Actually its the other way around. The one thing I have learned when playing English organs is that even if they look small they are actually very powerful. I play on a magnificent three manual in my town I tell you know my friend it is incredibly powerful even only with 54 stops it is classed as a cathedral organ and its bass is so so one day while I played the ceiling showered dust.
Take Gloucester Cathedral for example. That organ has a very small casing but it packs an incredible punch.
@advisorC101 It's by Dezso d'Antalffy, a organist from Hungary who made his name in New York at the Roxy, Radio City Music Hall, and Carnegie Hall with the NY Philharmonic. I am restoring four of his pieces, including Christmas Chimes. michaelsmusicservice d ot c om
There are plans to rebuild the Willis/Mander organ again. The cathedral has launched and organ appeal to raised funds for two organs where one will be placed centrally on the screen and the other at another locaton in the building. The fourth manual was removed by manders in the present rebuild because of too much overcrowding of pipework under the Triforium arches. Any rebuild of a organ will always attract it's critics.
Lovely organ full stop, and long may it remain up there in the triforium out of harms reach. Wouldn't it be nice to get the fourth manual back with the old stops reinstated and the 1970's "improvements" put in the bin
Very Nice

A celestial portrait of divine textures and diaphanous notes, all the better to scale the heavens in moments inspired of musical grace.

the organ from upclose does not seem that big judging from its stops.

Why do people like cks125 have to be so immature and drop pointless comments like that here?
