Luol Deng Cuts to the Hoop and Dunks

To be a clutch/money player in the NBA you need to be able to do 2 things late in the 4th quarter.

1) Post up and produce points.

or

2) Bust people's asses off the dribble so you can create your own shot.

I like Luol Deng but he really can't do either of these things. He's more of a slasher n transition jumpshooter/finisher.

He can't really finish at the rim great in traffic n he's not a good 3 pt shooter (career is 28% from 3)

A good guy but he's really overpaid!

Well there is alot of kinds of players that make the NBA. I would say:

Skill

Athleticism

Height (doesn't hurt)

(Most 1st rounders have 2 of the 3.)

And for some guys (mostly 2nd round guys) luck n persistance.

Some guys try out for a team n don't get past that teams preseason camp simply cause they were a bad match for that team. Right place right time kind of thing.

As for persistance just look at Chris Anderson. How many guys would have just given up in his situation?
