and my heartrate was insane and i had trouble breathing. I had several damaging delusions and other complications. I don't like talking about that trip too much.

Ah. I kind of figured. You see, spacing your dosages out over time is exactly how one achieves a 5th plateau trip, also called "Plateau Sigma."
But the real reason I opened my mouth in the first place was that I took your first post to be a description of what you thought was a spiritual or supernatural experience of some kind. I was merely pointing out it had a perfectly rational explanation.

I am completely rational, other than my Dissociative Depersonalization. Also I know about "Plateau Sigma" and I say it resembles a form of psychosis rather than a trip.

The tunnel vision/the "tunnel of light" is a common halucination to have just before you go unconcious. Fighter-pilots have them all the time during G-force testing. But when you have gone unconscious, you see, feel, hear nothing, absolutely nothing! My impression of this video is that you think atheism means a 'dead end' in terms of atheist life and accomplishments. Yet without the thought that we are only here for a short time im not sure I would do anything! If I were to believe in the afterlife, it would be my fuel for extreme procrastination.
As an athiest I will achieve more in my lifetime and become the person that I want to be, rather than lie to myself, and pretend that the person I'd rather be isn't to exist yet?!

First of all, atheism is NOT believing in the existance of God, it's not something that requires faith, like a religion/cult/belief.
I don't hate God, as he doesn't exist. I don't hate the flying spaghetti monster, as he doesn't exist. It's really that simple.
