  • @ManRuin no, lars was run over by a car ;), they won't harm any of our cats, we still have all of our 3 cats we also had in 2008 and in the meantime we got another shiba :). the only thing is that they kinda killed one of our chickens, but not even from their bite, the chicken was so scared that it died from being in a shock xD. these dogs were bread to hunt poultry and bears

  • @ManRuin shiba inus are very similar to cats. its the best breed to hold together with cats.

  • @ManRuin - Shiba inus were bred to hunt small game, deer, boar, and even bears. So being bred to hunt (they're classified non-working group now) they do have a strong prey drive. But shibas are also very catlike, so that's something to take into consideration. Generally though, whether a dog get's along with cats is usually more of a dog to dog sort of thing (or even cat to cat).

  • Stupid cats!!!

  • AWwww sorry to hear about your cat. and This makes me really want to get a shiba! they are so cute! Thus why when I get one if I do, Im gonna name it Fox McCloud , or Robin Hood lol

  • They are LIGHTNING fast, and very catlike

  • LOL The Shiba is the same size as the cat SO CUTE :D

  • BITCH SLAP!!!

  • BAH! he looks just like my shiba!! her name is Tails from sonic the hedgehog

  • @JacXrad OMG, that's such a good name for a shiba xD suitable as in speed and in the tail :D

  • I am looking for a play mate for my border collie. Can some Shiba Inu owners tell me about their energy levels? Are they energetic enough to go hiking and still have it in them to play or are they generally just good for a couple walks around the block?

  • @Ebonyfox2

Both actually, if you will take them for a walk around the blok, they will be satisfied, but they will happily go hiking with you 2, especially when it's cold because they have a double layerd coat. And their energy levels can vary alot. We have 2 shiba's now and 1 of them is the calmest dog i've ever seen, and the other is very active. They love playing together, they can go on for hours But in general shiba's will adapt to your habits. :) I hope this helped

  • @Ebonyfox2 -They are athletically up to snuff with anything you would do with your border collie. They are just as intelligent (maybe more depending on how you rate them) as a BC. The BIG difference is that shibas are far more independent. While BCs are generally easy to train, shibas are much harder. You have to mean what you say with them. A BC and a shiba to me would be a good mix, particularly if the BC was trained prior to getting the shiba. The shiba might be easier to train than normal.

  • The dog was asking for it lol. Also the cat was in self defense, pwnt.

  • Everything about shibas are so great, except for the fact their butt holes stand out like a sore thumb.

  • black hole

  • reactions of a cat that dog!! :)

  • Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenjaa!!!

  • Aw, poor guy just wanted to play. My cat can't handle my shiba, either.

  • Hey I have one of them dogs xD i called it Ollie.. But shortly im getting like an akita (Practically the bigger version of this dog) And im searching for names xD Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • @47kieran

well, the name of my dog was based on his origin, so we picked a japanese name for him (Shiro). if you search 'japanese names and meaning' in google, you will get lists with lot's of names and the meaning of them :), that's how i found my dog's name. hope this was helpfull

  • You know shiro means white in japanese :P

It should be the cats name xD

  • @CoranDragon ohh, i didn't know that, when i looked his name up, the meaning of 'shiro' was 'second son', but it could also be white i guess :) and i named my cat 'Lars' because of a cartoon of a polar bear :)

  • @ynkebour My Grandfather's name is Lars :D

  • @ynkebour lol, the Fusco family? Or W/e its called?

  • PWNED!

  • shiro looks a spitting image of nino my shiba.same sort of tempermant aswell.shiro's almost testing the water very playfull and curious yet aint aware that the cat has sharper claws lol sometimes shibas can be so silly

  • my cat and dog have the same relationship hehe

  • the cat was like : WTF ...

  • he was like Bitch please! *smack*

  • cat: "I do NOT play..."

  • Why don't cats like to have fun?

  • world class boxer there

  • that cat is damn huge

  • Both your pets are such happy creatures. They're cute.

  • look at the kitty's arched back and frizzed tail! all the shiba wants is to play! :D

  • I have two shibas and I love how they do that weird tail "wag" (more like an off-beat flip flop, hehe) when they get excited! Very cute vid! Sorry to hear about your kitty.

  • Shiba rolled with the punch, almost as good as dodging.

  • Actually, I think Shiba is a breed with few features from cats.

  • True.

  • Shiba's are in the same family as the spitz, so they're more closely related to cats than most dogs.

  • Ummm, actually more closely related to wolves than cats...they are just often described as "cat-like".

I've got a main coone, russian blue and a ginger shiba...they have some similarities in independence and cleanliness but that's where it ends.

  • True, I just meant they're more like cats than other dogs are, I just worded it weirdly, sorry.

  • @NinjaBw0y i would have to agree my shiba is realy close to a cat its crazy. they dont like getting wet, they always groom themselves, i saw my dog pee in sand once and then cover it up! i swear they should be cats lol

  • Bitchslap !!!11!!

  • boom headshot

  • Oh, poor kitty. Sorry to hear that he died. D: But I bet he had a good life with you. :)

  • *smack*

  • that was good. he must knows his place ;]

  • Messin with the kitty ! lol

  • Rest In Peace...

    Lars

I hope he had a good life

  • XDD weird, my dog is a shiba inu named Shiro (except he's a Black and tan) and he does the same thing with cats. He bounces at them, play bows, woofs at them and runs at them.

  • it will be even funnier if the shiba scared the cat into the pond.

  • hahahahahaa

  • those dogs i have seen before, they remind my of a Dingo

  • thats fuuny

  • thanks

  • That is such a beautiful cat!
