GREAT post!! This was a killer dance tune back in the good ole days when night clubs were actually fun and they played all kinds of good music. Thanks again for posting.
Hello FunkmassaVip, thanks for having this song, I've been looking for for quite a while now. Is it possible you would have this in MP3 version to download?
I was first exposed to them on American Bandstand in '81 and ran out and bought the album this song was on. That's when New Wave was in. I played that damn album to death. Wow, those days.
Divine Sounds had a routine back in 1983 with this song. This was before What People do for Money dropped. Mike had a protege by the name of Super jay. He would dance a beach boy style dance, Before carlton from the fresh prince tv show
If I remember correctly, this was a group that Eddie Murphy was producing or something (remember they were in the first "48 hours" movie. Anyway, I agree with statelybird3 ...this is a badass album, so if you can find it grab it. I have been looking for it for about 3 years now, so if you find it let me know where!!!!
haha..my mother has this song along with many many others from back in the day on an old VHS video intitled my awesome music....hahaha..gotta love it...
thanks for putting it up and thanks everyone else for making the 80s so much fun!
I sa these guys several times back in 1980 at the Starwood in Hollywood and yes, The Bus Boys were playin with the Twisters that night. So was Roach (Roach and the White Boys). They were a really great act. I haven't heard this song in over 25 years but I still remember all of the words.
It was a black kid named Dino (DEE-no) and he won that episode. I never forgot it and have searched for this song on and off ever since... fucking awesome! :D
Freak my freak! This is crank man! I love it! My fave bus boys tune right here! Awesome! Thank you from the bottom of my dancin shoes to the top of my hairsprayed head!
Detroit Radio is in the house. This was the shit on WGPR Radio. Black New Wave Funk. Can somebody please post Lil Suzy by Ozone. That was the other Black New Wave Funk classic from that era.
EXCELLENT! I've been haunted by this ever since I saw some kid named Dino perform it on "Puttin' On The HITS" back in the 80's! I think he won that round too, by the way. LOVE IT!
that was so cool is there a video for this song i remember this was one of my first albums yeah album there was anthoner song on there too that ill never forget ANGIE yeah those were some fun fun times. Q-VO.
Hell yeah--I love this song---I heard it on a station in 1986 that played alternative music mainly at night---liked it so much I ran our and bought the cassette---the whole album is the bomb, and definitely worth tracking down. I never undestood why these brothers didn't make it bigger either---my guess is that since they were a black rock band, they were considered a mere novelty and nothing more--a damn shame. Saw them on BET briefly in 1986 saying the music biz was pretty racist to an extent.
This is classic! The Electrifying Mojo used to spin this in Detroit on WJLB during the Midnight Funk Association radio show. You've brought back some great memories. Thanks.
@FunkmassaVip Minimum Wage Rock and Roll was an awesome album it came out about the same time Tommy Tutones 1st Album did 1980 I think thanks for the video.
Yes I agree 100%, The Electrifying Mojo would not only spin this but other great songs also back in the day. I miss those wonderful days and Mojo. I wonder if he's still spinning and keeping his face from being seen. haha! Do you remember him playing space music for nearly 20 minutes before he started playing music? haha! Back then he was on WGPR 107.5 in Detroit!
@SupremeBeatsInc I remember The Midnight Funk Association.Loved it!! Mojo put out some of the best mixes that even today can't be touched!! Been trying to find this track for a long time. Thanks for sharing!
OMG!!! I haven't heard this since it came out! Dude, you ROCK! PROPS to the electrifying Mojo!!! I can hear a little B-52's influence.
