  • Who want to learn chinese?

  • 笑x左出來

  • awesome

  • Very nice(*O*)

  • very good acting fight scene movie. i like it...

  • 好厲害 除了唱歌外 還演短劇 真有趣

  • Vietnamese?

  • Her parent Chinese but she is Vietnamese for sure but her cantonese sounds funny. But she still very pretty :)

  • dam, she has a beautiful voice. But dam, vietnamese sounded almost the same as cantonese.

  • @turbobenx, what? It doesn't sound anything like Cantonese! For one thing "v" and many exotic vowels don't exist in Cantonese. She does switch to Cantonese around 2:05.

  • @angryjalapeno r u ignorant or wat? You're getting too specific. All i said was it sounded almost like CANTo. I never said it's the exact same, did i? The sense of hearing gives u million different of variety of sounds. Not just your ignorant comment of "For one thing "v" and many exotic vowels don't exist in Cantonese".

  • 唱的、演的都不错。

  • It's an interesting vedio: not only because she sang in both Vietnanmess and Cantonese, the dancers were good too. I like her voice.

  • anyway in the shanghai grand people rarely fight by hand, they commonly stand in two orderly formations and shoot each other, typical shanghai marfia tactic...

  • nice la

  • can you tell me who sang the song?

  • thai doanh doanh

  • Well there are some people who are chinese viet.

  • tiu ni lo mo kou hi

  • This is the first time I heard this song in Vietnamese or Thai. Very interesting

  • its ok iguess... lol the viet vers is good the cantonese part here could be worked on a bit. but usually vietnamese ppl can speak cantonese pretty good imo =P lol

  • LOL it sounds .. interesting... maybe its cus i speak cantonese HAHAH and its weird listening in a language i dont speak haha

  • ok, people, from now on i refuse to comment on anything as they usually end up in fights. call me anti-social, but whatever

  • All spoken languages sounds good when sung. It is a cultural construct. Audiences with similar background will appreciate the singers singing in their language. Just enjoy the music and the diverse vocals of the cathcy "Shanghai Bund." Great piece of song. Personally, the only comment is that the pronunciation in Cantonese can be improved. Otherwise, it is well sung.

  • nice!

  • vietnamese lang isn't attractive to the ears but better than Thai.

Thai is very unnaturally ugly sounds- very wimpy. objectve opinion

  • ีืunscholar idea

  • how dare you insult the thai language?!? vietnamese sounds so much worse than that!

  • similar objective opinions of people of different nationalities- Europeans and asians.

Thai language sounds are not attractive to the ear and like a wimp talking in spineless manner!-

This NOT saying the Thais are unattractive ^ spineless people- They are beautiful people.

  • It's usually best to leave things the way they are, especially this song. It was originally written in Cantonese, so let it live in that world. Don't translate it into other languages because it sounds STUPID, especially this specific version made my Asia Entertainment. The singing (both VNmese and Cantonese), the choreography, the stage setting is simply unartistic. Please, please: stop ruining anymore great classics! HORRIBLE SINGING! YUCK! YUCK!

  • Que bonita canion o que bonito se escucha por que en realidad sigo buscando la letra en español je

  • She is a Chinese living in Vietnam, that's why she can sing in Cantonese as well as Vietnamese.

  • but her Cantonese pronunciation sounds kinda weird...

  • shes gorgeous. is she a viet-chinese? i heard there a lots of chinese living in vietnam. 2 million chinese in Ho chi minh itself

  • shes sexy!!

  • a great song

  • geesh...give the chinese-vietnamese a break...

  • To harbin, its just like saying mongolians are similar to northern chinese. This is a useless argument. Take note many vietnamese have chinese ancestry. And there are many chiense in vietnam

  • To isama, not harbin

  • 白痴一个

  • xao ni ma the g bur and tiu ni lo mo

  • Poor people have also the rights to enjoy the fruits of human civilization.

  • rights are an illusion.

its all about whether or not ur willing and whether or not ur able.

    no such thing as rights.

  • shoot...It looks like vietnamese stole or remade every good Chinese songs, no matter in Mandarin or in Cantonese....Did they pay the license fee to Chinese music companies?

  • China is well known for music and movie piracy. Who are they to complain even if they didn't get paid royalty for their music?

  • @googleabcd So you thought Chinese didn't do the same things to American's song? ha ha,lol

  • @googleabcd: First give us Hoang Sa back, then we can talk about the fees!

  • 越南版上海滩

  • As for "all the shooting & dead people," it's part of Vn artistic performance style onstage to dress up in relevant costumes when performing a theme song from a movie, TVB series, or Vn opera. Just curious, is this video from 1 of the Paris by Night shows? Again, thanks for sharing such a beautiful video!

  • Regardless of Ethnic Prejudice, I wish we can all simply appreciate musical art as is, in any language. Modern Chinese music has a received influences from English & Japanese music, especially in translating the lyrics into Chinese, such as Chinese version of My Heart Will Go On. Ancient Vn was written as Chinese words, especially in Chinese calligraphy. It's just pronounced differently & syntax is also slightly different. There are Vn elders who can read & write Chinese & write calligraphy.

