  • the best moments I've ever had with you...

  • They are such an underestimated band, I love this beautiful song

  • anna6467...if you're lucky, one day you too will be a geezer. You won't be young forever.

  • Wow. All of you are geezers. I just came here because of the mystery link

  • This song is fantastic. I can't wait until they will play in Oklahoma City. After all these years they sound just like they did in 60s!

  • This is truly beautiful in a world that isn't.

  • so sweet...song..

  • Saw them in July 2011 and they were great! Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater Fl. great sound in that place.

  • This song is sublime - it brings tears to my eyes. Silly me.

  • Love all their songs.

  • Terry still is handsome here to me. I mean his smile it is so endearing. I just adore him, I majorly do. <3

  • love this song....

anyone, who has the 60's version vid of this song, please upload it...

  • is curt boetcher in this?

  • WOnderful to see all the original guys together again....and yes, this is totally live, no post-production or overdubs.

  • 4 idiots actually disliked this video!

  • @Sergeant26

Thats because they cant hit the harmony parts in their bands... hehe

  • Lovely song, always was.

  • My favorite song by them...I'm an "old fashioned guy"...God bless the Association for continuing to dress with...and sing with...class...even into 1983...Tunesmith

  • Truly, one of the most amazing sound ever! This group was so underrated at the time. Only now do we realize how great the music was and timeless!

  • my jazz band played this song las year its very relaxing

  • If I'm not mistaken that is Brian Cole's son Jordan on the keyboards here. Brian provided that heavenly voice that you prominently hear on their classic recordings. His death from a heroin overdose was such a tragedy.

  • Why in the hell isn't this classic band in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and why isn't Terry Kirkman in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame?!

  • great memories of great music days. Thanks for posting from New Zealand

  • one word =brilliant

  • Without doubt, the Association is one of the Greatest Harmony Groups of all eternity...Dan O'Niallain

  • They were the opening act at the Monterey Pop festival and the crowd loved them. I cannot understand why they ( along with the Young Rascals and Three Dog Night ) were never big here in the UK , especially when rubbish bands like the Monkees were so popular.

  • One of the best songs EVER.

  • chills...forgot how timeless this song is. Beach Boy harmonies 100 fold better.

  • such awe inspiring music. I would love for someone to come out with material such as this again. Please ?

  • These guys stayed at my house in 1982. I booked them at a club I was managing. They came for a home cooked meal while on the road liked it so much they asked to stay over and have breakfast with my family.

  • @motheronafight I know how that feels, I was a kid when the "Safaris" stayed with us and used our garage in San Fernando Calif. in the early 1960's to practice. I alway wondered why all the neighborhood kids would keep coming by to watch these guys, who turned out to be my dads friends. Anyway it proves that when the music industry was young, some of the best talent did not care who they stayed with. They were just down to earth. Some of the new talent today is also the same.

  • they're so groovy!!

  • I love this song too, but can't get over how much Terry's tambourine playing is out of time in this video. The really odd thing is that his vocals are right on the money while his right hand is oblivious to the tempo. That almost doesn't seem possible.

  • @bipadeebop

Many percussion instruments-and the tambourine is one of the worst-require the player to perform the physical action in anticipation of the beat-there's the split second it takes to complete the action followed by the split second for the instrument to produce the sound. The gong is the worst-scares the bejeebis out of someone who isn't used to it, takes 20 seconds or more to get it vibrating to project the big sound when required .

  • still holds up to this day......great hook, great vocals

  • The Association are on tour in 2010; Sept 20 The Villages Savannah Center The Villages FL; Oct 8 University Of Saint Francis Fort Wayne IN; Oct 9 Tupelo Music Hall Londonderry NH; Oct 21 West Virginia University Creative Arts Center Morgantown WV; Nov 6 Wild Rose Casino Resort Emmetsburg IA; Nov 13-14 Suncoast Hotel Casino Las Vegas NV; Dec 3 YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts Bay Shore NY; Dec 4 Allentown Symphony Hall Allentown, PA.

  • This song was in my dream, for whatever reason. I woke up and thought I have to hear this song immediately...this is a beautiful tune!

  • @msOctober12 Same thing happened to me with Make a Plan to Love Me by Bright Eyes. Love them both.

  • Who needs a spoonful of sugar to make the blues go away when YouTube offers us ambrosia like this? ("Is this heaven?" ... "No, it's Aiwa." ... My computer's speakers and our ears are truly blessed!)

  • @TheZuchinniman whats Aiwa?

  • @TheThroney Aiwa (pronounced similar to Iowa) is a company that manufactures high-quality audio speakers.

  • @TheZuchinniman I'm amazed that you know that!!! I sold stereo equipment back in the early 80's and here in the US they were known mainly for tape decks and portables. But I heard that they made good speakers. I also heard that Aiwa in Japanese means "sad song", or maybe "crying".

  • My older brother (RIP) was a great fan of the Association - my favorite was Requiem

  • my god they sound so good live. they pull of the vocals amazingly.

  • what a great find!! thanks for the post.... this was 1 of my most favorites of that great era!!!

    peace & love

  • This is WHAT'S REALLY GOOD. I wish hearing about band reunions made me anticipate something like this. Does it have to be that all the good bands that go on a reunion either a) suck or b)ride in a tour bus plastered with Pepsi ads and play six dates with tickets going for hundreds of dollars, held in shitty venues? Great band.

