Great videos...Ive recently developed a calf strain at the bottom of the large part of the muscle (slightly to the outside of the leg) and stopped football for two weeks with no loading (apart from walking) until I was walking pain free. I was back at training last night and was able to jog and sprint no problems...then during some two-touch football I made a stand-up tackle and *pop* the muscle went again and that was me.....any advice??
@gazumpty repeat what you did before, but get some treatment from a sports therapist. Massage, stretching and strengthening should help to stop it returning
@adamabdelaal SOunds like a calf strain. Make sure you rest it, apply some ice and a compression support or bandage over the next few days. Once comfortable to do so start some gentle stretching and get some massage, then start strengthening it with calf raises.
These (and the other calf strain videos discussed by Neal Reynolds) are probably the best and simple to digest calf strain advice i have seen/read. I suffer regularly from calf strain and most sites seem to have a general idea of how to treat etc but Neal describes everything i experience (the point about being able to sprint but not jog is exactly as i have suffered).
Some excellent tips and pointers and will certainly be adopting them in my treatment and prevention!
