You'd need the right computer to even play this... and the 'right' computer (with accessories such as an advanced graphics card) would easily cost thousands of dollars. If id software took part in some of that money, they would easily make triple what they do to sell their games. IT'S NOT WORTH IT.
Not really... I put together a i7 2600k with 16gb (1600) ram, MSI P67 GD55 Motherboard and 1TB HDD for around $770 with tax. I used my previous HTPC case, power supply and my Dual GTX 460 cards (in SLI) - but still... if you upgrade what you have, you don't need to spend thousands. Even if I didn't have the previous peripherals, I could have done this for about $1200, LOL.

Actually Obsidian made the latest Fallout game, (New Vegas), it was recently announced that Bethesda is working on another game tho, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, all we have is a trailer and a release date 11-11-11, so 11th November 2011 will be booked as holiday for me :) and the 12th, 13th.... and possibly the 20th. Also TES V will use a new in-house engine... now ID is technically in-house, so maybe Tech 5!
@oldnotweak I am unaware of Bethesda having commented specifically about what TES V uses, only that it will use a new in-house developed engine. Hopefully the graphics will be amazing and they can finally move away from Havok so we can get to see some lovely PhysX in action.

Not 'everything' has its limits. But I can see the point you are making. What I was saying is that we can now see Unreal Engine 3's limits when it comes to graphics, compared to Id Tech 6 Engine.
But UE3's being constantly updated. As will ID tech 5.
UE3's got a lot of life left in it. It has some really bad looking ways of achieving some effects though (it's ambient occlusion looks like crap, as does it's screen space motion blur) but that's up to the game devs to tweak and build until it looks damn good.
Hell, even the SOURCE engine has a few surprises in it. Ellis in l4d 2 has some of the msot realistic hand models I've EVER seen in a game.

@DrRejectz Well atm I'm thinking Savertooth P67 LGA 1155 Mobo for all its OC goodness and the Core i5 250K (k is very important) you can over-clock that thing to buggery and its still stable.
I've read a lot of 4.5ghz stable OCs even 5ghz.
But all this is subject to change over the next few months with the release of AMDs new range.
Building a PC is a very personal use sort of thing different users will have different needs, so one system might not be the best for another's usage requirements.
Ahh, sorry I didn't actually see the first message, i5 2500k>4.5 Ghz? That sounds real beastly. Personally I would wait until AMD releases there new chips before making any final choice of your CPU. And yeah different users have different needs. But most gamers want a good pc to last them a few years even as new hardware releases. You should also consider a solid state drive.

Also if you graph out price compared to performance on all parts out atm there is a sweet spot just before it rises crazily with little performance increase and your only getting 5% performance for twice the price.
A good example is the gtx560 and 570 its really not worth doubling the price to get 10% more performance especially when the 560 after-market cards outperform the base 570 easily.
@DrRejectz Also so far it has worked out cheaper for me to use this method and my PCs are up to scratch to most of these "gaming" PCs that cost twice even three times the price of what I spend.
Sure mine may not last as long but its only counted in months which doesn't justify and extra few thousand I see people spending.

ID Hasn't made an original game in about 10 years... they've just ported their older games to their new engine, and slapped the 'Sequel' title on it. Rage will let us know if they've still got it...
Both. Open world RPG elements with fps mechanics, side jobs, activities, racing, plundering and exploring, and an amazing engine with astonishing capabilities to back it up. It will be ground-breaking as well as addictive.
kinda makes me think of Fallout 3 in a way.. :-/ At any rate I'm excited!! New tech from ID always raises the bar and pushes realtime CG forward. Good stuff :)
the new id engine is about being able to change or make anything more complicated without a frame-rate difference, I don't think anybody know much about the bugs-- but i'm thinking less since id has very few errors in any games doom,quake,doom3 engines.

Isn't this basically Doom 4? The soldiers look very similar to those in Doom 3 and thise goblin thingys look a bit Quakey so Im guessing this is gonna be a Doom/Quake based game.
Driving dune buggys and fighting off theives and mutants in a post apocalptic world is the same as space marines fighting off demons in a space installation on mars? Rage is it's own game and is not in any way shape or form connected to Doom or Quake. Maybe the artsyle is similar in some ways but that's about it. Not to mention that Rage is powered by a completely new engine.

ATI HD4850 Saphire
4gig ram
And windows 7
And I can run Crysis at 1920x1200 with the settings maxed and get a steady 35fps.
All it comes down to is how good the user is at optimizing a computer.. If you say otherwise you know nothing about computers.

ID Hasn't made an original game in about 10 years... they've just ported their older games to their new engine, and slapped the 'Sequel' title on it. Rage will let us know if they've still got it...

the new id engine is about being able to change or make anything more complicated without a frame-rate difference, I don't think anybody know much about the bugs-- but i'm thinking less since id has very few errors in any games doom,quake,doom3 engines.

When Id revealed RAGE they said this game will run at 60 frames per second across all platforms PC , Xbox 360 , PS3 , Mac.
I hope that's still going to be the case.

Driving dune buggys and fighting off theives and mutants in a post apocalptic world is the same as space marines fighting off demons in a space installation on mars? Rage is it's own game and is not in any way shape or form connected to Doom or Quake. Maybe the artsyle is similar in some ways but that's about it. Not to mention that Rage is powered by a completely new engine.
