"The New Kojack"; "The New Odd Couple"; "The New Dragnet". With the "new" Hawaii 5-0 appearing to be the exception that proves the rule, classic series do-overs just never seem to get past season 1.
Interesting tidbit. Years later, when Perry... I mean Raymond Burr returned to several TV movies, one of the DA's that Perry faced was named D.A MARKHAM, which was meant as a inside joke to this.
I remember watching this show with my parents when I was a kid. Monte Markham is a very under-rated actor in his own right, but casting him to play a television icon like Perry Mason while Raymond Burr was still alive, this show was doomed to fail from the beginning. Thanks for posting.
@tvnutboy And now Steiner is gone.....he died this past weekend, according to a tweet by Edgar Wright, the director of Scott Pilgrim, who enjoyed watching this show as a kid in England where the show is a cult favorite.
Mr. Burr portrayed Perry Mason for 9 years from 1957 to 1966, then in 1985 made a TV movie just for old-time's sake. The new show was so popular, he made 26 more TV movies in 8 years, then he died.
well, they gave it a shot...thought this was long gone how did you ever find it? thanks a million...I remeber when he was on the promo tour...tough to explain why they did it
Hollywood never learns.

There was only one Perry Mason----Raymond Burr.
Mr. Burr portrayed Perry Mason for 9 years from 1957 to 1966, then in 1985 made a TV movie just for old-time's sake. The new show was so popular, he made 26 more TV movies in 8 years, then he died.

@111knucklehead The New Perry Mason premiered in the fall of 1973. At that time, Ironside was starting season 7.

But one thing is right with this series...in episode 6 there is Jodie Foster. Anyone knows where to find it?

This remake didn't have a prayer; thanks for posting it. Haven't seen it since it originally aired in the 70's.
