@hinata3487 that's because we're looking at mainstream garbage swill being forced down our throats. when you look at nico nico videos and such, that's part of the japanese indie scene. look at some of the independent and niche artists in america, there's tons of good music here. they just don't wind up on the big radio stations or headlining at Madison Square Garden on nationwide tours....but then neither do the guys on nico nico.

@spitnik11 Part of the problem lies in the fact that most singers in the music industry over here in the US is that most of them, while talented, are entertainers first, and singers second.

You raise a good point though - even some current 'mainstream' artists can stun you on occasion....like Pink: she's got quite a voice when she chooses to use it (and it sounds like she's had some amount of classical training). That's just an example...

And I LOVE Vocaloid. Some people probably beg the question "How is that any different?"... There is a difference because Vocaloids sound that way to intentionally create that noise. It's a style of music. Auto-tune is used to make someone sound better (usually making them sound worse in my personal opinion).
