  • The man could play the fuck out of his guitar, and not a bad singer either. Tell your friends!

  • saw him live in New Zealand in 1980 in the Dunedin town hall in fact. Brilliant

  • then and now who could compare

  • love that he tunes with a harmonica.

  • @MasterGodfather97 Wasn't any chromatic tuners back then....sure he could tune by ear, but what a pro......used his harp to be sure!

  • Rory, a gift from above

That last solo, from 8.16 to the end: speechless!!!

  • thanks to bring me back to my 14 years old!!!

  • yeah i totally agree with mukoudakuniko, when translated the message says "thats the best 9 mins and 56 seconds ive ever had in my life"oooooshh

  • WTF 2 dislikes.???

    TOSSERS

  • an amazing and priceless record of life from the past

  • 凄いチューニングの合わせ方だな・・・。

  • @xXthescarykidXx he's talking about the magazine not the band, the stones actually tried to get rory to replace mick taylor

  • 6:22, fucking amazing.

  • He's the real wolverine

  • What a man, what an artist!!!

  • What's with the feet?

  • damn! back stage pass & everything! in his day he was unbelieveable. rory gallagher for ever!

  • true..honest..unabashed raw talent....the likes of you just do not get anymore...Rory truly was unique..his talent is his legacy...it will never extinguish as sadly he did.......what a legacy!

  • BIG

  • simply the best !

  • why only 150000 wievs?????

  • ellada latrevei rory...RIP rory...the best from the bests... !

  • The second part of that solo should be ranked within the best 15 solos ever in Guitar World Magazine. It is just magic like lets say Blackmores solo on Smoke on the Water live on Made in Japan. The solo is melodic and at the some time virtously played.

  • one of the greatest guitarist of all time

  • is that cocaine on his feet !

  • @dengie75 Yea, tht's right, dummy.

  • Simply superb.

  • Whats the song There PLayin' on 1:30 ?

  • @mudspud01 Sounds like "Daughter of the Everglades" (But I'm not sure)

  • @DieselChief yea sordof but a little faster...thanks

  • Rory is me prefered after Hendrix.

  • C'etait le plus grand. Tu nous manques Rory !!!!

  • that is the consumate performance of rock and roll music. five star, deluxe!!

if the martians landed and you had to explain what it is and how its done then this is what you'd show them. and they'd like it too.

  • 8:15 till the end: one of the single most incredible guitar solos ever!

  • rory 8ee....the god of the guitar...mas exeis relaneiiii....the BeSt EvEr

  • @Fongdoodle just continuing on from the last comment... i think what made rory gallagher a great musician was his genuine approach to music he has said on a few occasions he could have a clapton status but didnt want to be a mainstream artist..you only have to look at the clothes he wears to see how much of a regular lad he is..having said that tho , for me nobody beats him on an acoustic...out on the western plains at montreux is his best performance by miles

  • @electricladyland91 As to lyrics, Jimi expressed more in fewer words. Little Wing, Castles Made of Sand, Spanish Caslte Magic.

as stated, Lyricality is a noun. Also, I stated at the beginning they are not better or worse, just different.

Love Rory's sound which is why I put Irish Tours in my Strat.

  • @Watche777 how are you likin those pickups? I think im gonna get em non rw/rp with zinc plating on bridge. any suggestions?

  • @smatrick0802 I love them. The ones I got turn my mex strat into a fire breathing monster. It's just the mellowness as well as them being hot, you can hear the difference, the ceramic ones in the strat to start with, are too brittle at the top end, but the Tours are just smooth and warm. And the service from BKP is good, needed one replacing, as it was dodgy, and he sent me a T shirt, an extra set of strings and a case and car sticker to say sorry.

    Marvellous.

  • @Fongdoodle lyricality ?? jimi hendrix wasnt alot better than rory when it came to writing songs...some of rory gallaghers lyrics were alot better actually just check out "daughter of the everglades" hendrix was the more innovative musician but who says you have to be an innovative guitarist to be a great one ? what ever happene to just being a great player ? i dont think gallagher was better than hendrix myself but i think he was deffinitely close to the best

  • @Fongdoodle

is that a word, 'lyricality', sounds 'george bush 'ish' to me.

one thing for sure is jimi n rory, are consummate performers

  • The Guitar hero.

