  • The shadow of "ancient greece"? do you mean of ANCIENT MACEDONIA ?! :@ is the creator a greek????

  • Looks interesting.. anyone knows how it holds up to the total war games? It looks a bit more focused on trade and the campaign map itself, am I correct? Rome total war didn't focus too much on trade or diplomacy, but rather on the battles themself, making the game fun and exiting, but loosing some of its dept when it comes to the campaign.. what about this game?

  • @northmetalguy its exactly what you described it ass, the depth is satisfying

  • This is a very good game, you should buy it :)

  • this videogame is fucking awesome, i got it and im adicted...

  • This is the best budget game I have ever purchased! Better than half of the full price games out there, game is massive and challenging. Hope they release more games like this in future, happy to pay full price for it! Enough history out there for them to do other empires like Roman,Mongol etc etc

  • if this game had multiplayer it would be beastly!!!!!! i would worship this game from the mountain tops!!!! but for now the singleplayer is fun too..

  • HOW COULD A DEATH OF A KING COULD BE IN THE SHADOW OF AN EMPIRE!

THAT DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE !

  • @gQuaresma07 Hey, no need to shout!

Basically, at the start of Philip's campaign, Macedonia was an insignificant part of Greece. When the Macedonian king died, Philip took over and built an empire spanning the entire Greek world.

  • @gQuaresma07 that means that when the king died the empire was born

  • @zanconsorption

That is correct, when the king of Macedon died, and Philip took command, the Macedonian empire began to give rise.

  • @gQuaresma07 The king is obsolete!?

  • @ModernXC Yeah, Wine is never going to be quite as fast, but try setting the graphics down to medium and it should be fine.

  • @ModernXC I always wanted to get it working for Linux, and I might get my chance for the sequel. It does run perfectly fine under Wine, however.

  • i loled when it said "precise control" (0:21) an it showed that u move troops, not units

  • @KAKALXLAX No, this isn't a game where you issue commands to individual people, but that's not really about precision, that's more about granularity.

Hegemony is not a game where you tell all your units to swarm. Ancient Greek warfare was all about fighting in big brigades and getting your battle lines right, so that's what we've focused on. In that shot, you can see that the player can create their own custom formations. Most games don't do a very good job of offering that level of control.

  • @Skrapion im not critizacing the game, just that part of the description

  • I've just played the demo - under Linux, using Wine. And to my surprise there was not a single hiccup of any sort with this. I can run it with max. settings at 1680x1050px, and even alt-tabbing in and out poses no problem to Wine. Was that intended or just good luck? ;)

  • @JacobSprenger Well, it wasn't intended, but I did try it myself during development. Back then, Wine 1.2 wasn't out yet, and I did notice an improvement between 1.0 and 1.1. Out of curiosity, which version are you running?

  • @Skrapion I'm using 1.2-rc2. Fresh Wineprefix, no native dlls, nothing. Installed it, ran it, had fun. :) There are a lot of "fixme:" messages, but they are are of no consequence for the game. On a sidenote: I'm using an NVidia card - just mentioning it in light of those terrible fglrx drivers... Anyway, looking forward to the retail release. And for a sequel you can use Carolus Magnus building his Frankish empire! (Please?) :)

  • is there any real city building in this game, or is it just a seemless "city view" option?

    very cool looking game! ++

  • @beepandbop The game focuses on tactics on the terrain, so the cities don't get any more detailed than what you see in the trailer.

Anyway, we have a free demo on our website. Try it out!

  • @Skrapion very cool, I'll check it out!

  • You guys are awesome <3

  • just played the demo, great job, maybe roman expansion?

  • Awesome awesome awesome awesome! I love this time period, and I'm glad someone has finally decided to do a game based on Philip! Instant buy for me right now! Maybe next you could do one based on Alexander?

  • Fantastic game! Here and there some bugs, and pathfinding issues, but all easy patchable, after long time a game worth spending money on it.

  • Very nice game.

It's 50% off on impulse right now (last day), so hurry and get it.

  • This is on sale on Impulse right now.. I might have to pick it up, checking out the demo now!

  • WOW!! looks good. maybe not up to the standard of RTW but well worth the price. i would be good if you could play all factions.

  • Can you play any nation/tribe you want?

  • @exenter2 You play as the Macedonians, but as you conquer enemy cities you'll be able to hire their units as mercenaries. So for instance, once you conquer a Spartan city, you'll be able to play with Spartan hoplites.

  • After how many years in development if finally comes out? :P

  • @wildgoosespeeder After nearly six years in development, we're very excited to have reached this point! And yes, it was probably bold foolishness for a team as tiny as ours to tackle such an ambitious project, but we're hoping that fortune will favour the bold fools.
