@GotNextVideo Yeah podcasts are great promotions for all of the comedians. It works very well for them. But we both agree that as of now there's no profitable market for strictly radio guys. After Louis CK has made over $1 million off of his self released special it could open doors for them. He only charged $5. So O&A could something along those lines $5-$10/ month. But that's a huuuge gamble. If it doesn't work they will be fucked. I think Opies waiting for someone else to pave the way 1st.

I feel the same type of depression that i had when we lost Pryor, Carlin and Giraldo. It's a mixture of that I'm sad for all the things that death is, but I'm also sad for the future, that shit will happen without that insight, and that unique spark. We're losing a lot of goddamn geniuses, and we're not going to find others like them, especially Patrice.

@hehehe88 @hehehe88 I felt this one so much worse than those others. Carlin and Pryor didn't really phase me because we lost Pryor as a comic so long ago, and Carlin was so prolific we'll always have him. Giraldo was a pretty bad one for me, but Patrice was worse, just because he was my absolute favorite, he hadn't amassed the body of work he should have and he was so close to finally breaking through.

What Von says here about how he didn't think anyone cared is pretty heartbreaking.

How can they profit, what can they charge, how do they pay the producers. If they figure it out it'd be great because they can add a visual element and have complete creative freedom. It's just not profitable, especially when a lot of the great podcasts are free. Rogans onto something w his ads but its no 7 figures like they're getting now.

@WeWontEscape Rogan's profits come from road gigs. The ads just pay the cost of the show, but the show puts asses in seats, and now he plays theaters instead of comedy clubs.

Not sure that makes sense for pure radio guys.

@FuckingCameron I agree, theyre going to keep milking the satellite tete for the money as long as they can. Yea, management does fuck up and holds them back in many ways but they're paid well and adapt to the bullshit. Some great radio regardless. It's hard to say they've become a more mature show but in all honesty they have. The threats are half sincere frustration towards management holding them back in way and half 'bit'. Also switching to podcast-like format is a tough thing to do.

Thanks Steve. Big respect for being against posting the 16 hour benefit material. I lost my car so no more XM sub for me so ill admit that lately YouTube has gotten me my O&A fix. I don't feel too bad that XMs not getting my money after 5 years. But that being said I do what I can to support O&A and the whole crew.I bought the Patrice material, I'm glad to help out his family. Screw Sirius/XM though, podcasts are the future of talk/ comedy style radio. And the future is right now.....
