  • watch my vid UrbanAggie Rap

  • For all you unemployed and, like me, underemployed you loose your fear of having to use the Gov't handout/trap. You may not have lights, but you have food. For those who have to have some meat protein, earthworms, those pesky snails(chickens love them),Yeach, but in a pinch its an option.

  • WONDERFUL I love it!I live in a townhouse w/ my son and we are trying this on a smaller scale til we can get another house.

  • love your channel! keep uo the good work!

  • Hi, mike and Missy here Massaachusetts. We are inspired by your composting, green living. Love the youtube stuff. We just rec'd a compost tumbler via UPS and the first batch is cooking for our urban garden.

  • more bending in front of the camera

  • I think theses dudes do not post anything anymore...

  • Looking forward to more posts!

  • who sings that song?

  • Pat Benatar I think

  • The Pretenders, I`m getting old.

  • I look up to anyone trying to live more of an independent life! My husband, myself and 2 younger children are beginning our urban homestead journey! Keep learning!!

  • what was with that tacky cleavage shot?? bad taste!!!

  • I agree

  • @MrMikezz5 ok but alot of ppl liked it! ;)

  • I'm spellbound by such sustainable lifestyle. I wish my family have such sustainable lifestyle.

  • Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it.

  • Nice cleavage shot at the beginning... hee hee

  • Whooohooo...kindred souls!

  • I think I've heard it all now, " Let us show how to do this because we don't know what we are doing". LOL. 5 stars for initiative. :)

  • looks like were going back to how the indians lived this land

see they were living here the last 10,000 years for free

and yup free food as well no mortgage no bills no taxes yes FREE

until the new world peeple came with metal coins called money and building called THE BANK then

    guess what everybody OWES !

welcome to modern day slavery where you work your butts off to make someone RICH !

    ha ha ha

  • If you want to live like the Indians, then you should expect that at moment the neighboring tribe will come and steal your horses and women. LOL.

You've been watching too much TV.

  • Okay, I wanna join your journey.

I have 7 acres, and want to be as close to self sufficiant as possible. Hope we can be friends.

You have a great start. A hippy chick by your side and a faithfull dog.

Keep up the good work. Going to subscribe now!

  • It aint easy being green. Keep up the hard work!!! I'm in the west and I'm thinking about moving east. It looks like the farming is better over there!

  • Nope its not easy no matter where you live however you can do things in the west to garden while being water wise. First look into edible natives in your state. Water thirsty plants can be help by mulching, drip irrigation or other more effective methods. Google, youtube or library your way through information availible.

  • Yes and look into permaculture methods like swales and rain water recuperation. If you design your farm well, you can do a lot more!

  • Look at that girl: hot, hot, hot!!!

  • HEY,really enjoy the blog.I live up in Maine so our winters are like yours.Spring is here making maple syrup season just ended. Finally found time to rack and stabilize the Raspberry Mead started last winter.Rhubarb is up so some sauce and wine is in the future and pie.We try to live a simple somewhat self sustaining life also.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK WITH THE BLOG.Looking foward to more.If there is anything I can help you with let me know. Not physically of course,to far to commute.THANKS AGAIN

  • Hey, love your interest in inner-city sustainable living! I hope your able to inform people that you can do it anywhere, even in a city! Funny thing I am actually, possibly moving to Rochester for work.Ive heard that the South Wedge area is supposedly progressing nicely. Is this true, do others in this area of the city garden, compost, etc.? What other ares of the city would you recommend? Hope to see more videos from you both! Thanks in advance for any feedback you can give!

  • self-suffiency can begin anywhere people, all you need is the determination to do it.

  • first of all the song is by the pretenders not dar williams. secondly, rochester will never be sustainable. move to the west!

  • what is wrong with rochester? isnt parts of the west hard to drill for water?

  • Cool we are moving upstate to do the same, not as far as rochester. Anyway good luck. PS - I always thought that was the Pretenders song, Im gonna check it - cool!

  • WONDERFUL CHANNEL.

  • Luv all ur vids!

