  • Prefering Sarah Brightman's version!!! She's way better, but I know most of you don't really know her's

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Charles Dance I think, don't reember at the top of my head now, he's got blondish curlish hair, the actor that is.

  • This song was feautured in the other phantom of the opera film, have you seen it?

  • The one with charlse dance or with robert englund? or a few others. Yes and they are my favorite.

  • Great Job! ^ - ^

  • Your idea is really amazing! This aria featured in Leroux's novel and it's really great to see it used for a "Phantom of the Opera" video. Truly well done, you chose just the right scenes to fit the music.

  • Great work! I think you used just the right images: nothing so overused that it's in every 2nd PotO video. You didn't get too literal (like showing a mirror every time the "je ris de me voir" line or "miroir" come up or jewelry every time it's mentioned) & even with all the scenes of Christine singing her lip movements doesn't jarr with the song. All of it difficult to do. The images of Christine in full jewelry fit in but aren't used too much. Really good! And I'm glad you put in the lyrics.

  • Beautiful song. So girlish and cute. ^_^

  • l like it.XD

  • i dont like this version, i like the version from 1989 version phantom operaq robert englund

  • Ah par tous les dieux, c'est tellement juste, précis, bien timbré, soutenu, c'est parfait! Rénée Fleming est parfaite! Quel piani!!! Ah que c'est beau!

  • Nice, nice. Beautiful combination of two timeless pieces. Pity you couldn't use the Phantom with Michael Crawford/Sarah Brightman.

  • i like this song but i can't find the french lyrics. Can someone post them or send them to me??please?

  • Ah! je ris de me voir

    si belle en ce miroir,

Ah! je ris de me voir

    si belle en ce miroir,

    Est-ce toi, Marguerite,

    est-ce toi?

    Réponds-moi, réponds-moi,

    Réponds, réponds, réponds vite!

  • Non! Non! ce n'est plus toi! Non...non, ce n'est plus ton visage; C'est la fille d'un roi; c'est la fille d'un roi! Ce n'est plus toi, ce n'est plus toi, C'est la fille d'un roi; Qu'on salut au passage! Ah s'il était ici! S'il me voyait ainsi! Comme une demoiselle
  • Il me trouverait belle, Ah!

    Comme une demoiselle,

    il me trouverait belle,

    Comme une demoiselle,

    il me trouverait belle!

    Marguerite, Ce n'est plus toi!

    Ce n'est plus ton visage;

    La, ce n'est plus ton visage;

    Qu'on salut au passage!

    Bon appetite, iiilovecandy! ^.^

  • whats the french name for this song and the composer?

  • the french name is "Ah! je ris de me voir si belle en ce miroir" and the composer Gounod. this is from the opera "faust" in case you wanted to know that too.

  • The french name is "Air des Bijouxs" and the composer is Charles Gounod.

  • thanks a lot i love this song... thanks

  • No problem =)

  • Beautiful voice! I've never heard of her before this. I love how you made this entire vid flow with the music so wondefully!

  • Oh I DO love this song! And yes... I'm so glad you put it with Phantom since it's such a big part of the book.

  • Wow. This is beautiful, now this is what Christine SHOULD sound like. Emmy is a small high pitch mouse in comparrison to the true bella donna and diva.

  • Renee is the ultimate diva and this is just one of the toss off arias in the sea of her repertoire. She is the consummate artist.

  • Renee Fleming is a good soprano, but she her trills are annoying. I still hold that Anna Moffo has the best version of this song (though I like Sutherland's and Mary Costa's versions also).

  • i agree, i also like Anna Moffo version it is really good to

  • Victoria De Los Angeles?

  • No this is Renee Fleming.

  • Oh. Thanks. :)

  • I absolutely love Renee Fleming singing the Jewel Song. Shes amazing!

  • Sutherland Would have done a better job than this. Don't get me wrong, she is good, but Joan is got her by leaps a bounds in different relms.

  • At least one person posting on this page is midly intelligent.

  • in the movie of robert englund the phantom of the opera the 1989 version jill schoelen who played christine day had also sing the jewel song in the movie.

  • I absolutly love love love renee's jewel song!

I had no clue what the words meant, -but now i do!

    How exquisite! :D

and i do agree, what is wrong with emmy's voice? I always thought she sang really good...at least i think so...

  • Does anyone know where I could get the compelte score of Faust?

  • oh yea I didnt read the oter comments but what does aeverybody have against Emmy?(dont answer that) its mean I dont go around saying this singer sucks. not saying she duz. but still I like Emmy there isnt anything wrong with her voice(dont respond to that i dont care what you have to say about it)

  • If you didn't care you wouldn't have posted.

