  • Anyone notice the voice over artist on the "sweat the details" commercial? It was actor Richard Widmark!

  • They should put "Circus of the Stars" on DVD. Extra points if they find and use a copy with the original commercials. Hell, they should do a 10-DVD box set of 1980s commercials. Plus one for each other decade except the 2000s and 2010s.

  • i wish i was born in the 50's- that way i could enjoys the 90s/80s and by the time it hits 2004 (personally thats when the world went downhill) i would be old.

  • When I was 18, I was most assuredly not dreaming about one day owning an El Dorado. Now that I'm 34, I'm still not dreaming about one day owning an El Dorado. Owning a Ferrari or a Porsche--yes. A Cadillac--no.

I think being assaulted by a horse is better than being thrown off a bell tower. Not much better, but better.

It's surprising how few Christmas ads there were. During 2010's NFL December games, it seemed that every other commercial was Christmas themed.

  • Memories. Thx for the post. Marlon

  • im getting nostalgia watchin this and im only 17

  • Hey who were the Atlanta Falcons playing this day and do you still have the whole game?

  • @acetrain81 Maybe. I'd have to check the original DVD I recorded to see if the game was recorded off of the tape. On many of them I only recorded the commercials.

  • @acetrain81 The Falcons were hosting the 49ers. San Francisco won 35-17.

  • This is when it was all good....Now it's all crap.

  • Hmmmm... Didn't GM just file for bankruptcy not too long ago? Yeah.. How's that " Sweatin' the details" workin for ya GM? Back then they could get away with it because the general population didn't know any better..

  • WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH ALL THE MONEY YOU SAVE?

    What a jingle!

  • wow, who knew kim novak was on a local tv station.

  • "Evening Magazine" was technically a show on a local TV station, but there's a huge difference in production value/budget when it comes to a show produced for a large TV market like the SF Bay Area. Also, I think she lives around here.

  • yeah, i'm sure that must be a huge TV market out there. i live in cleveland where local TV is the dregs of programming.

  • Kenny & Dolly...I wonder if their "extraordinary first special" was also their extraordinary last...

  • Whatever happened to digital gauges in cars? I had a 1988 Thunderbird with digital gauges

  • TONS of cars have them these days.

  • Best of aaalllllll........It's a Cadillaaaaac! Then, not now.

  • Cadillac always seemed like an old man car to me back then. Now they're awesome. CTS-V anyone? Wait, are they really awesome or am I an old man now?!? SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!!

  • Ahhh. GM digital dashboards. They died about 4 days after the warranty ran out. Good job Roger Smith.

  • Nobody sweats the details like GM

    LOL

  • Gleem is a pretty awful name for a product.

...and A Company Called TRW? Is that kinda like A Tribe Called Quest, you gotta say the whole thing?

  • I agree with you.

Do you know what TRW was?

  • christmas commercials seemed cozier in the 80s/early 90s

  • RIP, Cadillac.

  • Not so fast, they're still making them...

  • this is awsome 5:00

  • those poncho-clad cheerleaders look a little insane lol. but that TRW ad was awesome :)

  • Oh GM. If you only knew what would become of you in 25 years, you wouldn't stuck to designing airplanes instead of cars with digital speedometers.....

  • I have a cousin that collects Budweiser Steins every year. Each more beautiful than the next. I have one, too.

  • god that GM commerical is sooo badass

  • I loved watching Circus of the Stars as a kid, and that Kenny and Dolly Christmas special was a mainstay in my house every Christmas. The Miller Highlife Christmas commercial with the horse and buggy was the one commercial you'd see every year at christmas up here in Wisconsin. Thanks for posting!

  • I'm surprised we haven't seen Circus Of The Stars revive itself in the past decade of reality shows.

  • They actually have a new on in the works from what I understand... God help us all.

  • love the cheerleaders/dancers in their spiffy matching rain ponchos

  • LOL! The first commercial is just guys lifting the cover of the truck and walking back and forth
