Very Cool, after that we used to go the rodeos that were held there in the late 60's early 70s. Staten Island has close to a half of million people and overdeveloped.
I'm reading that this racetrack was located in Richmond Terrace section of S.I. I would like to find, it's former exact location...? If anyone knows, please post.
Hi - I live on Staten Island, and I can tell you exactly where it was. On Richmond Terrace, at the foot of Jewett Avenue, next to the railroad tracks. It's mostly now an empty lot, but I heard there may be some of the concrete supports for the stands still there. Try Google Earth for a good view of the area.
I can't beleive somebody posted a video of Weissglass.
I went there from 70 when I moved to S.I. till I think 73 when they closed it.
Used to ride home with Charlie Edkins Sr. in the tow truck. They lived on Annadale-rd off Amboy behind Pisano's gas station. I was 13 in 70.
No beaners in Port Richmond back then. They were better days for sure.
Thanks for the post.
