  • Hey i work at the front desk of that hotel

  • i live in ceder raoids i just move here from ohio cool vid

  • i agree with you sis i think that this guy sounds like a complete dumbass calling us dumbasses cause we do live more than to blocks away and so does g ma and aunt kris lives quite far away too so yeah he does need to get his story straight

  • fuck u dude my house got flooded and i lost everything but fema helped me out so i hope u rought in hell

  • wow u do not how dumb u just sounded thts like saying 2 ppl living next 2 the coast and a hurricane cums to move u just cant understand all the damage tht happened u dont live here u dont work here u didnt have ur life distoroyed in a matter of minutes ur just retarded u cant imagine all the damge and u no wut it sux it plain out sux

  • okay, I dont know how someone got my password to my account, but I've never seen this video in my life...

  • proberly your boy friend ??? or your other lover

  • you do know you sound really stupid calling people that were flooded dumbasses considering not all people that were flooded lived next to the river some lived at least ten blocks away if not more so if you are going to critize the people that were flooded you should probably get your story straight so you don't sound like a dumb ass considering i got flooded and i live more than ten blocks away from the river.

  • yeah u can only say tht cuz u dont live there and work there u should see our bridge 2 quaker oats it was like broken well i cant explain it but its reallly REALLY bad

  • I hate it when other states think of Iowa as fields of corn allover and no civilization. Cedar Rapids is my home and I am thankfull that my house wasn't destroyed.

  • same here yeah cr is kool have u seen the bridge 2 quaker oats?

  • are you talking about the 1st ave bridge?

  • idk wut bridge but the one thts connected 2 quaker oats

  • I think that you my be talking about highway 13 or something like that. The first ave bridge is the one that has the arches under it.

  • I live in a town next to Cedar Rapids called Marion. We are not getting flooding at all though. It is kind of scary though beause a nearby creek called Indian Creek flooded a little and ruined the Linn-Mar football field.

  • damn .. it's another New Orleans all over again !!!

  • i saw how they voted. not feelin their pain.

  • who?

  • All of you just need to STFU ! Its a fact of life, nobody brought this on, You Idiots it happens, haven't you ever heard the term, "Shit Happens" ? Well it happened here, its nobodies fault but mother nature, I am amazed at the Stupidity all of you are rendering by casting stones at one another its a Fucking Catastrophe not a man made occurence...Wake Up !

  • Wow, sad ppl here

    In regards to Katrina/New Orleans...

So, am I racist because I don't see color when I look at the problem? Or, are you racist because you do?

Seems to me there is a lot of tit sucking by the "poor" of all races.

Seems pretty clear to me, you don't get far in life until you are weaned off the tit.

    Keep suckin tit.

  • Hey, STS1SS, if you want to know who's really sucking the tax teat dry, look into corporate welfare and tax breaks given to companies who don't need them so that they can more easily move into your town and pay shit wages, pollute the Earth, and do their best to stamp out any and all competition. For instance: the WalMart "business plan" as they call it, deliberately depresses wages and benefits to employees in order to externalize costs to local, state, and federal entitlement programs.

  • Additionally, making this flood into a class issue rather than a race issue (or making it into any kind of "showcase" for creating a political argument of any kind), is STILL ASSHOLE BEHAVIOR.

What you "fiscal conservatives" never seem to learn is context and nuance. There's a time and place for policy arguments, and level 5 hurricanes, tornadoes, and 500-year flood levels are a great time for everybody to just help out rather than argue. In lieu of that, just SHUT UP.

  • Let me get this straight...are you saying a useless person must be excused because a corporation gets a tax break?

Look brainwave, the corporation produces jobs. And regardless, no corporation pays a dime in taxes. A Tax is no different than any other "cost of goods". It is simply passed on to the customer in the form of higher prices.

If you are ignorant and did not know that, fine. Now you do know that and I'd bet my next paycheck you will still promote raising taxes on corporations.

  • Finally dumbass; I was making a comment about OTHERS making that distinction. Are you really that stupid you don't get that? My post clearly states I do not see race/color/religion/nationality or any other discriminating trait when I see this or any other disaster.