  • Why is it that not a single one of the video responses have anything at all to do with urban homesteading? Thye range from a couple of ladies fixing a toilet to some guy talking about pedifiles, with a couple of others that are total gibberish. Just a rant, I still like your dog, he's better behaved than my hyper nutball lab.

  • >>> wyoming777

We are trying to keep spam video responses in check, but it's new to us. I left the prison video up because even though it is totally off topic, there's another system in America that needs an overhaul.

  • I think you two are onto a Great Idea... I Will enjoy watching the progress in your endeavor... I wish you the best of luck... P.s. you to make a good pair...

  • >>> johnreon

    Thanks for the kind words.

  • Puke.

  • Good looking dog. Looks happy. I'll be watching your following posts. Good luck!

  • U should watch mace hates chairs. Its funny.

  • Nice video. I think it is a cool idea. Good luck with it.

  • hey Kris, Ben, Tiberius, and 'ruca!! so i cant wait 4 the next ones to be edited(they're good!!!) and im hopin to get my own blog about current issues and fun skills/experiments goin. Paz :P

    love, ur big little bro

  • thanks steve! love you too!

p.s. just remember that someday college recruiters will see your blog, so try to keep it clean. ;-)

  • Im from Waterford in Ireland which is twinned with Rochester. Apart from that, i dont understand how urban individuals think that they can contribute in any meaningfull way to the betterment of our globe, by applying "greener" ways of dealing with their daily choices. I do admire what you are doing, but im too much of a realist to think that its going to influence anybody at any real level.

  • Good point! I am going to startup my doit yourself tannery after all. Obviously I will have little effect positive or negative on the world, I am after all just one person. I am glad I didn't sell my hummer yet. You have talked me out of it, thanks! I was dreaming of cutting back on my contribution to pollution and what not, time to face facts and be real! Righteous!

  • >>> dannyodwyer - What do you think we should be doing instead? We'd love to make a bigger difference, but we're not sure what to do besides try to live as responsibly as we can. Since the majority of humanity is concentrated in urban areas, developing sustainable cities is necessary if we're ever going to be a sustainable society.

  • Pleasant...Thoughtful...Nice Vid with no edge for a change. Good Luck with your effort & THANKS!

  • pretty gladiolus! i'm happy to see youtube being used as a medium for positive change. best of luck with your urban homesteading efforts. my brief stay in rochester left me with the impression that it is a fairly supportive community for projects like this. is that accurate? i'm lucky enough to have a rural homesite to embark on my own off the grid lifestyle, but i lack the community to keep me going. remember: it's a process! peace...

  • >>>tabstragwort - Our community is definitely what keeps us going. We're excited for you... you must be so proud to be off grid - all we can say is "if only"... thank you so much for your feedback. I'd love to take credit for the gladiolus, but I don't think its my place.

    ;-)

  • CULEROO

  • The best part was when i stopped it 10 seconds in.

  • Cool idea for a series. Hopefully, we can all learn to live a little more sustainably. Cheers.

  • good

  • Love how the human race has been destroying the earth since the beginning of man kind and now all fo a sudden the "trend" is to go green. I remember when fighting world hunger was the "trend". Nothing against this I just hope it is not another "trend" and people will actually continue to live this way, without having Gore or Bono being the ones to flip the switch.

  • >>>KalebsArmy - There are individuals who contribute, and there are individuals who do not. During those thousands of years of humans destroying their evironment, there were always humans trying to make a positive impact. I'm just trying to help the second group outnumber the first.

  • Nice one guys....

  • Great to see you doing this, filming it, AND sharing it with everybody!! Looking forward to future posts...cause I'm subscribing :)

  • I like your dog. Good ideas too...

  • yay something real! Im subscribed

  • Are you planning an eco building?

  • The short answer is yes. The long answer is that we lack the resources at this point to do much more than modify our existing structures. Ben has grand straw bale aspirations. Our first building project is little more than plans on paper.

  • I absolutely love it!! Can't wait to see more!

  • Kristen, Love the efforts. Can't pick up slugs ....:) Lynn

  • Thanks Lynn! Are you subscribing yet? ; )

Hope all is well with you and your family. Hope we cross paths soon!
