Okay first off FDR was the president of the US from 1933 to 1945 and yes the US was still in the great depression. Recovery did start to happen around the mid 1930s but the whole mess really didn't blow over until after WWII as I recall.

The Great Depression started in 1929 and lasted to about the late 1930s. FDR went into office in 1933, so obviously FDR was the President during the Great Depression. Also televisions had been commercially available since the 1930s, granted they were not like the televisions of the 1950s and not widely had by many people. Elisabeth just needs to stop talking sometimes.

Okay first off FDR was the president of the US from 1933 to 1945 and yes the US was still in the great depression. Recovery did start to happen around the mid 1930s but the whole mess really didn't blow over until after WWII as I recall.

Television has been available commercially since the late 30s. FDR was in office from 1933 to 1945. The Great Depression lasted from 1929 to 1937 (arguably). I thought Elisabeth liked FACTS. Her little diatribe on that day was LACKING facts - which she OFTEN does.

The first TV's were sold in 1938, and the first regular broadcast wasn't until April 30th 1939 by NBC. The first broadcast sent out from the Empire State Building only transmitted to a 40 mile radius! So Joe Kennedy, one of the richest Americans, could watch living in Massachusetts. Wanna try again? @sexyfoxx86 Actually, FDR was President for MOST of the depression. One could argue that the depression started in 1929, after the stock market crashed, and continued until after the US entered WWII, in 1941. FDR was president from 1933 until 1945.
And TV had been invented by the 1930's, although Roosevelt didn't address the nation over TV; it was primarily radio.
