  • Totally cool!

  • Saw them live last weekend..amazing!

  • I have never seen a string quartet having this much fun with their music!

  • Brooklyn rider came to my school and performed for our orchestra!!!!!

  • These guys just performed at my school and let me say, they are amazing! It's something new and I love it.

  • his... bow hold....?

  • @psychostella Yeah, he holds it in a baroque style. I'm not sure of his technique with his pizzicato though.

  • These guys came to the summer music festival that I am at right now. we got to have several masterclasses with them and I got to meet the violinist with the beard (Johnny). It was incredible.

  • braaaaavo. beautiful performance, keeping in character with debussy and perhaps giving it more life than he could have imagined! what a g

enius. 15/8, that section is sick!

  • I saw them live, front row. Absolutely breathtaking. :)

  • I play violin and am first chair for my high school orchestra and I must say, BRAVO!!!!

  • This is good!!! People who say "This is gay," fail.

  • w o w

    lovely

  • I play the Viola and it is so wonderful... the sound

  • Well done guys! To the immature, judgmental commenters; if you love music and talent, close your eyes and listen. Let your comments be more about the music and less about your irrelevant judgements of the musicians' style of dress, place of origin or plucking technique. We need to inspire and encourage this sort of talent and collaboration.

  • I still don't understand how anybody plays a violin with consistent notes without frets

  • @minibullet91 By developing a good ear. ;)

  • Sorry but it was dumb as hell

  • holy crap they rock

  • great performers, but hard to look past their hipster personas

  • Not quite my genre???? But you guyz seem to really be into it! Kinda like great sex, it might not look pretty but it sure feels goooood! Peace Out....

  • I bet you that back in the day Debussy got all dePussy.

  • nice and wonder stuff!

lol the guy in white....uses his thumb to pluck?!

    thats something different!

  • Almost could look past them looking like hipster d bags

  • wow...I thought only college aged musicians were ego-driven bitches. I didn't realize that a lot of older musicians act the same damn way.

I don't put it past an accomplished musician to make a comment on a youtube video - this is 2010 and there is a lot to look at and learn from on here, but honestly...people who are talented and accomplished in music should have some class, not resort to high school or college aged catfights.

  • They are so good. I wanna play violin so bad!But my parents can't afford one

  • I like this sound, good to see nice music mixed in the spotlighted video's. The cello player slightly resembles Kissin, no?

  • kkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Wow, I really wish we could have this kind of stuff brought to our schools more for our children to listen to. I think it would spark interest into the arts more.

  • They sound too much like traditional Jewish violin music. It's not contemporary, except perhaps in the USA

  • "the group is helping to shake up the once staid image of the string quartet." Yeah, nobody has ever done that before!? Duh... I think I'll buy a cowboy shirt and start plucking my fiddle with my thumb LOL

  • Hermoso exelente muy buenos musicos (Y)

  • beautiful stuff. I like how it is recorded as well. Thanks for sharing this stuff on youtube. Sounds like a pro sound recording classical group for a high class movie!

Way to go, nice ending !

  • debussy? love him. modernize? at first was very boring well how you played it was boring...but it got interesting in the middle, then it kinda got weirder? then it was sloppy in the end...you ppol got skills...but i think there is something missing...

over all...i watched it a couple of times and i think its just the place which ddnt really bring out the music or it could be the arrangements.

  • There is such thing as modern string play and theres your classical string play big difference.

  • I love seeing and hearing talented people who obviously enjoy playing something beautiful together.

  • exceptional

  • 原来小提琴还可以当吉他弹。。。有才

  • Just wondering, why does the violin player on the left have his hand so high on the bow? I've never seen anyone hold their bow like that o.O

  • @JonLeeNJ

I believe he's doing a modified version 'baroque styled' bow hold. Other than that, he can be doing that for more control of the staccato notes. :]

  • Nice. Wow

  • um, btw, for the detractors, Johnny always holds his bow that way. and every time I see him play I am astounded by how good he is. Just bc Heifetz didn't do it doesn't mean it's not working for him...

  • go to

    crazz-e-forum.webs.com/apps/members/

  • These musicians are awesome. Totally enjoyed!

  • Check out my tracks please!!!

  • Awesome! Love the viola part ::DDDD

  • @happybirthdayto007 rofl so true

  • beast

  • Rofl.

they should maybe rethink thier name.

the rap industry has corrupt todays current meaning.