Considering the LIBERALS in this country chose to use Katrina to make this argument, I see fit to slap those LIBERALS who did so down.

They are stupid and promote policy that keeps the poor down by convincing them they need others.

  • Keep making a fool of yourself, my friend.

  • As a reply to bis(or whatever the hell your name is)what I remember the gov't did try to help people by giving people credit cards with money on them at first. But when people are going and buying gucci purses and playstations, you can see why the gov't might be a little reluctant in giving people more money since they obviously weren't trying to buy food or start rebuilding shit, just looking for free money. I have no sympathy for anyone who was "dirt poor" and spent their money on damn purse!

  • All my thoughts and prayers are with all of my fellow Cedar Rapidians! We will make it through and be an even bigger and better city! God bless!

  • I live in Cedar Rapids and wish everyone would stop comparing us to Katrina. Luckily for us, it was nothing like Katrina. But keep in mind we had some time to prepare for this flood. We were able to call for help and have enough security in advance. Even with all the security some people's houses with the white flags still got looted. As far as katrina goes, they didn't have any warning for what was coming to them and we can't say they are all bad people cuz a few assholes looted.

  • Are you an idiot? New Orleans had DAYS to prepare for the hurricane. People Chose to stay and the dumb ass mayor couldn't even decide to wipe his ass or not! And tell me where the looting in CR is? CR people are not standing around waiting for the Feds to help..they help each other...and where is CNN, NBC, ABC, and all of their reporters now? Guess we are "too white" up here...no story of Bush ignoring minorities so I guess there is no news to blame Bush for!

  • If you wanna talk shit go ahead-but you need to talk it to someone else. I am from here lived here all my life and love it. We have so many wonderful families and yes we are blessed to have a community that will help eachother out whether or not the gov't helps us or not. I know 13 houses of relatives and friends that were destroyed from time check to F Ave and down by ST. Pat's. 4 of those houses had gotten broken in to and stuff stolen and those were just people I knew.

  • My whole point is no one is perfect. Everyone on here is either talking about how white we are or how black new orleans was. Who gives a shit? I don't give a damn about bush or the reporters. And you need to get your facts right, I never said we are sitting around waiting for people to help us. All I said was SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT KATRINA & ALL THE PEOPLE THERE! And instead of bitching about the reporters and bush, why don't you go volunteer somewhere? That's what I've doing how bout you?

  • Hey ASSHOLE...don't talk to me about volunteering! Been there and still DOING it! You are the one comparing CR to Katrina you stupid ass. Look at your own post...and I've had national red cross people tell me the damage in CR is worse than Katrina....and get YOUR facts straight.....New Orleans had plenty of warning! And I don't give a shit where you are from...try losing you business and house you self congratulating moron. You are probably one of the gawkers with your camera.

  • If you read back something about Katrina was replyed to me from another person. I was talking to them when you decided to jump in making your dumbass opinion. Whether we had more damage, or Katrina did-why does it matter? When I said get your facts right I was talking about you implying that I said we were waiting for the gov't to help us. And calling me a self congratulating moron really doesn't make sense. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get any pictures, I was too busy sandbagging:)

  • Like I said...self congratulating moron...and tell me again where I implied we were waiting for the Feds...I said just the opposite...but please tell me again how much you are helping so you can pat yourself on the back again. It was your comment about it not being as bad as Katrina that I was commenting on....and I think that is full of shit..you don't know your ass from a hole in the ground. Come to Czech village and tell me it wasn't as bad or we had so much time to call for help.

  • Hey, Dipshit, telling people "I told you so," after losing their homes is the hight of insensitivity. Grow up.

  • we arent hicks and we arent racist and you are being a little hypocritical if your going to be insulting us and then standing up for the people effected by katrina.. we hope the best for them and would do anything to help them. but at the moment we obviously cant because of our own disaster but before the floods came we did help them

the majority of us didnt act soo immature when new orleans was faced with a disatster

  • good thing i live in chicago

  • I do see da rapids

  • What caused the flood?

  • if anyone contributes this to global warming they are idiots, cause global wariming is propoganda no solid proof is out there, global warming is just something cooked by al gore and all those other douche bags to scare us into doing something they want

  • Hey New Orleans... Take note. No loitering. No chaos. Watch this city rebuild. Neighbors helping neighbors. Great Video! Cedar Rapids will be better than ever.

