C'mon Rojas... Tell us something relevant. You are stating the obvious here. Been awhile since I visited your awesome channel.... Thin I see this! ...?
Nice mirror. Now what are you goin to do with it? Maybe use it to heat a boiler for home heat or something. You could keep the inside of one of your cargo containers nice and warm. By the way, my little ceiling fan motor that I got from you is awsome. I dont get enough wind back here in the woods where I live. It was fun to make also. Thanks for thevideos. (Tom)
"If a pilot is 6 feet from my satellite dish, my dish would be the least of his worries."
Thanks a lot, Dan! That line has me laughing so hard, the coffee in my mug was transferred to my wall at great velocity via my nose. Now everything smells like coffee.... which in and of itself isn't a bad thing.
Dan. Love watching your experimenting. Looking forward to your next project where you get a large steam engine running off of Solar and have the engine turn a regular generator. Large! Few hundred watts!!!!
@homertalk - Aside from the obvious lack of education evidenced by your illiteracy and profanity, where's your ice age evidence? Because the ice, by any standards. seems to be taking a beating lately. Or maybe you've just failed to keep up with the class. Seen the latest Koch Brothers-funded study, done by warming skeptic Dr. Richard Muller? Short summary, since I figure you're only good for a few words, and I'll type slowly so you can understand it: "Oops, our bad. Global warming is real."
Dan!! I am really excited to see you put a water coil at that focal point and start pumping water through it!! I so wanna heat my house via radiant floor heat through this method. Get some data points for me so I can learn from your mistakes buddy!!
@romnsch13 West coast nomanclature i guess, (I'm from ca.) But I suppose your right. I argued with a lighting and stage deco guy over this point some years ago,...... I guess I must have looked pretty stupid. lol:)
@romnsch13 The guy who invented the lens was French, and his last name is, in fact, pronounced "Freh-NELL," where I capitalized the emphasis. It's a common mistake, though.
@arafetkanso Heat is not pro global warming per se. But chemicals that isolate the atmosphere and keep the warmth trapped, so it cant disappear into space... like the glas in a green house.
@georgemargaris it is a good source energy, but compare this : a dish to produce Light\Heat, or a dish to produce 220V-AC , so if you have AC output is greener than light\heat , Thanks
@arafetkanso - Uhm, yeah. Great point - except for the part where you're completely wrong. I've got two solar thermal panels on my roof keeping an 80-gallon tank full of hat water for my home. If I tried to power that tank electrically, using photovoltaics, I'd need at least eight times the area of my solar thermal panels at a much higher cost. Solar electric is always going to be less efficient than solar thermal if all you need is heat for water or cooking.
@arafetkanso It doesn't PRODUCE anything. It takes the solar energy that would normally hit a larger surface, and concentrates it to a smaller point. Had the dish not been there, the exact same amount of sun light would simply have hit the garden over that larger area instead. Look at it this way - it creates a concentrated point of sunlight, but at the same sime, makes a huge spot of SHADE hehind it, which evens it out.
He was sitting here, and watching a GreenPowerScience video, so all that stupid he couldn't have been ;)
Always remember, that while you may be better at logical thinking, he may be the one that will start your heart, one day during a heart attack - we all have our strengths and weaknesses. The important thing is to know which they are :)
But how much green electricity does a black car produce? Or a black top driveway. This could exponentially increase the output of a solar panel just outside the focal point, or work a sterling engine at the focal point.
@arafetkanso The thing doesn't generate heat it reflects heat (infrared) from the sun and concentrates it in its focal point. That heat from the sun was already coming to the planet.
@arafetkanso thanks for that comment, I am starting to understand better why some people don't believe in global warming and green/alternative energy, they just don't have an understanding of basic science.
@arafetkanso It could stop Global Warming by reflecting the sunlight back into space that would have hit the ground. We need to build 100,000,000,000 more of them and get carbon offsets from Al Gore and become as rich as he is.... I gotta go, need to start building those reflectors...
@arafetkanso Let it also be made clear that too much heat is NOT what causes global warming. It's the greenhouse gasses emitted when fossil fuels are burned that causes global warming. Heat alone doesn't change anything.
It focuses solar energy for any heat-required function. There are many devices that are engineered to operate on this type of energy. If you watch other videos on this channel, you'll have a better understanding.
Mm... plus, hitting a cockpit window with a tiny laser would be pretty difficult, and forget keeping it stable. I only ask because there's laws specifically about it, and people get all pissy and sentenced to a dozen years in prison etc for doing it, but afaik no ones ever crashed or been really bothered by people doing it.
A piolet wont be 6' from the dish but a bird could be. but the best part, so could flying insects! Dont they pop neet when they fly thru the FP

I would think a parabolic mirror even at the focal point wouldnt be able to damage a plain because of how fast its moving

@arafetkanso solar is mostly 12 V anyway. 220 V is really a very dangerous standard for households if you ask me.
But again: Heat is not the problem, heat is necessary for balance. The problem is TRAPPED Heat that cant reflect into space.

@arafetkanso a single black car produces 2x the heat this does in a day. A black top driveway=20x the heat stored.
When not in use, this dish reflects sunlight away actually cooling.