I thought it was going to be stupid rappers rapping awesome debussy.

  • @australiatousa Wow, a stupid ass rascist bitch? Ha, I'm so suprised!

  • @justincrzo And just how does my comment stating that I was impressed with this music by Americans make me a racist bitch? Are you on drugs or something?

  • i smell gay

  • of corse you would. because your an ignorant fool :)

  • cool music

  • they all used star power at 1:53

  • Awesome.

  • enjoyable and awesome dynamics

  • more cowbell, dammit!

  • Beautiful!

  • more pizzicato !!

  • Lovely!

  • Wonderful! I heard this on NPR the other day, its great to see it posted here!

  • wonderfull players!

  • 0:10 to 0:14 the farmer lookin dude on the left look hella funny. haha LMAO

  • i wish i still played :( oh well good job you 4!!! keep it up!!

  • who could listen to this garbage?

  • Wow these guys are talented!

  • Beautiful! I love the violin!

  • this music is terrible

  • Hold the bow correctly hippie. Your tone will improve.

  • @capitalismforme

    It's called a Baroque bow-hold...

  • @AznPandaFTW I appreciate YOU trying to inform ME of what it's called especially when I've won 2 world championships and have played the instrument for 36 years but no matter what you like to call it - it is incorrect. You'd never see Heifetz holding it that way.

  • @capitalismforme

Good for you. Want a cookie?

  • @capitalismforme

    Wow, way to brag, kid.

You could at least prove it with a video or something. Come on.

  • @capitalismforme youre name seems to fit, considering you cant prove anything you just said ponyboy

  • @bennoblack21

So true. Anyone can lie about how many championships they've won over the internet.

  • @AznPandaFTW true, im Tupac by the way.

  • @bennoblack21 I'm Yo-Yo Ma

  • @capitalismforme hahahah stfu liar

  • @MrGrevy

HAHA, wow. Everyone just ganged up on him. :)

  • @capitalismforme Lol, youi're channel says that you are 37...so you've been palying an instrument since you were 1? Highly unlikely. Besides, if youre so good, post a video of something as proof. Until then, pfftttt you.

  • @MultiTheMadHatter I'm 38 and have been playing since I was two. The average age most us start playing at. I would have been happy to suggest where you could see me perform but after reading all the adolescent comments; I don't care to share other than to say turn on the radio. Chances are you'll hear me at least 3 or 4 times within an hour.

  • @capitalismforme

    Yeah. Whatever.

Because a 2 year old can play a violin at that age. Oh, and I certainly bet that you were probably a virtuoso by 4 years old. Did you start composing at age 6?

    /sarcasm

Post video, or give us your name.

  • @AznPandaFTW Well it looks like you have it all figured out (sarcasm). I have no time for your adolescent debate idiot.

    1. Heifetz started age 3

    2. Perlman started age 4

    3. Menuhin started age 4

    4. I started at 2 and gave my first performance on stage at 4.

Don't be jealous because you're a hack and some of us were accomplished by the time you were just learning how to ride a bicycle. :)

  • @capitalismforme

Someone's a butt hurt 'adult'. Easy to hide behind a keyboard isn't it? Lying about every single detail about your life; that's just sad. And apparently, since you responded to my comment, I believe you do have time for a debate.

Now go on, just give us your name and make a video. Unless of course, you're lying.

And since everyone's lying about their careers, I'm a 60 year old rapper. My name is C-Dawg. I raise unicorns and have a unicorn ranch down in South California.

  • @AznPandaFTW I love unicorns!! I had no idea they lived in South California!! C-Dawg you are soooooo cool and magical.

  • @hotwaiter

hotwaiter, you're pretty cool too. I'll give you free unicorn meat if you ever come down by SoCal.

  • @capitalismforme

    Haha. Stfu liar.

  • @capitalismforme

Haha looks like you arent mentally accomplished enough to find out that nobody gives a fuck. :)

  • @capitalismforme Well I've been playing for 37 years and I've won 3 world championships.

  • @AwonWps

    :)

  • @AznPandaFTW Er, if he's using a modern bow, it's actually detrimental to his playing to hold it Baroque style. Tourte and Viotti (look it up, genius) developed the modern-style bow 100 years before Debussy wrote this piece, and the composition of strings and setup of instruments changed dramatically in that time. So only a complete moron would defend what the violinist is doing by saying "It's called a Baroque bow-hold..."