  • 05.14 through the magic of video, he switches to a telecaster with a capo and moves his hand at the wrong time for a few seconds before returning to the strat :P

  • 09:56 I love the dude wanting to touch Rory's hand & doesn't get a chance. Right after that he's dismayed and beating his fist on the stage like "OMG, ALMOST!" He questioned his sexuality hours later and committed suicide the next day... just kidding

  • Does anyone know what song rory's playing at 1:41 i've been trying to find out for years with no luck?

  • i have all of rorys albums and taste

  • I believe the lyrics are... "push for pennies", (as in sweep for pennies).

  • I really love Irish tour L.P CD. DVD.. but i also find the fucking piano (Rhodes???) for 35 years iritating , anoying and superfluous,,,, such a shame...

  • Hugh Jackman should definitely play Rory Gallagher in a biopic

  • @88milna i think john cusack would be better for the part...;)

  • thank you so much for this..Rory Rory Rory!! thank you man.Slan Abhaile Rory Gallagher:)) xx from Dublin...he looks so nervous before going on stage, such a sweet and remarkable man,,)

  • I appreciate the backstage rapport almost as much as the music itself! It lends a more human aspect to the presence of Rory and his band.

  • 4:13 ''ahh for fuck sake''

  • @eoghanctv An Irish temper.

  • @duncanstpt im irish lol

  • if god takes these guys like rory with him so early, then I don't need your god.

  • @pallisandreas FUCKIN AWESOME!!!! best youtube comment EVER!!!!!

  • @pallisandreas It is sad that he drank so much... But that's the way he dealed with all that stress he had behind stages....

  • @pallisandreas sometimes God takes the good ones....they're called angels...

  • SENSATIONAL

  • thanks for the video and the history loved him since heard on BBC live early 70's irish LP the greatest

  • Rory's best song, with his best band, at the height of his career, in his hometown... It just doesn't get better than this...

  • last year i listened to this guy's music for the first time... instantly fell in love with it.

I had just bought my guitar amp and took a cab home. The driver was listening to this song...

  • @Bullfrog416 oh shit^^

  • 2 lost people loving Celine Dion don't like this song.

  • 2 people have serious problems!!

  • Rolling Stone is a fag rag. Those wankers obviously never heard of Rory.

  • @gatorcarter

Hey! Talking bad 'bout the stones. Don't compare the two, both awesome.

  • scuse me...what is hanging down and bouncing when he played? i´m sorry i don´t understand the word.

  • Comment removed

  • @garfielddd21...... harmonica harness .

  • Screw the damn Rolling Stones magazine list... He's always been underestimated, but who cares... he still lives through his music and keeps rockin'

  • The good old days when you had to actually tune the axe! Amazing talent, a natural.

  • awesome is an under statement

  • Rory is The Best

  • GOD BLESS YOU RORY...I KNOW YOUR IN HEAVEN MY FRIEND..MAY GOD KEEP YOU CLOSE TO HIS SIDE...

  • he is the tasbar

  • Quelle merveille !!!

  • Top five Rock guitarists of all time.....Rory, Jimi, J. Winter, L. West, D. Allman

  • The one scene going from dressing room to the stage reminded me of the scene in Spinal tap! LOL

Great version of this song...R.I.P. Rory!!

  • argh i fuckin hate this dvd the music's amazing and i just wanna watch him play! its all compilation-y!

  • If a Rory Gallagher movie is ever made...no joke, Hugh Jackman would be a good look-a-like.

  • He was such a nice person ! I'm sorry he's dead , but to me his music lives along ! I cry allot by lissening Irish tour 1972 ( cd ) but when I see the footage on youtube I'm

in tears, always....I think of him as a friend ...He really was a nice man, I know, and Gerry Mc Avoy too...I love Rory always !!! Greetings from Antwerp 55 years old .

