this storm was on my birthday... wierd thing is, i hate thunder and lightning, so i guess mother nature sent a huge storm. i woke up to it with a huge crack of lightning. i was riding home with my dad when i saw another dark cloud. i said " i hope that isnt the same cloud in the morning..." it was. i was about 9/10 on the way home and i saw 13 lightning flashes. it was crazy
Don't get too overhyped about seeing a tornado, because I guarantee about 95-99% of the public couldn't tell a tornado from a gust front, micro- or macro-burst, and a lot of people swear they see rotating clouds.
Contrary to what people are led to believe by Hollywood and local news, tornadoes are EXTREMELY uncommon and most are weak (winds less than 100 mph) and short lived (a few minutes at most).
i think i had the most interesting view of the storm passing thru although i didn't record anything . . . i was on the 40th floor of the usx tower lookin out the window when the storm hit, def exciting to see.
dude, i was running home just before it started so i could get my dog to the basement if it got real bad, and it hit just like that. i wasn't even half way home when the wind almost knocked me off my feet twice, and my house was only 200 yards or so from where i work up in fox chapel. talk about crazy!
I heard they also spotted one in the West End. The science center is nearby, and it got smashed up, too. But it looks like the flooding was much worse out your way; hope y'ins made it through all right.
This is right after the tornado hit Uptown. I saw it with my own eyes. At 2:45 it roared, got dark fluorescent green and this burst of twisted wind came and just ripped off our roof like it was paper. You should have seen the debris on Fifth Ave. RIGHT after. I was on the first floor, no time to get to the basement. The building is shaking, and collapsing and I had my head covered thinking: "I'm going to fucking die in a tornado in the city of Pittsburgh!" Scariest thing I've ever experienced!
Great rain video....makes me wish I was there.....

We had funnel clouds in Washington County as well. That goes to show you that tornadoes can indeed ocur in this area.

Man that storm was intense. I was at work on Route 8 when it came in, saw a cloud funneling up.
