You know, I'm surprised we've actually started doing this again. The American military's current BDU (Digital Camouflage) actually produces an "optical illusion", but only for a second.

The "digital camo" is actually most effective for video driven surveillance systems and enhanced night vision scopes. The pixleated images of troops become even more blurry when viewed on a 640x480 screen, making their outlines more difficult to see. That is where it's designed to excel, not as much for the "optical illusion" effect in real time

@Airsoftsniperkid i think you mean ACU which is made up of small squares or the latest multi-cam used by the british SAS which can be used in desert or woodland.American BDU's are one colour usualy green or black

heheh - I played in a crazy gypsy marching band for a while, and our tour bus was painted in purple, black, and white dazzle camo...gotta say people definitely seemed confused when they saw us coming their way!

It's amazing...

The HMS Belfast moored up by Tower Bridge used to be in regular colours then when she had a repaint they used "dazzle" as she would've been during WW2... it's amazing to see close up