  • Wicked!!!!!!

  • His playing was unforgettable, of course, but I feel he's underrated as a songwriter as well.

  • I saw him four times and he always gave his best.

The word legend is over used these days and there aren't many people who I could apply it to, but Rory gallagher was the first person that sprung to mind.

    Pure originality.

  • to all in the limelight of modern music' side burns and flannel shirt is all you need you wanna-be loosers... oh and some fuckin talent too!

  • Rory Gallagher is the greatest ever! That includes Hendrix, Clapton, and every other guitarist that ever credited Rory for his influence in the way they played. Wanna see some great slide work that blows Allman out of the water? Check out any "Brute Force and Ignorance" video. Wanna see some Delta Blues played a dobro? Check out "Too Much Alcohol" the unplugged version. You name it, the guy could play it.

This world is a lesser place without Rory Gallagher.

  • Gallagher is just top notch. I've watched him steal the show twice. First with Bucannon, and them with Tull .

Good version of tattoed. Could be the actual live cut placed on the Live '74 double album (Which is primo_.

  • Unreal Guitarist of his time , Still not been equalled in blues rock to this day !! Proof ? Buy Irish tour 74 or Live in Europe ! ...Amen

  • I recently began listening to his music, he's incredible. Does anybody knows which song is the one he is playing at 1:23?

  • @pepemer is it Bullfrog Blues?

  • Seen him in 1978 in Vancouver, great show ! He turned down an offer to replace Brian Jones, he told them he was too busy !!!!

  • Jesus, look at how young they were.

Gerry McAvoy looks like a teen.

  • 4 years before i was in studio with my old band for rehearsals. In a break we went out to smoke and there were some old dudes watching this in the TV. I d never seen or listen to Rory before. I was watching this and i couldnt even breath. All this power, passion from all the guys but especially Rory filled with sweat and singing with so much power... Holy Crap.. God bless those guys.. God bless RORY..

  • hes playing a strat, but at 5:15 you can clearly see him with a telecaster with a capo on the 2nd fret!

Why do they edit these videos?

  • U don't fuk wit rory

  • he's one of our own!! it'l do for another while, keep me going!!

  • but the 1st guitarrist off all time is paco de lucia listen entre dos aguas

  • Love his face at 6.41!!! Makes me laugh every time!!

    God Bless

  • Best version of Tatoo'd Lady IMO. I'm amazed how this man, nearly 15 years after he passed away, still keeps inspiring and amusing me. Rory, keep on rockin' those pearly gates!

  • I'm 15 years old,

Just can't stop listening to it.

    KEEP IT ALIVE

  • Happy Birthday Rory !

  • Absolute legend. Never forgotten ..and bless me for tidying your grave when i was there Rory !!

  • @Macedoniangreek:

one last thing about his guitar, he also replaced one of his clay 12th fret dot markers with a white plastic one. otherwise great info, Rory rocks

  • I was into the bowie/dolls/television etc and later all the punk sounds of 76/77 when i was a young one but Rory was always on the turntable at some time or other despite that. He really was a talent that transcended all genres of music.

  • damn whats the song hes playing at 1:25? someone tell me please

  • @bawrais112 its called dancin on the ceilin by lionel ritchie

  • Whenever I watch Rory I swear his soul comes out to play.

    God bless Rory.

  • One of the greatest guitarist ever, and a talent, that went largely undiscovered here in the usa. Cept, for me, I listened to rory in the 70's, along with roy buchannan, from the usa, they both rocked, and both remind me of each other, in alot of ways, although, they were totally different

  • intense jamming

  • anyone know wot he's playin around 1.25?

  • @1234ruaidhri4321 that is pokerface by lady gaga

  • Greatest guitarist that ever lived!!

Love this version of tattoo'd lady!!

  • soo great! of course the song, but also the whole video feeling before the song is transporting me to magic!

And if anyone knows more some the jam in 1:24 would be fantastic!

  • I am totally bumping this. I was thinking the EXACT same thing.