  • Did I say anything about "the Blacks"? Rich or poor doesn't matter. When neighbors come together to help each other instead of complaining, stealing and expecting someone else to save them, things get done.

  • Probably 80% of the people in these neighborhoods were making below $30,000 annual income. Time Check was a low-income, working class neighborhood. The people of Cedar Rapids are pulling through just fine without assholes like yourself who sit behind the anonymity of a keyboard. Come to Cedar Rapids and tell those who have lost everything what you have said here and above, you fucking coward.

  • i demand an apology bastard guy !

  • For what?? You being a total prick and acting like those who lost everything deserved it? I think the people of Cedar Rapids demand an apology from YOU!

  • i live in cedar rapids

and you may too but i think its pretty immature and rude to go back to a DISASTER that effected another city

and you shouldnt critize the actions (although not the best) that were made to help bring their city back to order

  • God's punishment on heterosexuals.

Breed, consume, houses, strip malls, roads...

No concern for the impact on the environment, then this happens and people say, "Well why'd that happen?

    Then they breed some more.

  • uh... okay? Because that makes sense. You just need to shut the fuck up and have some consideration for the people effected by this.

  • The Bill O'Reilly school of debate.

    Shut the fuck up.

Okay. So do let us know when we can talk about global climate change. How many US cities need to be destroyed before we can discuss this subject?

In the meantime, maybe you can go have more kids. Or go shopping. Or build another strip mall.

Shut the fuck up... because people in Iowa don't want to hear anythin but the Bible.

  • i think what the people of iown want to hear is you not talking

  • I never said don't talk about global climate change... I did say that your points don't make any sense. Also this is the wrong place and wrong time for any kind of debate like this. You are just being an insensitive prick using terror mongering to get across you agenda and nobody wants that shit on youtube. And as far is the bible is concerned, I'm an athiest.

  • i live in cr belive me this was bad

  • New Orleans definitely was handled very badly... very very badly. But all the gangs or people who were shooting at the rescue helicopters and emergency personnel didn't help matters. Those people only delayed the help from getting to the people who really needed it. Which was almost everyone caught in the flood.

  • Na, theyll definitely help Iowa out...mostly white. New Orleans,....well...nevermind.

  • Just so you know I'm from Cedar Rapids and it's more like 40% white 40% black 20% mexican

  • yeah right, that's not even close.

  • Yeah you're obviously not from here

  • yes i am, and obviously you are an idiot.

  • Redfarts you are an idiot...your name sums it up. Too bad IF Obama gets elected even more crap is going to happen to our country because he's a racist lying bastard who will indefinitely be assasinated. THANK GOD!

  • Dude, that shit about obama was sarcasm... but your right, I am an idiot. What's your excuse?

  • So, George Bush hates white people, too? Once obama is elected the government will stop manipulating the weather, just to make people the president hates suffer.

  • my sister goes to college at kirkwood in cr and she sent me some pictures from there and omg are they bad

  • oh man! I live there

  • Damn, 24,000 evacuated. Hopefully everybody got out in time. This is my hometown. CR having one of the worst winters in Iowan history and now having the worst flood in CR history. What's next? My prayers are with all of you.

  • i live like 20 min from there...wow

  • google H.A.A.R.P.

    this shouldnt be happening.

  • HAARP? check into it! it is called HAARP and it is awful. the gov has a new weapon and it can mess up with weather and cause floods or droughts. check it out!

  • It's horrible to see a city of that size so badly damaged. It reminds me of Katrina

  • You are retarded

  • see how you like it when it happens to you, jack ass

  • It is happening to me, and this is nothing like Katrina, don't be an idiot.

  • yeah its nothing like katrina really not at all. unlike katrina we arnt up here shooting eachother and looting everything like dip shits down there. instead we help eachother out. so you are right nothin like katrina :)

  • sadly you do have a point. Who can argue with you there. Facts are facts. But that is the midwest. People do help each other out. I was raised in IA for 20 yrs and have lived in the south for about 6 yrs of my life and all I've seen from the south is everyone trying to fend for themselves and rarely helping others. Other than Texas that is.