Also, he really should be making the same sound as the ensemble.

  • @TheMaskedMarvel1

    TROLOLOLOLOL.

  • @TheMaskedMarvel1

And good job making a new account, capitalismforme.

  • string players are so animated when they play :-)

  • Everybody's Simon Cowell...just enjoy!

  • ok...so whats up with the first violin plucking with his thumb and holding the bow 4 or 5 inches in from the frog???

  • @Jamestheredsoxfan its probably just more comfortable for him or maybe he gets more control over the bow.. who knows

  • @Jamestheredsoxfan thumb is used for chords and up from the frog is for a lighter but still controlled sound.

  • @Jamestheredsoxfan Baroque bow-hold.

  • This is great! I love it when the musicians are animated :)

  • Im always afraid that they'll break the strings when they do the pizzicato...

  • i got a question. is this in a totally different arrangement? :D just asking. co'z there are bits and pieces of it that sound like something else.

  • Fail

  • I'm impressed-it would be good to see these giys work with a progressive rock band like(King Crimson)

  • This made me cum

  • claude debussy is mesmorizing and slightly demonic...in a good way!!

  • @mistermowfoe

This is about music, not about race or gender. Go back to school.

  • Interesting bow hand from the 1. violin, isn't it? Putting his hand so far away from the frog.

  • Great sound guys! So much passion from these 4 fine musicians

  • @IamGAWD777 .....

  • @IamGAWD777 you're an idiot

  • i like..

    :)

  • This is an amazing sound. Someone posted a link to this on FireViews. it's awesome.

  • where the hell is the trombone player?

  • Well Done. The tempo might be a little slow for my taste but very rich sound!!!

  • I'm so happy that people still enjoy such music, then we shouldn't loose hope in future :)

  • you've gotta love the emotion they put into playing.

  • very nice.

  • i thought that was "earl" on the right

  • @QraQrJaq HAHAHA

  • @QraQrJaq Hahaha it is.

  • sweet! As long as i don't have to analyze it, Debussy is good :D lol

  • @otislee08 One of my favorite composer's next to Saint Saens, and Dvorak.

  • @itsMOCA Oh really? How awesome you faggot! MANG! YALL NIGGAZ BETTA STOP WATCHIN THIS SHIT AND GO LISTEN TO FIDDY CENT NAH MEAN!??!?!

  • @NeoRasata Oh hi NeoTasata. First of all, I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to disregard your first statement, seeing as you do not know me and couldn't possibly ascertain anything TRUTHFUL, or RESPECTFUL about me, and second of all, I can watch and listen to whom ever I want, so please take your unsolicited advice back where it came from :)

Have a GREAT day and God bless you!

  • @itsMOCA well said

  • @otislee08 Ugh get over yourself and stfu. "analyze it" sheesh

  • @MrGrevy no...i think i'll talk as much as i want about this lol. I enjoy Debussy when i'm not having to sit and look at the music transcribing or doing the harmonic analysis. He's a great composer, but not easy to analyze being a 20th century composer. so...troll on! :)

  • @otislee08 lol umm no, not a troll at all, I just recognize weirdos posing as elites. Nice try...I just don't buy into your nonsense. I understand that must be maddening, but you can seek attention elsewhere...are you autistic or something? Bizarre guttersnipe lol

  • @MrGrevy not trying to get attention, just a music student, not an "elite" (what ever that's supposed to mean). not autistic either. not sure how my comments are nonsense either lol...made sense, i thought.

  • @MrGrevy going along with otislee - you've obviously either never gone to college or never taken a music class in your life. every analyze text? guess what - music is a piece of text, same as anything else. you've also obviously never taken a class on modernism or modern literature.

  • @bfacta07 What in God's name are you basing that nonsense on? modernism? stfu or explain yourself. One has nothing to do with the other. Sad weirdo.

  • lol its quit good =P

  • I'm lovin' it!

  • im so confused

  • i loved it

  • wtf?

  • @kukuleleful its creative musically talented people making amazing re imagining a pianists music onto string. So that's what the fuck.

  • @Luv2sing2u84 it is de bussy, he sucks

  • wow o,o
