I love that Petrucci is the only back-up vocalist now. Portnoy is an incredible drummer and songwriter, but I find Petrucci's voice behind James' rather than MPs is a lot better

@TheBouch00 I agree, but as a solo vocalist, I think Portnoy is better. For example I love it when JlB and MP would so that cross vocals thing like they do in Constant Motion.

@White1Tiger2Dan Yeah, I never would expect JP to be a lead or solo vocalist. But when it comes to Portnoy's solo parts, they're mostly monotone and kind of hardcore; not very melodic. It's not a bad thing at all, but it just suits his actual voice and the music he would use it in

@larsson1414 I think so. He's definitely changed styles over the years, but I think at basically every point in their career he's been able to fit the music pretty much perfectly. The only thing he has a bit of difficulty with these days is hitting some of those ridiculously high notes from the first few albums, but that's to be expected with a man who's been singing at his intensity for nearly 30 years.

@larsson1414 the songs are getting easier. A4 is the highest note in this and in other new songs too. It's pretty easy to hit with James' voice even on his worst days. Sadly, he can't handle the old songs properly anymore. Listen to the "live at marquee" tracks, including another day and under a glass moon. He was a beast back in the days.

@dreadzombie101 I miss that moments! Really, no kidding. I'm from Indonesia and really really hoping that they would bring the band in Indonesia! They're awesome persons in so many ways, not just the rock is amazing, but the slow's are the best musical arrangement too!

But I think that's not gonna happen in a few months, as I look for their's touring schedule, ended at 2012 just only for europe and american zone. Not including Asia, or even Indonesia.

DT is not all about Prog Metal, they have a lot of other softer influences such as Pink Floyd, and that has always been the case.