  • dont be a dickhead

  • Wow, Cedar Rapids is now- Cedar *Rapids* for real. Get some jet skis and kayaks, make the most of this tragic event and have some fun. "If life deals you lemons, make lemonade."

  • More like: If life levels your town, recover and rebuild, then have some lemonade.

  • I imagine thousands of people will leave and never return. Also, this is very bad for the downtown commercial district. I don't think anyone will invest in this area due to the possibility of future flooding. After it drys out it will probably remain as it is.

  • That's a good idea, but greed always wins. Someone will want to build a hotel and office down there and then get the government to pay for it when it floods again.

  • Plans for a significant downtown upgrade were on the drawing board. Not any more. This is a far worse situation than is initially perceived. It has far reaching social and economic ramifications, as you will see in the future.

  • you can't be serious.you forget how stupid humans are.we build on the edges of rivers and oceans.we build houses made of combustable material in areas known to have droughts that can last for years.we build houses on the sides of unstable mountains prone to mud and rock slides.and of course every time a disaster strikes theres always someone willing to move right in behind them.so don't worry about cedar rapids unless maybe a meteor strikes and just wipes everyone off the face of earth.

  • I'm an official with the state govt. We have been implementing plans to significantly upgrade the downtown area, utilizing diverse funding. Obviously, those plans are dashed. The future is quite uncertain. I'm speaking more on a financial level concerning this issue.

  • anhacus. I doubt you are who you say you are. I doubt you are even from Iowa. You don't know the people of Cedar Rapids. The downtown area WILL be back. The people of Cedar Rapids will survive this and be stronger, with or without the politicians.

  • I'm sorry to say that several major corporations are agonizing over the possibility of relocating out of the area due to the possibility of future flooding. The amount of money to restore infrastructure is immense, and without federal assistance it would be extremely difficult to compensate for this historic loss. This is not a reflection of the people of Cedar Rapids; it is purely a financial decision based on calculated risk factors.

  • I am trapped where I am in Ceder Rapids, near Kirkwood. Thankfully with power, water, and internet. They closed down I-380. I haven't herd much from Iowa City, hope its doing a little better. Downtown CR is under 10ft of water. Its supposed to get better next week tho, nothing but shine for 5 days.

  • we finally got our power back well im in burlington but my mom dad sister uncle and grandma are at my house and power came back this morning they say it is going back down im going to stay in burlington at my friends house until my moms friend comes back or when we get full use of our house again

  • A lot of power is still out on the southwest side. Damn thing near crept up 15th ave. all the way up to 9th street... Couldn't imagine this ever happening.

  • Yes, Cedar Rapids the skid mark of the world, needs to be cleansed for all of its terrible sins. Kidding of course I live CR and the water finally crest. I just hope they don't turn off the drinking water.

  • Oh no!

    This is my home town!

I can't believe that my entire childhood is going to be lost because of this stupid flood.

  • yeah.. seeing it in person is 20x worse

i was on 380 about 3hrs ago and seeing it in person my heart just drops.....

  • During a slow rising flood aren't you supposed to stand on your roof, demand to be airlifted by helicopter and blame the President?

  • only if you live in New Orleans, where the biggest chuck of FEMA money went to 5 years before Katrina hit, so that the levees and all that could be built up, yet the Governor of Louisiana and that idiot Mayor of New Orleans used the funds probably to fill their own pockets. Yet, the morons of New Orleans RE-ELECTED!!! that idiot. Then they have the GALL to blame Bush for Hurricane Katrina and the national government to fix EVERYTHING for them.

Unlike here in CR, we will do it without blame.

  • you dumb ass that is most fucked up thing i ever heard

  • You all need to stop making these horrible coments and start a fund raiser for the people who have lost everything like my friends and family. I live in CA and was just in CR on Wed. It was about to flood then and I have already raised a bit of money to help my fav local buinesses and a friend with no ins. stop hating and start helping. this will be more catostophic than Katrina and 93 combined. Do you realize that most of the crops in the midwest will be lost? Help! WE would help you.