  • hahaha! true~

  • I agree with you...Renee can sing, and I don't hate it, but Emmy is better...in my opinion.

  • If you don't want us to reply, stop asking us questions.

  • It's called a retorical((however you spell it.)) question. I mean... There's no reason to bash Emmy. Go to your myspace & make an "I hate Emmy" site... It's kinda uncalled for to bring her up at random. lol. Even if this is a POTO video. But still.... lol.

  • I think I've heard this before in the old poto movie..... it was a horror movie & I think it had the guy who played Freddy Krouger(however u spell it i dont really care lol) as the phantom & Christine Day sang that song. & no her last name wasnt daae(sadly) it was day.

  • That would've been above and beyond priceless.

  • i personally am a HUGE Renee Flemming fan! she has this damatic soprano voice that can't be missed! but it's not too heavy that i can't understand. it's dramatic and yet clear! and her high notes just fly up there with impecable vibrato and grace! wow! one day, i'll out sing her! rofl~ if possible! lol!

  • Renee Fleming is AMAZING. I think they should have gotten her to play Carlotta in the movie. It would have been so funny to have them laugh her off stage if she was Carlotta, and then be entranced by Emmy's peanut vendor voice... That would have been priceless.

  • SERIOUSLY! *emmy choking notes out* THINK OF ME, THINK OF ME FONDLY!!!! *Renee all graceful* Poor fool, He makes me laugh- hahahahaha~ rofl! that WOULD have been PRICELESS! LMAO! i really like how you think! XP

  • Renee Fleming is a full lyric soprano with little to no squillo. Hers is an all lyric & not dramatic voice.

  • Shit. I didn't mean dramatic. X_X

  • search ("gerard butler" phantom erik) returns Flemming

By far one of the best returns from my search. This and the German cast are my two favorite. I don't believe this Butler fellow sings any.

  • in the original story, Faust is the opera that is running in the famous French opera house during many of the famous scenes

  • Yup, that's why I got so interested in the opera Faust in the first place =)

  • I really liked this...I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of seeing a real opera song put with clips from POTO.I love both opera and the music from the movie, two things people disagree strongly on,it seems.

  • Not my favorite Marguerite, from those that I've heard, but cool video anyway. Yeah, I remember the '89 Englund version, too. They also used this song in the 1990 two-part mini-series starring Charles Dance and Teri Polo, based on the book of the musical, "Phantom", by Arthur Kopit. They used a couple Faust songs. ^^' I'm rambling now...sorry. Anyway, cool video!

  • Have you seen the 1989 version of POTO? Christine sings the same song. It's nice that you updated it though.

  • haha yes! That's how I first got interested in it. Then I did some research nd got it! I absolutley love the song now.

  • aria. not song. sorry...it's one of my pet peeves~ XD

  • >< Gahhhhh omg I feel like an idiot now because I know that it's an aria. Why the hell did I call it a song?! ><

  • XD it was a "moment"~ don't fret!~* :)

  • I've heard this song in the 1989 Robert Englund film version. They shortened it though.

  • Yeah.. I was kind of bummed about that =(

  • ha, I LOVE Renee Flemming-now SHE'S a real singer.

heck, I've taken voice for two years and I could outsing Emmy anyday. It was pathetic really. >_<

  • haha I hear you there!

  • Well, not like I loved Emmy's portrayal of Christine, but cut her a bit of slack. Didn't she only train for half a year or less in order to sing this role? Your two years would be light years ahead of Emmy's measly training, ne?

  • i've read up on her and she 'studied'at the Metropolitan Opera when she was 7...yes, unbelieveable. she 'studied' there and still sounds like CRAP! and did you know (unbelieveably) she 'sang' with PLACIDO DOMINGO!!! PLEASE!!! placido Domingo is like the worlds most famous tenor! like he'd actually sing with a pathetic excuse like her! PFFT! and how much do they teach you at age 7??? your voice has to mature to some point before singing 'opera'! she's sooooo damn confused! ugh!!!

  • i agree! and SHE studied at the Metropolitan Opera!!!! kiss my ass Emmy! ugh! i've been taking voice lessons for 5 months and i can sadly say that i too can oursing Emmy! it's sad cuz SHE studied at the Met. freakin' pathetic!

  • Again, prove it. Post clips. Otherwise watch your big mouth.

  • Prove it. Post clips.

  • Odd little tibit: This song was used in the 1989 version of The Phantom of the Opera. -nods-

  • Hee hee! Christine singing that? Hmm...maybe book Christine. I could never picture Emmy doing that. @_@ This is very entertaining!
