  • Hmmm...as to the earlier comment, I have an Amilcar chassis AND a Hispano V8 lurking in the shop... Must give thought to a marriage.

  • @123yyz123 Nice items to have lurking in the garage would be great to see and of course hear such a combination!

  • They used Hispano Suiza motors in post ww2 surplus 109's when the daimler benz 605's wore out...

    Brilliant car

  • @RaceClassicTV

it is indeed a V12, 12X is the model. It was later developed into the 12Y and 12Z, used in various French fighters of the Second World war.

  • @hangarrat101

I've written to the cars owner to see if he can confirm the model and will update again as soon as I've heard.

  • @hangarrat101

Just heard back from the owner with the following information regarding the Hispano Suiza engine apparently its a Type H.S. 57 12 Mb

  • @hangarrat101 The 12Y was also built under license by Klimov and no doubt served as a basis for their own 105 series engines, like those used in the magnificent Yak-3.

  • is this a hispano suiza 12x engine?

  • @hangarrat101

The engine is a V12. From around 40 sec Anthony covers the specs of the engine. Be sure to start from the beginning though to hear the full story!

  • That's so unusual for a car to sound like that, absolutely wonderful though. More of that please :)

  • As if by magic we filmed this clip of another aero engined machine "1929 Napier Bentley Aero Engine Fires Up at VSCC Spring Start 2010". In fact these two cars were parked next to each other during the filming!

  • @RaceClassicTV

Right, I see it now, thanks for pointing it out.

Some very special videos you guys have, I found there's a Hispano-Amilcar, aero engined as well, would love to hear it if you guys by any chance get to interview and all that sort :P

  • We'll be sure to look out for a Hispano-Amilcar!

  • great car! thumbs up!

  • @creamofcardstv Really please you enjoyed it, be sure to have a look at the recent footage posted of the aero engined 24 litre Napier Bentley, aka the "Flame Thrower"!

  • 2:39 bugatti type 35 or 37 sweet

  • What an amazing engine, and sound to go with it.

  • Glad to hear you enjoyed it, we'll try and shoot more of this kind of thing if people are interested!