  • What a surprise to be able to see this video! I've heard Nhu Quynh's version on CD, but what is this singer's name? She did a pretty good job singing the Canto part. In Vn language, there is no exact "ch" sound as in Chinese, as the Vn "ch" sound is actually a "j" sound. So she pronounced the word "like" (似) as a "ji" instead of "chee." The closest Vn equivalence of the Chinese "ch" sound is actually spelled w/ an "x."

  • I think her name is Thai Doanh Doanh (蔡盈盈)

  • Sounds great in Viet.

    Great show. Love it.

    Thx for sharing!!!

  • Mexican

  • 後尾先係唱廣東話?

    Cantonese from middle to end?

  • 系啊,距广东话d音都好好个嘛。唔错唔错

  • The original is in Cantonese sung by Frances Yip. This lady sang the Vietnamese version in the beginning, then she sang the Cantonese version at the end. Some people don't even know that there's a Mandarin version of this song.

  • shes hot

  • The transition in language is acutally pretty obvious...

  • what kind of occasion was this? I am surprised that even vietnamese are singing this song, and they were all wearing the typical Chinese costumes of that time. This girl looks pretty cute, too.

  • i think its was a vietnamese music show back in 2003 they sang all the best classic songs from different countries and in every song they dressed according to that country's culture and that period of time of the song. and shanghai grand was one of the song

  • what language is she singing?

  • Vietnamese

  • Is she Thailand?

  • Vietnamese language

  • its not Vietnamese !!!

    it is cantonese(chinese)

  • like the song, like girl

  • bad performance, bad vietnamese and very bad chinese.. does she know what is she doing

  • Hi Zjustforyou

I dont know what your nationality is!

If you were Chinese: you can complain her Chinese. But I doubt your judgment of her Vietnamese

If you were Vietnamese: it will be in reversed way.

Both way, your point of view is not recognized in your comment and thus you should ask yourself what I am talking about instead of expressing does she know what is she doing both in meaning and in grammar!

  • or is it thai because this movie series is famous in thailand too

  • interesting

  • very good! girl!your chinese very good too.

  • OMG? Is this vietnamese

  • yes, i believe she can sing in vietnamese and chinese, but this is vietnamese :)

  • she is bery cute. one of the most classy vietnamese singer I know.

  • to many of you that couldnt tell that she was singing two languages and thought the vietnamese version was another chinese dialect is because vietnamese and chinese are quiet similar. vietnamese are the chinese cousins. we were part of the land in china and migrated down to the south. check wikipedia for more info. type in Nam Viet (the first name of vietnam) OR type in Nan Yue (mandarin pernounciation.

  • Vietnamese is not similar to Chinese at all, but they did borrow many words via Cantonese from the Chinese language.

  • trien30 dont respond to me if you dont kno shit. i kno both languages so i can say that both languages are similar. only reason y it seems so different is because we (vietnamese) have diff sentence structure, we mix a lot of many chinese dialects in our language, and we have different tone pronunciation..........

  • even the most common vietnamese word like Cam On which means thank you would be Gan Un in mandarin even tho they dont use it, instead they use Xie Xie. see the similarity? like i said we use different word structures thats y it sounds diff but if we break each words down, we both will have that word.

  • I'm sorry I speak Mandarin but also know quite a bit of classical Chinese but I cannot for the life of me figure out what words "Gan Un" would be. Do you happen to know what characters they are?

  • I guess it is 感恩

  • I guess it is 感恩

  • The two words in Chinese that correspond to the Vietnamese words for Thank You are 感恩. Cam On(Viet) = Gan En(Mand) = Gum Yun(Canto) = 感恩

I think about 50 to 70% of the two languages are the same, but with different grammar and word composition. The similarity is in the vocabulary. Especially the formal words.

  • thank you

  • Does anybody has an MP3 version of her singing this song?

  • she sings well in both viet and cantonese, i must say that was a killer performance :)

  • I had to listen a couple of times to realize that she sung two languages The first portion sounds pretty good & pleasant, the second is OK but not as good. But idoes not matter to me, she IS so cute & attractive.

  • Is the Taiwanese version?

  • Viet.

  • The singer is ok, but the way of this performace is ver stupid.

  • The first part is Vietnamese. Second is Cantonese. There is a story behind this. A very famous movie called Shanghai Bun. Was made in many different versions. A classic. It was a story similar to God father. I like the song but not the killing part.

  • she is hot and cute

  • she started with vietnamese then changed to cantonese. didn't really notice until the 2nd time i listened to it.

  • Oh this is Vietnamese ,I know cuase i am thai

this is not thai language .Anyway what's her name ,her performance is very good.

  • 呵呵,这是外国人唱中文歌,算不错了。要有口德!最后几秒的喝彩说明台下的观众还是蛮高兴的!

  • shiet, vietnamese is annoying.. but she sings good tho..

  • 第一次聼泰文好正點

  • I think this is Vietnamese not Thai. Anyway, I can not tell the difference.

  • What's the name of this singer?

  • Thai Doanh Doanh

  • Depgai and depviet

  • btw, she's hot, and her cantonese and vietnamese is just... i don't know! sexy, the way she pronounces it, i mean
