I could stomach the ending change. the one thing that got to me the most was how they changed how Rorschach disposed of the kidnapper. It made me think that Snyder didn't want to look like he was ripping off Saw. When infact Watchmen predated Saw by almost 20 years.
Btw I read the series in 2 days before i saw the movie and that made the experience 10 times better, but at this late date I guess nobody would be up to doing that.
i went and saw ut yesterday and it made no damn sense it was so confusing and stuff, but it might be cause im only 13 and idk someine please explain it to me cause i thought it would just be like where the watchmen group get back together and they have a normal enemy, but no they have to make it confusing by making a good guy a bad guy all of a sussen so please someine help me.
Panel by panel accuracy was to me a deficiency within the film, now, accuracy gained through the portrayal of the same identical event from a different "angle" I would prefer, however, the graphic novel fans have longingly anticipated the film due such a technique put into effect within the previews, and of course I have not in hand any type of statistic proving whether the common viewer was a reader of the comic,so the previous statement is more than likely false,FILM= 5/5.(purpleturbanz is cute
Now that I have seen the film, I return to share my opinion!
This movie was B-E-Autiful! Being a digital artist, I just about had an artgasm. The film really developed character depth and gave great summaries for the folks who haven't read the graphic novel.
The length got to me a little, an intermission would have been nice. Like with LOTRings.
I never heard about the watchmen comics but the movie is really good, only that i never thougth who Rorschach end. The music very good too... Don´t see the movie with your parents
Also with the ending, while I am a fan of the alien, the Dr. Manhattan explosions made sense. what I DID not like is that they made the moral question of Ozy's ethics into black and white, Owl enforcing the feelings of the audience with the whole "twisted humanity" bit.
Also, the conversation between DM and Ozy's was axed, perhaps the most important dialog in all 12 issues is gone, again dumbing down the ending for mass audiences.
I feel bad for Alan Moore, all this stuff happening against him
I agree with the finer points of the ending that you bring up. I was disappointed that they got rid of DM and Ozy's conversation, was confused why they had Nite Owl witness Rorschach's death, etc. They did dumb it down a bit.. but they also got rid of a lot of character/background information.
Ultimately, the small changes were the things that bothered me. But overall, I thought they did well.
hi, like the movie a lot. nice scenes and music. I caught up with everything except the ending. What happens. ozy and n.o. and Rorschach are talking. ozy discribes some plan. What really happens? Thanks and i like your review.
I'm one of those people that weren't happy, they weren't mehhh...
I hated the movie. I thought it took the intellectual points of watchmen and dumbed it down to pseudo-intellectualism. While I agree with the panel by panel point, and I think liking the OST is subjective, I have to disagree with the costumes, especially Ozzymandias: his costume made him look like the blatant badguy and removed his utilitarian ethics that were in the comic.
I do agree with you; there was a lot of "dumbing down" in order to reach wider audiences. But if they included everything (all of the character and background info and more), it would have been a 5 or 6 hour movie and would never have been shown. I suppose that's why many people were so outraged when they announced they were adapting the novel into a movie.
Essentially yes, sometimes things can't be translated to another medium. I'll admit it may of just been me, my friends thought it was an alright transition -- I happen to of just detested it.
I can't stop wondering whether or not it's possible for Dr. Manhattan to get blue balls.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the squid monster looks like a vagina. I imagine that's what Courtney Love's vagina looks like nowadays.

I really loved the adaptation. I'm glad they kept it true to the comic, what's u with the reviewers hating on that.
