At the end of the lesson you talk of a song about a young woman going to a tree for advice. A similar song about questioning trees is used in Russian film Ирония судьбы или С легким паром (The Irony of Fate). I do not recall the exact title of the song and it is towards the end of this popular Christmastime film. Thank you for the lesson.
hello, is there a reason that he, she, and we are all used with the neuter form? I would think it would be он был, она была они были, мы были. etc.. do you know why it does not follow that line? Thanks for your great instruction!
Because the he and she are not the subject, they become the indirect object and the subject becomes "impersonal". hence the term impersonal constructions. The neuter is always used in these cases because the subject, and not the indirect object determines the gender and number of the verb.
Your lessons are interesting. Your jokes are funny. Your songs are beautiful. Thank you for providing these wonderful lesson. My wife and I are actually learning Russian.
Thanks to the great videos. I am a self learner and I have watched through the previous of them. However, up till now I have difficulty in distinguishing the pronunciation of
(-ый, -ий) (-ие, -ые)
(-ая, -яя) (-а, -ай)
(-е, ей).
Could anyone be kind to give me some hint on that? Many thanks.
красивый, to me, sounds like a lazier version of красивий (not a real word). -ий, usually, sounds like a very definite ee sound, -ый sounds far more lazy.
Oops! Just saw that this was 8 months ago, and I'm sure your question's been answered, but there you go anyways..
Thank for your kindness to give the knowledge to learn russia languge how to say how to pratice .Thanks again for the great Russia Beyond the world to day .I sure myself and my family to learn to speak from you
Hopefully if you keep watching my series, it will help, but don't expect to get a whole lot better just from the first watch, or without using other materials also.
I know a lot of people already said, but I want say it again: your lessons are beeing extremely useful. I'm from Brazil and I have two friends located in Europe, one living in Odessa (Ukraine) and another in Yekaterinburg (Russia). Both are my "teachers" to teach me this beautiful language as is and your videos are helping me to do it faster. :-)
I said it wrong, the double negative doesn't belong in that construction, so I left the ne out of the writing. You are doing very well, by the way. "Yeshcho chashche" or, at a pinch "yeshcho bolee chasto", and don't forget the soft sign at the end of "ochen'". Also I wouldn't translate the idiom "one thing" literally (into most languages it's not an exact fit) try "odin vopros, odno delo, or just "odno". Hth.
Спасибо за этот урок, мне очень понравился. Пожалуйста делаете эти еще часто, мы будем очен благодарны. Одна вещь, "Им некогда не было искать" или "Им некогда было искать".
It was great, mate. It certainly is time. I haven't done it yet. I'll have to make it snappy. I was going to do it on the Polish elections, but they've gone now.

I must know why you tap the back of your neck when you make an alchahol reference!!!!

@BentTemple The side of the neck. It is Russian sign language for someone who is 'vypivshii' or "in a state of having drunk out".

How do I slow down the song so that I can hear it properly??
blueclue57 4 years ago
You could keepvid it, then use the riva encoder to make an mp3, which you could then slow down using audacity.
usenetposts 4 years ago
Did you just do that to be funny or something? Well, the affect was a bit commical, at least to me.
