true..honest..unabashed raw talent....the likes of you just do not get anymore...Rory truly was unique..his talent is his legacy...it will never extinguish as sadly he did.......what a legacy!
The second part of that solo should be ranked within the best 15 solos ever in Guitar World Magazine. It is just magic like lets say Blackmores solo on Smoke on the Water live on Made in Japan. The solo is melodic and at the some time virtously played.
@Fongdoodle just continuing on from the last comment... i think what made rory gallagher a great musician was his genuine approach to music he has said on a few occasions he could have a clapton status but didnt want to be a mainstream artist..you only have to look at the clothes he wears to see how much of a regular lad he is..having said that tho , for me nobody beats him on an acoustic...out on the western plains at montreux is his best performance by miles
@smatrick0802 I love them. The ones I got turn my mex strat into a fire breathing monster. It's just the mellowness as well as them being hot, you can hear the difference, the ceramic ones in the strat to start with, are too brittle at the top end, but the Tours are just smooth and warm. And the service from BKP is good, needed one replacing, as it was dodgy, and he sent me a T shirt, an extra set of strings and a case and car sticker to say sorry.
@Fongdoodle lyricality ?? jimi hendrix wasnt alot better than rory when it came to writing songs...some of rory gallaghers lyrics were alot better actually just check out "daughter of the everglades" hendrix was the more innovative musician but who says you have to be an innovative guitarist to be a great one ? what ever happene to just being a great player ? i dont think gallagher was better than hendrix myself but i think he was deffinitely close to the best
05.14 through the magic of video, he switches to a telecaster with a capo and moves his hand at the wrong time for a few seconds before returning to the strat :P
09:56 I love the dude wanting to touch Rory's hand & doesn't get a chance. Right after that he's dismayed and beating his fist on the stage like "OMG, ALMOST!" He questioned his sexuality hours later and committed suicide the next day... just kidding
I really love Irish tour L.P CD. DVD.. but i also find the fucking piano (Rhodes???) for 35 years iritating , anoying and superfluous,,,, such a shame...

Then fuck'em all! We love Rory and underrated musicians like him. He was definitevly not granted the talent he deserved. This guy should have been a star from day 1

Rory Gallagher is the greatest ever! That includes Hendrix, Clapton, and every other guitarist that ever credited Rory for his influence in the way they played. Wanna see some great slide work that blows Allman out of the water? Check out any "Brute Force and Ignorance" video. Wanna see some Delta Blues played a dobro? Check out "Too Much Alcohol" the unplugged version. You name it, the guy could play it.
This world is a lesser place without Rory Gallagher.
4 years before i was in studio with my old band for rehearsals. In a break we went out to smoke and there were some old dudes watching this in the TV. I d never seen or listen to Rory before. I was watching this and i couldnt even breath. All this power, passion from all the guys but especially Rory filled with sweat and singing with so much power... Holy Crap.. God bless those guys.. God bless RORY..
Best version of Tatoo'd Lady IMO. I'm amazed how this man, nearly 15 years after he passed away, still keeps inspiring and amusing me. Rory, keep on rockin' those pearly gates!
I was into the bowie/dolls/television etc and later all the punk sounds of 76/77 when i was a young one but Rory was always on the turntable at some time or other despite that. He really was a talent that transcended all genres of music.
One of the greatest guitarist ever, and a talent, that went largely undiscovered here in the usa. Cept, for me, I listened to rory in the 70's, along with roy buchannan, from the usa, they both rocked, and both remind me of each other, in alot of ways, although, they were totally different

Rory does a really nice job on his solo phrasing on this version. He's smiling and he is into it. Love his slide playing, simple with old style traditional blues feeling and to the point. Great guitarist and left the world as we know it way too early.

This is a Treasure;Thank You! This clip showed me alot of things in just a few minutes; Rory looks really nervous just as he's leaving the dressing room, but then you see the band really enjoying the moment and communicating with each other the whole time. Brilliant!
The man could play the fuck out of his guitar, and not a bad singer either. Tell your friends!

@electricladyland91 As to lyrics, Jimi expressed more in fewer words. Little Wing, Castles Made of Sand, Spanish Caslte Magic.
as stated, Lyricality is a noun. Also, I stated at the beginning they are not better or worse, just different.
Love Rory's sound which is why I put Irish Tours in my Strat.

the best was when he talked about his guitar... "it will do it for another while i guess, keep me going" and then he played it till his end...
that was great.

This is a Treasure;Thank You! This clip showed me alot of things in just a few minutes; Rory looks really nervous just as he's leaving the dressing room, but then you see the band really enjoying the moment and communicating with each other the whole time. Brilliant!