  • man i just live right outa were the flood is its pretty close to my house but i hope those house boats dont break train bridge because if they do then all the bridges below and the dam blown shits goona be gone

  • well with this city being 91.5 percent white, you wont have the looting, stealing and begging of government visa issued fema cards, shootings, murder, cops stealing, and a flat out refusal to help rebuild your own.Nope you'll get back on your feet soon enough C.R all of America is praying for you guys.

  • You are such an ass!!! Keep your racist comments to your own idiot ass!!!

  • you are so racist at the beginning but hten say somthing probobly true at the end

  • i know everyone can agree when i say im NOT looking forward to the clean up.

i live in marion, but im still doing everything i can to help. cedar rapids is my second home basically.. i was born in st lukes too. and i know where all the businesses are and my heart breaks when i see them under the water while im watching the news.

stop making this a religious thing you guys.

it's not a good time to fight over it.

  • my house is flooded out..i live in cr

ne way i hate the fact that all u retards r making this religios cuz its not the time to blame..

    i dont believe in luck

but i do believe in chances, ther was a 1/500 chance of this flood happening and this just happened to b the .20 percent chance.. also i do beleive in god i just dont make him/her out to b the asshole u all do

  • on a positive note boat sales have increased 25%.

  • LMAO.....see we need more people to try and look at this flood like looking at a cup HALF FULL not HALF EMPTY

  • The Southern Baptist Coalition has announced that Cedar Rapids is being punished by God for harboring single mothers, liberals, homosexuals, human rights groups and atheists. They say that it is another punishment like 9-11 and Katrina.

Is this true? I have prayed about it but haven't gotten any answers yet.

  • You have GOT to be kidding me. If god wanted to punish anyone, he has much better means to do so. Please, pray that god helps you find the intelligence needed to actually use your brain.

  • Why are you mad at me? I'm just trying to learn from my faith. I am a college graduate and have used my brain many times. God bless you.

  • See this troll's profile. He is ANTI-GOD... trying to make Christians look bad. Shame!

  • it doesn't take much to make "christians" look bad rich2367.

let's start with falwell, then there's robertson, roberts, swaggard, haggart, parsely, hinn, bakker, and now new to first place that "christian" nut from san antonio, john hagee.

and that's only the money grupping, lying, hateful, ignorant, bastards you idiots give money to, and keep in power only so they can tell you your life is damned...so send them money.

    if that isn't ANTI-GOD i don't know what is.

  • See this troll's profile. He is ANTI-GOD... trying to make Christians look bad. Shame!

  • If your 'god' wanted to punish liberals, homosexuals, human rights groups, and atheists, he would have selected someplace less saturated with Christians. He would have selected someplace that is more full of the aforementioned groups. (Iowa city? Ames?)

  • is that why he leveled the world trade towers d112i10?

i don't get your meaning. do you really think god creates these disasters for the sole reason of punishing people for past sins?

the true answer is, he/she/it does not.

anyone who believes it is nothing but foolish, refuses to use his/her brain, and has never thought for themselves. rather they prefer to listen to their lying, bigoted, hateful, ignorant preachers (who btw, don't know shit).

  • hey its 01 we havent had 10 yet

  • ccubstan94, not sure what you mean by that!

  • sorry i thought you were trying to say 9 11 01 and i figured i am a dumbass after i posted the comment

  • thanks for the clarification ccubsfan. you're a good guy.

    hey how bout dem bears?

  • aaaaahhhhh not really a big football fan but yeah theyre fine

  • lol, that's a saying i remember george wendt say a number of times about his hometown football team, thought it was cool. personally i'm a sox fan...red that is.

    go celtics!

  • Whoa!!

I'm the 4,000th viewer of this video.

    Someone give me cookie :D

  • omg 2012

    this is a warning ☺

  • Wow- are you serious? Wha did you say to Katrina victims..."Oh well- don't live where hurricanes come"

  • We used to Live in CR. It is a vibrant downtown. What a shame! We hope it recovers. The Paramount, 5 seasons center and Smulekoff's!

  • This must have been recorded on the 11th..You can still see the bridges.

    Selunca

    Cedar Rapids, IA

  • damn....thats so horrible... prayers are out for all of you...

    AJ
