I remember being about 5 years old and completely awed by Pavarotti's performance, appearance and voice...listening to him again here just left me open-mouthed as if it were the first time hearing him.
Nunca nacerá nadie como él. Nunca vivirá nadie como él. Nunca cantará nadie como él. Esto es absolutamente sublime y siempre que la escucho me muero de ganas de poderlo volver a ver. En el cielo yo lo veré.
when i was a child, a friend of my parents gave me a cassette he made himself with the audio play of "le petit prince" on it for my birthday. after the play, there was this song on the cassette. i loved it since i was little and i still do :)
A wonderful rendition by a wonderful singer. Comparing singers is always dicy but I will say that Bjoerling has a pensive timbre in his voice that suits this aria perfectly. and so I prefer Bjoerling's version. This comment is not to denigrte Pavarotti's performance what-so-ever.
Great that Luciano showed Domingo how a LONG difficult note 2:22 has to be sung!! Domingo SUCKS regularily at this part. Domingo is by far the better actor with more movings and emotions, but afaik opera is mainly singing. :)
I wanna sing this!!!!, doesnt matter if it sounds ugly, and the way as musnt be sung, but sing this jewely piece deserves to be sung. Listen it, feeling it, just a WooooW, dont you think youtubers?...also with recondita armonia
well think about it. oviusly must be a difference from the year of this video.. but just 3 years (before his death), oviusly he known so much more how to make this song.
watch his emotions.... at the end. i'm italian and i assure you that i can understeand ALL THAT HE SAYS. i just want to say that (is a little difference from who doesn't know the italian language). especcialy domingo. He was really a very good master to be able to sing on italian language.but domingo is a master to learn italian
i wanted to say that the words that an italian person can says on italian language are
with so much more significance. i'm saying that becouse only who can compleatley understeand this language can really think about these words on the song. The italian country have more dialects than any other country, so i don't think that domingo (very good singer) can understeand all that words.
i'm happy only becouse i can understeand all. is very very special
I agree at 2:37 I thought the emotion was going to be too much for him. I love Pavarotti. The only critisism I can give is I think Mario Lanza gave a more emotional performance of Vesti La Guibba. But thats only my view.
I agree and the only reason he didnt show as much emotion on the beginning of the song is because he is following exactly as the story is going he doesnt start feeling deep emotion until he hits the phrase of never loving life more
The Pav is my favorite and will always be, but did anyone else catch the smallest of pitch problems he had at 1:38-1:39 or was it just my ear? I only ask because I have heard this song hundreds of times and it's the first time that caught my attention?:)
I just cannot watch or listen to this without tears flowing from my eyes...Not only Luciano was insurmuntable in his delivery, but the story of Tosca as well...Cavardossi realizes he is going to die and states his dream of love has vanished and he is dieing a desperate man, now that he truly loved being alive... intense, truly, Opera is the total opposite of Hollywood, a happy ending is just not an option
At the and he says: "I am the master, I am the music, I adore you all!" - with some pain on his heart.
