As much as I enjoyed the remake ("The Joker"), this original version of the story provides some really nightmarish thrills and Honor Blackman is absolutely incredible. The camera angles, the dark shadows, the music and the great performances all came together to make "Don't Look Behind You" one of the best psycholigical thrillers in the series along with "The House That Jack Built." I wish I could have seen its original broadcast on tape.
Was this on video or film? it has a video feel unlike the further series. This one was not shown in the USA but was shown in Canada in the early days of the CTV network.
@Laughandsong The exteriors were filmed, but the interiors were all videotape. (Videotape cameras were far from portable in those days; this was true in Great Britain through the early 1970's, when exteriors for "The Six Wives of Henry VII" and "Elizabeth R" were filmed and interiors taped.) Only kinescopes remain, however, because as in the U.S., the tape reels were extremely expensive, as well as huge and heavy. It was far easier to store 16mm film reels as opposed to the video canisters.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
@Noveltooner You're so right,Cathy really begins to break down in this, whereas in "The Joker",Emma is cool throughout.
Where's the tension if the leading character isn't sppoked thats why this is far superior.
"The House That Jack Built " is a great Emma Peel story, she is vulnerable in that.

The episode of C.Lee is the one you have called, "Never Never Say Die" which you have. I was watching it on your link when I wrote. My apologies.

do you happen to have the episode of the Avengers with Diana Rigg that has Peter Cushing
guest starring?
rjq552 3 years ago
Do you know which episode that is?
PhilippaRM 3 years ago
I am not real sure but I think it has to do with another visit from the cybernauts. Not the one in b/w with Michael Gouugh but Cushing and Lee.
rjq552 3 years ago
The Return of the Cybernauts perhaps?
I have posted that one, let me know if it's the one you mean.

Excellent - I know that the later episode 'The Joker' is a remake of this episode, so I've been dying to see this one in comparison!
