to be fare the torque was always going to be higher on a supercharged engine, but it is the supercharger that holds the car back if you want more power as the standard one cant deal with much more than 270hp.
so when they rebuilt the inside they whent from a short stroke to a long stroke? why would they do that if its a low rev motor. it would make no power if they did that. that makes no sense. plus i dont think this is built just tranny upgrades thats all.
Hey nice car i got a few ?'s i got an 06 cobalt ss s/c and i want to get the hahn stage 5. what other parts and things would i need to get and do to make the kit work? Thanks
and for the price of the cobalt this 400 hp v8 car you speak of will handle like a bag of shit...not to mention the power to weight ratio is much better with a 4 cylinder, and if you used forced induction on a 4cylinder and a v8 you would have more hp per liter out of the 4 banger... you should educate yourself a bit more before you open your mouth FTWPro
You have to weld the alternator clutch, do a different pulley set-up, different belt, need to tap the oil pan, get a downpipe. You will need to get all that after buying the Hahn Level 5 kit. I am offering all of that with a full Level X turbo kit for $5500 SHIPPED in the US
Thanks for all the comments and compliments. Turbo kit is now for sale! $5500 Shipped for entire kit. This is for a Ecotec 2.0L LSJ. This started as being supercharged. This will be a full bolt on kit minus tuning which would be needed! Reply here if interested!
it's not a 2.0? just asking cause there wasn't a mention of the engine size, just that it was a full turbo build... making me think it probably didn't start off as an ss/tc
gm's ecotec motor is actually pretty special, the production block can handle 1000+ hp in drag trim. this car gets 30mpg and makes 260/260 an 09 civic si doesnt get 30mpg.
Give me torque and a longer stroke any day over that in my opinion. Domestic cars with a longer stroke take better advantage from a turbo kit compared to the short stroke of your Civic. That 8000 redline is where most of the Si's power comes from. But doesn't do much for it in the long run.
Again, the Civic is a great car but overrated in my opinion.
I love how you change your statement from "I'd beat that" to "If we were the same I'd win." Face it dude, your civic can't touch this on its best day. Hell, there's extremely few modest cars that can without massive tuning.
dude hondas arent the greatest thing in the world... hate to tell ya. When you get all done with your building your hon-duh and say you can beat it then bring it out and run it. until then stfu about your turbo si
All I read here is a typical Honda fanboy who's not willing to accept reality. Civic's are good, man, but when you come out of the door bashing other peoples' rides (one that's better than yours out of irony) you come off as an idiot.
You can't even hit 300hp in that thing yet and you're talking like it's the hottest thing on the road. At least you actually have a turbo and not just the typical coffee can on the back. Although somehow I get the feeling you still talked shit before the turbo.
You sir are an idiot considering my car made 440whp on pump gas with no timing in it. Much more to go. So your civic once again stands no chance! You would be staring at taillights pulling away... FAST
that's weaksauce. My old 1991 eagle talon took 20 psi all day long and never got tore down with 124K miles on it when I sold it. Any the newer 4g63 setups in the EVOS were factory 19 psi and lots of guys run them at 22-24 psi without issues.
Weaksauce? Holy shit dude I think you need to update your vocabulary a bit.
Your talking very different engines here, in very different cars. Also, cars that come factory turbo'd will have the engine set up to handle that load.... There are tq limits to parts in your engine, this is something people never seem to understand until pistons shoot out the hood.
i never said 2.2 or 2.4 as they have lower hp potential that the 2.0
displacement is not everything
also i have a 2.0l turbo saturn sky redline that at 28psi on a stock bottomend with custom cams and a little something somthing internal and its making 505rwhp (rwd =more parasitic loss so 200whp fwd is like 185whp rwd) so its got atleast 550chp and it still makes 430ft-lbs at 3800rpm and 505rwhp at 7650rpm and pulls to 10krpm but need a bigger turbo like a gt60 so it can breath
Are you really calling BillHahnJr a retard?????!!! thats rich. Who are you again? What tuning shop do you own? How many turbo kits have you made and sold?
Torque is low because it's too big of a turbo on the car. The turbo doesn't spool fast enough to make peak tq at it's optimum range. The trans has NOTIHNG to do with it, and most likely all tq management is turned off with tuning. Honestly, 440 whp 21psi on a gt35 is weak...sorry...There's going to be gt30's passing this car up with no problems especially because of the spool time
Actually your pretty far off. Torque is low not only because the turbo is very big, but also because we dropped compression to 8:1 in the custom build as well as a set of BIG cams. Those 2 reasons are the main ones of why the torque is so low. And 440WHP isnt even maxed out on pump gas. Nice try though.
Yes. Also. We still have a long way to go to max out on 21 psi. We had like 4 degrees of timing in that pull as well as still a pretty rich AFR. We will get plenty more hp/tq at 21 psi on pump gas. This tune isnt dead on yet!

This is for the 05-07 models as this is indeed a 06 cobalt ss. It was supercharged. Those arent the Brembo brakes. That is a SSBC Big Brake Kit.
