  • hi just thought id update you Summer has had her transplant which she received from another child so it was a whole liver. she is doing well and apart from geting the tac levels right she is now so full of life. hope all is well with layla bless you tina x

  • @tinaporter1 layla is great :) flourishing in school and we just had her 3 yr after transplant anniversary. im glad summer finally got her new liver, things will get better. myself and layla are participating in alot of researches into biliary atresia checking our dna and looking for a cause to help future sufferers. there are also alot of studys we are partaking in that are looking to help life after transplants and immune suppressants. your doctors will find a way to balance her levels soon

  • @tinaporter1 it just takes a long while to find out what medication dosages work best along with lots of other factors, layla and i kept to ourselves for about 2 years, living together and keeping her away from other children and possible germ factors, it really paid off, she started nursery school last feburary she has only gotten sick from school twice, and only one of those times was she hospitalized. her future is looking very bright and she is a very intelligent child, leader of the pack

  • thanks for sharing your pain, my grandaughter summer has biliary atresia splenic malformation syndrome like your daughter she had her kasai which hasnt worked properly so she has portal hypertension varices of the throat etc. thank you for explaining what is involved as we are waiting for a transplant for summer you have helped many by doing this, so pleased your daughter is doing so well now it gives us hope for summer bless you

  • @tinaporter1 layla suffered for months with the portal hypertension, i hope you have good luck with finding a donor, remember living donors are possible! all you need is the same blood type <3

  • i just saw this even though it's old...i'm very glad she got well and is doing well. she's got a great mom. layla's tough =]

  • we actually found out almost two weeks ago that my hubby's liver is failing and will eventually need a liver transplant... breaks my heart...

i just hope we can find a donor :/

  • @mstarr86 the living donor program is a wonderful thing...go threw your families, strangers, friends, you never know. all that is needed is the same blood type and 3 months of clean living prior to surgery day. drop me a line anytime about anything if you want <3

  • dont beat yourself up over that... bad things happen to good people too. its a success story, your a G. Mom!

  • thank you! and dont worry i know :)

  • As a 26 year old that had her transplant at the age of 17 months old, let me say your children appreciate you. For everything you do and all the stress you go through. I was born with biliary atresia I now have 3 happy healthy children of my own. I have lived a long and happy life and still have many great years ahead of me. Thank you for your strength in guiding your child through this time.

  • thank you so much for your comment that really means alot to me <3

  • I just wanted to say that you are soo soo brave for telling you story to the world, and not only brave but soooo strong! Your are totally right, children should not go through that and ofcourse it's worse when it's your kid. But yeah,it's AWESOME! that she's doing great and i wish you the very very best! :)

  • thank you so much for your kind words! i really appreciate the encouragement not so brave tho,,,i like to believe that any mother put in a situation like ours would do the best she could for her child. thank you for taking the time to watch, take care!
