  • Coyotes are normally timid of people. They don't just go attacking ppl. Unless someone is hiking w their dogs, have been around their pups way too close or something like that. The coyotes around our farm have been killing the barn cats have been in the barn with 2 yearling foals and have been on the familys porches. Yeah that's nothing compared to hearing the howls. I try to scare them away from the farm and killing the new kittens by finding howling noises telling them to back off.

  • coyotes can be potentially dangerous if they perceive you as prey. Traveling alone through the woods filled with them is quite stupid. I know because I've been stalked by them with a buddy. They surrounded us in the brush and were less than 20 yards off. We growled at them, turned back to back, and didn't run. They chose not to get so close afterward but followed us the whole way out. They are very strong and brilliantly smart for their size. At night on their turf they aren't harmless.

  • this is what I heard the night before my father died. I had never heard coyotes howl before, so I called my dad to make sure that's what I heard. It was the last time I ever spoke to my dad. God Bless those coyotes. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have spoken to my dad ever again.

  • @jago76 Rednecks carrying guns are using this fake video to rationalize hunting coyotes. Coyotes eat rabbits and mice mostly. A lot of stuff they get blamed for is done by wild dogs that some redneck has turned loose to fend for itself. We have a pack of them that I hear almost every night, and I see thier footprints all over, but they have never done anything agressive. Racoons are more agressive than a coyote.

  • A quick and easy fix to this woman's situation is being armed. When they start barking you just bark back with your pistol and watch how fast they beat feet out of the county. I will admit though, being in the woods when a pack starts raising hell makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

  • as a youth in the SW coyotoes are part of heart, but it was interesting to watch them spread across the nation over a periof of just a decade. There has been a reported killing by a pack of a young female jogger in the NE this year. Unusual, however I can say even in the desert, far from the electric light, these animals are not afraid of man in the way most are familiar with. They are wiley!

  • I was sitting at my bonfire in Michigan early this morning, almost 3 am, when i heard a howl to the back of me, really close. So i turned around to see where it was, then i heard another howl in front of me. So i turned around again to see what was happening. Then i started hearing snarls and growls and really intense behavior. Then i heard something like a long yelp for help. That's when i got up and slowly walked backwards back to my house. I live in Interlochen, MI by the way.

  • i live in milton ontario , i was walking back to town(2 hour walk) in a remote area farmland just outside 15 of meadowvale missisauga, they started howling loud and it was getting closer , i think cyotes that live near cittys are much more dangourous becuase they are used to humans and know that we pose no threat to hunt or kill them near a citty , i ended up walkin back to meadowvale for fear for my life

  • They attack children....toddlers and an older boy were attacked in MA. A 19 yr old woman Taylor Mitchell was KILLED by two coyotes on a popular hiking trail in Cape Breton Nova Scotia. Eastern coyotes bred with wolves they are larger. Attacks on humans have been rare but are increasing google it. There have been a lot of attacks.

  • You'd be surprised. There was a reported fatal attack a few years ago. They mostly attack small childeren.

  • The sound of coyotes are little freaky. I hear them all the time at my aunts house. But their howls are usually in the distance. Except for tonight I actually heard their howls coming from behind my house. Now that was a mix of creepy yet exciting.

  • i started camping in a pack's hunting zone. There was a den a few cliffholds away. I barely intrude on their property. I live in a native leaf and stick shelter. I notice they are always interested in my tracks and what I'm doing. ofcourse! Im on their land. THEIR hunting zone. They like to follow my tracks. I showed them that I follow theirs too, to give them an additional knowledge of my nature: I don't lose a fight. But i dont go picking one either, and they respect my camp.

  • I'm sure they do attack people once in awhile, especially when rabid. But I'd still be way more terrified by a group of humans walking around my ranch at night yelping and hollering. Coyotes are the loveliest singers in North America and ought to be appreciated as such.

  • The only coyotes i've heard of attaking people had rabies. The only exception was a little two year old who was killed while running around a neighborhood unsupervised. This was about ten years ago. Honestly, who would let a child that small run around unsupervised!!!! That was the only human death I've ever heard of blamed on coyotes. I think it was purely the parent's fault.

  • @XxStaticKillaxX that's what i've always believed too, growing up in the woods in central Texas, but that theory was thrown out the window when i went camping in SE MO a few years back. Had a very large campfire going and music playing. a pack came into the camp. we got in my truck and fell asleep waiting for them to leave.

    i was previously warned that some coyotes are aggressive. i didn't believe it and was proven wrong.

  • @XxStaticKillaxX I live in chino hills and coyotes are not that afraid of humans anymore. not too long ago a kid was almost taken by coyote in mid day infront of his mom at chino hills state park. and about 10 years ago in laguna woods a man in his car was surrounded by a pack of coyotes.