  • This is funny that he says that he was nervous about this song because I love it. I'm 30 and this is my fav song of theirs. In fact I've come to learn that a lot of oldies songs that I love come from this group, but this is my favorite.

I love that YouTube gives people like me, who's 30, a chance to see these guys as they were...thanks for posting!

  • The Association will make their first New York City appearance in over 10 years on Friday July 23. The concert will be held at BB Kings NY NY. I have my tickets.

  • @sixitiesking

que coisa mais lindas as musicas dessa banda, que saudades.

  • I saw them in 1983 at The Circle Star Theatre in San Carlos as part of The Happy Together Tour with The Turtles, Gary Puckett, and Spanky And Our Gang...great show! Still have the pictures I took.

  • @rpdugoni I saw this same concert in New Orleans in 1983.

  • Terry is very much alive and very much a gentle, amazing and powerful person... He and his wife are both unique, beautiful and humble people...He is a treasure

  • CLASSIC...no matter who covers it, THE ASSOCIATION IS the definitive version.

  • good

  • MY HEART JUST TURNED INTO MUSH :-)

  • I have always loved this song and others by this group. Sounds good to me. Viola(Sparkle)

  • Feb 13 The Birchmere is in Alexandria VA

  • NEVER MY LOVE

  • Without a doubt you are correct. Even though Cherish is known by millions of people, and with so many other great tunes to his credit, he still is under rated and not talked about enough.

  • @BobbyColePopMusic I LOVE THE SONG, but.........................it would be a close race for me with I'd Love You To Want Me by Lobo or Make It With You by David Gates and Bread. It does not matter, they all came from the greatest Rock era ever and will never be matched. This ole 70's Rocker in NC is still listening to them and will forever........................ Great Post!

  • From what I understand, Terry Kirkham is a certified rehab therapist in SoCal. He is an amazing talent, playing several (I have heard 23) instruments competently as well as being a great songwriter and arranger. One of the most underrated musicians of all time.

  • I saw them in 1983 at The Saenger Theatre in New Orleans as part of The Happy Together Tour with The Turtles, Gary Puckett, and Spanky And Our gang.

  • Never been a band like them...never will be another. I miss this group so much. Got to hang out with them once...very cool bunch of guys...down to earth and very pleasant. Replicating themselves live was always difficult because of the massive amount of vocal tracking they did in the studio and the fact that their music tracks were all done by studio pros, as was the norm in those days. This is one of their better performances...

  • Bfore i forgot Larry's SMile so cute

  • Larry Ramos playing the guitar soooo cool. Nothing change.

  • I loved the associations way back when and never my love was my favorite.... I still have their records... thanks for bringing back good memories.....

  • Terry is from Kansas and has a low tone to his voice.

  • @BobbyColePopMusic FRom Kansas and doing well these days in Pasadena, CA.

  • Thank you for asking mme to be your wife. I knew before you asked, that it was what i wanted. You are the mmost sweetest, yummmiest, caring husband in the whole world. Ik hou van jou, mmmy Mmmichael!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw this concert in New Orleans at The Saenger Theatre. It was the Happy Together tour with ' The Turtles, Gary Puckett , and Spanky And Our Gang. It was awesome.

  • I believe Terry stopped touring.

  • Bobby,

I worked for The Association in the 1980's, handling their public relations. I spent an afternoon with Terry and his wife a couple of years ago in LA. He was doing fine at that time. I tried to call him recently and the number was disconnected. As far as the other guys, I saw the band in Arlington Heights two summers ago. Russ and Larry and Brian's son are with the group. I wasn't familiar with the other guys.

  • Hi Cindy,

Thanks for writing. I've become quite friendly with Jim over the years and Terry I've talked to and hung out with a few years ago. He's more private.

I knowTerry's on Facebook but does not partake in anything and has minimal friends. He remains private.

  • @BobbyColePopMusic Yes, Terry and his lovely wife remain private. They moved out of L.A. a year or so ago and he is doing really well.

  • @jad50

I stay in touch with Terry every so often. I've told him I plan on recording his song "Come the Fall" someday..

  • Do you happen to know when an old friend I've lost touch with, Bruce Piktor (sp?) played with the group. He's a terrific drummer and I know he was with them for some years.

  • The Association is one of the few bands that has grown sweeter with age! ;)

  • This is such a wonderful song! Thank you for posting it. I saw the Association sometime shortly after this date ... more like 1985-6 (I believe) & it's the same line up. I have pictures I'll dig up!

This song is not an easy one to perform live, and there was a GREAT LIVE version that was posted on YT from a 2008 concert I believe. The mix was professional and so was the editing. YT made them take it off! Do you know what show that would have been from ? I would love to find it again.

  • wow.. where did this come from..it was great..not much from the early 80's out there.

  • Whoa! What an incredible piece.

  • Beautiful absolutely perfect.. man i wish they made more songs like this today.. seriously..

  • Right on!!!

  • i am an out and out rocker , but this song is just so fucking good!

  • I truly love the vocals on this video and it

would be a real treat to hear ALL the guys

    do it one more time!

  • It would be INCREDIBLE! Guess the Rock hall thinks Little Anthony and the Imperials were "rockier" than the Association. They are being inducted this weekend in Cleveland, ironically for their great vocals. Terry looked so fantastic here. I miss him being with the group. I miss Jules, Ted and of course Brian too.

  • GREAT SONG, GREAT BAND, THANKS FOR THE VIDEO.

    Precetto.

  • So good live so understated . so Brilliant . Thanks Bobby . john

  • Sweet!