    R.I.P. Rory.

  • takes me back to 1975

  • THIS is TALENT!! One of the BEST!! God Bless Rory!!

  • @Schon2112 GRANDE!! the BEST!!

  • nothing touches that solo for beautifully crafted flowing tone!.....ive played it a few hundred times and you never get tired of it. People into rory knew that he had something unique,,,you've only got to look at the tributes on youtube to know that

  • Rory does a really nice job on his solo phrasing on this version. He's smiling and he is into it. Love his slide playing, simple with old style traditional blues feeling and to the point. Great guitarist and left the world as we know it way too early.

  • Rory kai ta mualla sto blender

  • Rory and Jeff Beck!!!

  • @Schon2112 Rory and Page!!!

  • Rory eisai a8anatos re file!

    Ti na leme....

  • ta video sou ta spane polu apla.

den yparxei kan 2os meta ton Rory

  • i wish i could see him live, but i was just alittle baby when he died! :*(

  • The coolest musician of all time

  • Rolling Stone Magazine`s lists of best players, albums etc. is always a bunch of crap. They have no idea about nothing. Better to check out guitar player magazine or even better to have an opion on one`s own. Rory is legend like Ritchie Blackmore is legend. Not much legends at all.

  • rory is the 5 best guitarrist of all times ,, fuck list the rolling stones magazine,,

  • fuck all rankings - Rory was, is and will always remain everything that guitar playing means to me.

  • that list if a fucking shit bro, 4 noobs.

    Kirck hammet 11??wtf!!!

    fuck rolling stones magazine.

  • @crimasan Exact

  • @crimasan .... he's always forgotten about..its really unfair... Hendrix himself was asked before " So how does it feel being the greatest guitar player in the world? " ......... and Hendrix replied.. " Ask Rory Gallagher.." ..LEGEND!! ......he's from jus up the road from me :D

  • @crimasan agreed

  • @crimasan exactly....HENDRIX BLACKMORE GALLAGHER GILMOUR VAN HALEN...this are to me...but it changes everyday..jejejjej

  • @crimasan

Who gives a fuck what rolling stone says......let your ears be the judge,

  • what a great post!!!

    wraios re maga 5*

  • Rory was WAY ahead of his time.. What a great guitar player

  • Anyone out there remember the inside of the Ulster Hall in 74?It looks like the windows are boarded up..Very different from the "restored" hall picture on the internet..

  • What a GREAT post !!!! bless you. I saw him for the 1st and only time in 1979 at a smalll club in Cleveland , Ohio...My jaw dropped open and has stayed there since .....RIP Guitar Man

  • @rockncleve I also saw him in 79 at the Agora, also in 74 (I remember this because my wife was pregnant both times), he was loud and great!

  • guys please if u know ...what is the song in 1:28 ?

  • Man, what a musician. RIP, Rory. I owe a lot of how I play now to what I heard you do then.

  • ow this is nice, thanks big time for posting! :D

  • it's rory's bassplayer... if you don't know anything 'bout the guy, then shut up!

  • Irish tour 74 is his best live LP in my opinion

  • I had an 8track pistol slapping blues?74? could have had , my home, best sound track ever messen with the kid 250 watts old school

  • the best was when he talked about his guitar... "it will do it for another while i guess, keep me going" and then he played it till his end...

    that was great.

  • tatoo'd lady,bearded baby,their my family...........absolutely brilliant..........wish i had the chance of seen the man playin live

  • I was lucky to see him twice one of the best concerts Ive seen and Ive been to 100s Rory is my favorite R&B guitarists and 1 of the best he rocked but taken from us to soon but his music lives on

  • What an amazing artist.

  • The greatest of them all........

This is catching the real Rory , his spirit!

Great film by Tony Palmer, highly appreciated! Got the DVD :-)

  • This is a Treasure;Thank You! This clip showed me alot of things in just a few minutes; Rory looks really nervous just as he's leaving the dressing room, but then you see the band really enjoying the moment and communicating with each other the whole time. Brilliant!
