@duhzzzz Works on the principle of magnetism, probably 2 magnets creating a magnetic field which makes the string vibrate. You don't need to pick at all, just place it over the string you want to hear.
Works exactly the same like when you get feedback through a microphone from a speaker, except here it's done deliberately and since the string will only vibrate on certain frequencies, it will sustain the note instead of producing that annoying squealing sound...
@SrDeMaFp That's a Dimarzio Super Distortion 100 in soapbar format. Really old pickup, over 30 years. After removing the pickup covers and the original mini humbucker, this would fit right in without the use of a saw. Not that I would ever use one on this axe. ;)
wow, i would say that qualifies as MARVELOUS, and a new favorite. I just ordered the ebow and can't wait until it arrives, until then, i'll listen to this magic...
well after watching 10 ebow videos, this one being the 'best one', i have determined this product to be absolutely retarded and pointless. the same can easily be done on a stratocaster using volume swells.
@sillydillydokieo This is one of the best, I like it, but you should watch "Sunderland" by Luca Colombo, the soundscape he creates is absolutely amazing...
That's fantastic.I been mucking around with the guitar for a few years now but still can't do much more than some single note tunes but I've got an ebow today for Xmas.adds a whole new dimension to what little I can do.it's awesome.great tune by the way!!cheers
Could the EBow be permanently installed under the strings, beteween pickups? If so it would make for an alternative to The Fernandes Kit which can only be installed on some guitars...
@Ghostman7777 insults are not necessary ... but if you want to talk about incredibly stupid person, I think it's incredibly stupid to kill some animals for nothing
Well that is just you, and I wasn't insulting you. I was insulting stupid people that wouldn't think twice about saving the life of a baby chipmunk over a baby human.
And how is killing whales not necessary?
Commercial whaling these days is mainly done for producing food for lesser developed countries, and I don't know a bout you... but whales seem to produce ALOT of food.
@Ghostman7777 When I said some animals, i wasn't espacially speaking about whales. I think there's a difference between being against killing whales until there's no more whales at all and "stupid people that wouldn't think twice about saving the life of a baby chipmunk over a baby human", just try to see the difference. Commercial whaling for lesser developed contries ? Ok, and after whales, who's next ? Do you know how much animals have already disappeared because of humans ?
@MagneticStratocaster Yes actually I do know how many animals have become extinct, and I can care less. Most hunting is done in moderation and is done so as to keep population down. Whaling is done in moderation as well (unless you are one of those modern pirates who do it just for fun) so they are in no danger of becoming extinct. This whole "Save the Whales" campaign is ridiculous, just like all other anti-hunting campaigns.
@Ghostman7777 Quote: "Commercial whaling these days is mainly done for producing food for lesser developed countries" Thats crap, most demand for whale meat comes from Japan and Korea. Lesser developed countries simply can't afford it. I dont mind people killing a whale when they are hungry, as long as it is neccesary and done with respect to the animal. But some whale species were or are very close to extinction due to commercial whaling and "disguised" hunting like scientific whaling.
@Hv358 Yes Japan and Korea whales are also whaling, but Japan and Korea also have huge populations, and yes underdeveloped countries such as Indonesia and Bequia are huge contributors to whaling.
Also it is impossible to tell whether or not whale species are close to being extinct because the ocean has (and probably never will be) not been fully explored, so therefore an accurate census of whale populations would be impossible to determine, so that argument is invalid.
Please answer me mate, i have found out my old one its the orginal with chrome plated plastic and the red light without an on-off switch, are these worth anything ? CAN ANYONE ANSWER ME?!
@21callum21 No idea, if they are worth something. I still have to buy the new model to find out how and what they changed, if anything, tonewise. I expect the new model to be more easier then the old chrome plated models, though. Anyone else got some input?
Think the new model wont have this flaw because it can be always on (it has an on/off switch). Mine is one of the first models, doesnt have an on/off switch, and will switch off if there isnt any string motion.
The E in Ebow is short for Energy. Says it creates an energy field which sets the strings in motion. Not sure how exactly how it does this but it might just as well be the light.
Great song. It sounds a lot like Porcupine Tree. And it's cool to see the eBow in action. I'm just finding out about the eBow, and it looks like a really cool little gizmo. Thanks.
Hi, yours is called Toneport I believe, but I think it works just like a Guitarport. If your Toneport works with Gearbox it will work with Guitar Rig. Toneport and Guitarport are just means to bring your guitar-signal to your PC, they contain no modelling hardware. The GT-10 rendered Guitar Rig and the Guitarport useless so I am not using those anymore. That UX1 would still be useful though, as you can get a mic and record your amp with it.
Setup is guitar connected to pc with Line6 Guitarport (USB), software used was Guitar Rig 3.0. So, pretty much all software based. I made the backing track with Ezdrummer and instruments in Ableton Live. Guitar is a LP Deluxe Goldtop from 1979. Thanks for commenting, much appreciated.