  • i live in australia and a couple of weeks ago i was walking up to the car to get something from it at about 530pm (in the afternoon) and i heard a fucken dingo howl and it scared the living shit out of me!!! now hearing this it actually sounds kinda cool :P

  • The reason they bark so much is because they're usually in smaller groups than you'd think(maybe even 2-4), so they try and give the perception that they're in larger groups by yapping incessently. Makes it sound like more are there.

  • I dont know where you live but I hear this everynight from about 35 feet away. Theya re skittish at best and I have NEVER heard of a coyote attack. Here in Maine folks shoot em cause they eat chickens.  I personally dont worry about em...they run away and if they smell another dog they are gone anyway.

  • That is a load of crap. Coyotes do not "attack" humans. Maybe a little kid or a baby. They don't even "pack up" like wolves unless a domestic dog leads them. They are a curious varmint and pose no threat.

Not sure if they thought I was going to feed them or be the food. This has now happened a few times in our town. These guys are not afraid of people at all.   • We have them here in Colorado. They are mostly out in the evening through to the morning. I've seen them here in Littleton.

  • i think theyre in pretty much every state. I live in connecticut and I hear them very often. Its pretty developed where I live too. I usually hear them at 3 or 4 in the morning, packs of them howling. Its rare to see them out in the day but i have seen single coyotes wandering through my backyard before.

  • They're pretty much all over AFAIK. The only thing is the ones here in the east have interbred heavily with the grey wolf, so they are MUCH larger, and they show it in their size (almost twice as large), coloration (less red), and BEHAVIOR (more aggressive and hunt in PACKS)! Yes, they will hunt people if they think they can take them, I speak from experience.

  • Just got home from walking my 2 pups & I am still shaking. We have a path that I take them on in our neighborhood.Its wooded but safe. Its dead silent, then I hear 1 coyote houl, & several more & they get louder..then more,like a large pack - SCARED me to death! I started running with my pups "behind" me & could hear them louder; echoing this erie houl/cry that was haunting. They were running towards us & I ran until I got home. I wonder if they smelled the pups? NOT going there again @ nite!

  • stamolka your a dumbass. Us humans also hunt animals such as deer , ducks , geese, etc.. which keeps the population to right size and also keeps the deer from dying of starvation or disease. You should see large farms with food sources that havent been hunted.. the deer are tiny and constantly losing their browse line. Also , you should see Canada when waterfowl are in flight, there is a gigantic population of ducks and geese that need to be limited for their own well being.

There have even been groups averaging 150lbs., and a few weighed in at 170-180lbs. Why does Fish and Game feel it is doing a Community Service by establishing extremely low weight ranges? They even claim no Wolves live in NY State.

I have heard of them going after unattended kids- but only in areas where stupid people feed them habituate them to humans. They make short work of pet cats here in our nighbourhood though. They are mostly pretty harmless, unless you are a roadrunner. Even then....

  • The one death in CALIFORNIA was a toddler. Attacks on humans are very rare and when it does happen its usually a child. The only adults in California that have ever been attacked were walking a dog. about one human is attacked per year. Its pretty rare, at least here in cali.

  • Hi, I live in a town where coyotes are staring to attack dogs, and small horses. So I do belive they will attack a human. We have to keep r dogs inside now because r next door neighbor guard dogs got killed by them. SO STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

  • For all that see this video, no one was attacked by coyotes here!!! Coyotes yelp and howl and it sounds like an attack. I have seen many coyotes in my day, or at least heard them and saw their eyes in my spotlight for a second until they all bolted away from the sound of a human approaching.

  • Not true. There are coyotes on record that have been near or exceed 100 lbs. Depends on the location the coyote is from. The eastern US has the biggest.

  • we had a pack of coyotes here in NC last night going after our hens, I still have to go down and see if they got any. We've been hearing them for the past few weeks but last night they were closer than ever to the house. The dogs haven't responded to them earlier but our german shepherd was giving them a warning bark last night. With that and me switching on the porch light they took off into the woods.

  • One night I walked the foothills in Cupertino, CA. There was only the moon to see by, and that wasn't very bright. I was I was walking between two large groups of coyotes. They were on either side of the trail. Nervous but talking calmly, saying hello, I'm just passing through, you guys take care now, and so on, I just kept walking . I could see their yellow eyes in the dark watching me as I passed. They never moved. I just kept going. They stayed and I took a different route back to the house.

  • My friend has had coyotes come and attack somthing as a foal. And when she found the foal it was only its head.....so if it can take somthing down as a faol im sure they could easily and would if starving or mad or somthing but you guys think your soo safe around them...well all of you poeple who think they wouldnt attack you if it had the chance get ur heads out of your butts!

  • That reminds me of the night I went tracking during a fresh snowfall. I was following the trail of a coyote, and he ended up following me! He barked at me, followed about eighty feet behind me for about a hundred yards, then when I climbed a fence and ducked behind it, he paced within twenty feet of me, making all kinds of uncomfortable noises. Fortunately, he lost his nerve and took off. It was a little spooky.
